Amazing set, I've had mine for about 4 years and I'm still really happy I bought it. Its a nice build to look at and display on my table. The minifigures and playable features are well done. This set is definitely worth the effort to get.
This is the set that got me back into LEGO after a long hiatus due to raising a family and not having a lot of extra money. I was in a mall, saw a LEGO store that I didn't know existed, and was blown away at how large and detailed the sets had become since I last paid attention. Being a fan of horror movies, haunted houses and such, this set basically jumped off the shelf, grabbed me by the neck, and dragged me to the register. And it was such a great build! I've bought many sets since then, but this is still my favorite.
Jang I think those "book cases" are just the exposed lathe in the attic. It's unfinished and you can see the supports. Love your reviews though buddy.
I think this is the most detailed set that came out in a LONG time
What about other things?
The "study area" on the third floor is probably just attic. Those bookshelves might be just shelves for storage of whatever. You know, there are vampires living there and ghosts probably, they love attics overall.
Now that I'm watching this in 2015, I'm really regretting not getting this, this is an amazing building with LOTS of detail, and definitely fits the "Haunted" name!
That makes two of us man, I'm also regretting not getting this before it got scalped xD
+Amorphous7 I hate the way LEGO retire good sets!
+AmazingLego123 At one point, it was on sale at Lego.com for just $30. Not joking, either.
+AmazingLego123 I don't know why lego gets rid of products anyways.. out with the old and in with the new I suppose. I bet if they just kept all the old products, they would make twice the money from collectors.
Regret not buying this and now you have to pay over $300 to get it.. ridiculous
Exquisite details that are complemented by a color scheme that I love. This is definitely as good as the Modular Buildings.
I love this Haunted House. I've been tracking it on eBay for the past several years but can't bring myself to paying $400.
The lowest I found was $110.00
Love the Lego reviews, very neat, thanks for sharing.
i actually own this set and i leave it open with each figure in each section, the ghosts in the top and middle left, the vampires next to them Lord Vampyre with his records and his bride in the bedroom, finally the zombie chef is cookin' a snake in the kitchen where he belongs and the Frankenbutler is by the stairs and the front door next to him. the gate is immediately in front of the fireplace.
i also hang hang 2 masks on that large black roof section, shame is they cover up the ghosts.
the masks in question are an eyeless Jack mask which is just an art shop mask which sharpied a base coat of blue with black around the eyes with random tear streaks in both length and quantity stopping about 2 centimetres above the mouth, the 2nd is a Jason Voorhees hockey mask over the first and a pink plastic knife shoved in the left eye socket (right eye socket from this perspective actually wearing it would have the knife on the left) it is like that to replicate the old Friday the 13th game. (not to be confused with the new one by gun media and Illfonic)
So many sets i'll never be able to afford, but as as guy who was the last to remember the Golden age of xmas catalogs, watching the details of Jang's reviews are Truly the next best thing...!
I usually see Lego sets as springboards for our imagination to literally expand. I've long wished you'd take sets like this and if those walls were two to four studs deeper, maybe design a dungeon & a secret passage or two...
Very cool video Jang! thank you for sharing your thoughts and recommendations with us. I've watched dozens of your videos now and will keep supporting and liking as you continue. Keep up the top job
This would make a great Arkham asylum moc
*hehe
I got me this outbreak set because I thought it will make a nice wing for my haunted castle I'm planning...
The gate with these dark angels is awesome....
thanks for another great review Jang! i wish I'd come across this set before it retired!!
One of the best set for both collecting and Selling! Would appreciate if Lego could create another haunted building for Halloween this year!
that would make my day. I have recently been trying to get this. but sadly I can't afford the like 500 dollar ones on ebay. Wish I got this when it came out.
Super cool! Going to have to grab this off ebay!
Jang, what you called the zombie child picture is actually the zombie bride from Monster Fighters set 9465. Interestingly enough, the zombie groom also has a top hat like the one found in the attic chest.
I bought this set as soon as it went on sale back then and I don't regret it one minute. It's actually one of my favourite Lego sets ever and I've been collecting Lego for decades.
I really hope they sort of re-do it under The Addams Family theme because it would fit like a glove.
Jang, the white object above the bed frame at 5:46 is two interlocking lovers in arms.
They need to bring this theme back!
Agree!
