I remember when I was young pyro. I had some fireworks and firecrackers and ... that had those instant ignite fuses that I always hated. So, being young teen, I tested out with what I could use as a fuse.
I found that if I quickly run a piece of string through some hot candle wax, and I gotta mention that the layer of wax needs to be pretty much minimal of enough micro spots. It will actually act as like a fuse. But the life time of the fuse was only few hours, otherwise it would just act like a candle. But even as a candle at least it would still ignite the .... just only it would be half a minute later.

Good idea
Ditch the water-use liquid paper glue instead.Put few drops on the glass-(great for rolling)and use small painters brush to apply it only to a middle of paper(5-10 mm wide in your case),later spread the black powder to a glued area ,nice and evenly.Take a small container like from pills and drill a small hole(1.5-2 mm for fine powder) on the side very close to bottom,put powder in and gently tap while you go froward-. Also you cut paper too wide,use long narrow paper and cut it with a ruler.
Its called chinese paper fuse,some people have tutorials on internet,also not every paper works,some are easyer to work with if you want thin fuse-A cigaret rolling paper works rely great and its pre cut already.Also some grocery paper bags work well.

A little bit of slightly inaccurate information here. The stuff you guys are using is reloading propellant or "smokeless gun powder". Usually made from nitroglycerin, nitrocellulose and binders like polyester. Black powder on the other hand is KNO3, sulfur and charcoal. No longer used in modern guns but used in fireworks and older guns.

Black powder can actually burn underwater. It contains the fuel as well as the oxidizer, so the reaction is completely self contained and doesn't need an outside oxygen source (which also makes it really dangerous because you can't just pour water on it to put it out).
unless it actually gets wet..... then it won't even light, but poring water on it will work (if you can react that fast).
that burned when wet because, well, that's triple-7, which isn't actually real black powder,(like GOEX), but rather a black powder substitute.

Grant, been a big fan for a long time. One quick nitpick (if I'm not mistaken...) is that pelletized black powder actually burns faster than a fine powder because the combustion is able to propagate through the pelletized form more efficiently, resulting in an explosion vs a slower burn.
Only mentioning because you seem like a man of science, thought you'd appreciate that little detail. Keep up the awesome videos, and thanks for bringing Mr. Brushwood in for a few videos, he's another one of my favorites. If you haven't seen his performance on Fool Us with Penn and Teller, it's definitely worth checking out.
