    Thanks for posting, perfect for watching before going to bed. I love watching these vids - reminds me of my childhood when I would curiously watch as the farrier worked on my grandpa's horses. She spent pretty much a full day with us each time - 5-8 horses takes a while!

    I wonder how they train horses to sit still for that kind of thing? the horses seem pretty chill about it.

    • @allosaurusfragillis3683
      @allosaurusfragillis3683 Před 2 lety

      I think they start from foalhood- geting the horse used to people touching their feet, etc.

    • @painteddragon8496
      @painteddragon8496 Před 2 lety +3

      hey! As someone who works with babies and youngsters, I basically train them to get used to this sort of work being done. It starts by just picking up their feet to get used to having the hoof picked out daily but then holding it for much longer so they can work out how to balance themselves. The first farrier visit is normally a bit rocky and they stumble a bit getting used to it all but the more you work on their endurance and the more the farrier visits - they become pros soon enough!

    Just curious, I know it doesn’t hurt them but whats the purpose of putting the shoe on hot? Also why do you carve out a small portion in the front? Great video 😊

    • @feathersong5838
      @feathersong5838 Před 2 lety +3

      The hot shoe helps show if the shoe fits correct, aswell as creates a place for the shoe to sit so its flush and snug with the hoof. The bevel in the front is so the front clip on the shoe has a place to sit. Sometimes people put bevels on the sides aswell if the shoe has side clips.

    Красиво получилось! Работа великолепная. Но мне не понравилась съемка, камера постоянно мельтешит, копыто бы покрупнее видеть. Хотя я и не знаю почему смотрб -коня то у меня нет, просто успокаивает 😅

    Why the little notch out on the front of the hoof?

  • @bardslee
    @bardslee Před 2 lety

    Why do you burn the bottom of the hoof with the horse shoe?

    • @I.am.better.than.you.
      @I.am.better.than.you. Před 2 lety

      The burning helps line it up so when setting it, nailing it in, he knows it’s lined up. Burning it also helps make sure the shoe is flush with the hoof.

      To pad the sole of the hoof, like putting insoles in your shoes, its a comfort measure

      not at all, so long as the hooves aren't cut too short the horse is totally fine. LIke clipping your nails

  • @user-gt9iu7jy6j

    why do u make a ‘V’ shape? is it your signature?

    • @marisalima483
      @marisalima483 Před 2 lety

      It's the natural format

    • @I.am.better.than.you.
      @I.am.better.than.you. Před 2 lety

      The V is the frog as marisa had said it’s a natural format. They are born with it and it would hurt to remove it. The from is there for blood flow and shock absorption in the hoof.

    What was wrong with the hoof?

    • @NiceGame11
      @NiceGame11 Před 2 lety

      Just needed a trim really, no real damage as far as I can see, it's pretty standard to trim a horse's hooves every so often