Yeah
i think lego should make a broken window piece
Luckily I have this set and it`s AWESOME!!
This set looks so nice and detailed and fun to build
Watching this in 2018, I definitely wish I had kept up with this theme while it was running. It just strikes a nostalgia nerve in me that I love. The only set I have from this series is the Ghost Train and now I wish I had pressed myself to keep collecting this enjoyable series. I hope one day Lego does a revamp of it and returns us to the world of classic monsters!
Lots of detail put into this.
The green plant could be a reference to the Maniac Mansion video game from the 90´s.
Awesome house! You can put a head on the plant in the bedroom, skeleton in the closet etc! Your imagination can run wild with this house!
nice review! just picked this set up. i think its getting very hard to find now, especially in the UK and in stores. its goes very nicely with the Vampyre Hearse vehicle set as well. adds a nice feature to park outside the house. cool!
It sucks that the prices of these retired sets are so ridiculously high on Ebay. This set is going for around $400-450
:( so sad. sand green is a particularly had to get color though.
Much cheaper to buy the pieces from BrickLink and make your own build.
Lego Brickology
Thank you. I've never been on there before. I'll research it
Tyrone- It might not necessarily be cheaper but they will definitely have all the pieces you need. (including stickers and prints)
Is it not worth it though?
So glad I got this one. It took me a while to build it (last year). I still have the Ghost Train that needs to be built.
Cool set, cool video
I have always loved this set when I go to my cousins house!
Why would lego discontinue such a beautiful set
i think the real question is why would lego discontinue such an awesome theme.
Miles Prower I had the ghost train when I was like 4 and o threw it in my Lego box and let it fall apart for years. Wish I could go back and tell my past self to not do that and try to keep it!
is this set based on detroit?
No its too fancy
catclone gamez There is that one train station.
No it’s based on New Jersey
Caleb Wade Nah New Jersey is actually pretty nice, think it’s based on Philadelphia
lol
I think it looked great when new and not abandoned. :) jaja.
Great stuff, great stuff.
Super set!
awesome the letter is used in loads of sets but it looks awesome
This is my favorite set that I have in my collection.
Really wish I'd picked this up when it was out!
It’s kinda looks like the Adams family house
Cool video!
This is an amazing set and fits nicely with the new scooby doo series. I love your channel Jang and it has helped me out a lot.
I would love to have this set but no longer available :(
NAZZ681 Order it lol
Ebay
awesome set looks great in your city if you wil put it
I hope that in a few years this theme will be revisited because it had some very solid sets to it, and I'd expect newer sets would be even better
I am actually impressed by this set. That's pretty rare nowadays.
omg I need this set for my custom lego zombie apocalypse moc!!!
Nice Video, I totally agree with most of wha tyou say.
Thats awesome
love it, love it, and it looks AWESOME! to me
This is my favourite LEGO set !!
Modular building - the spooky villa at the end of the road.
I wish I would have got one .
HALLOWEEN'S MY Favourite Holiday
This reminds me of the Phantom Manor in Disneyland Paris only outside though but when I get this I might try modifying it if I get it to look more like the actual Phantom Manor
think the letter desk is a nod to Bram Stokers Dracula, as it was written in letter and diary form. Nice Gothic touch, to an awesome set.
by the time I found out about this set it was too late to get it anywhere. I collected all the other sets but never found this one. when I found out about it everywhere I looked it costed over 400 dollars.
Kristopher Peek, that's actually really cheap compared to one of the most expensive sets i have
So good
woah this is cool
I found one in a store today and it took so much for me to not buy it right there. I love this set!!
Will Drosche YOU FOUND ONE IN A STORE AND DIDN’T BUY IT???? Do you know how rare that is in 2019?!
I'm soooo glad I got this
one of the best lego sets ever
I Agree!!! As You Would Say,"Awesome Awesome, AWESOME!!!
I'd love to own this set! Would be great if TLG would do something similar in the near future. Yes there is the Scooby Doo theme currently but I would like something more substantial like this Monster Fighters theme. Thanks again for the review!
Wow I really wish I got Monster fighters sets when I had the chance
When I saw the record player I thought of Insidious..
Well I think I want it, and then to populate it with all the other monsters, like the witch, mummy, green Frankenstein, and to get a few Halloween minifigure packs and use the graves in front of the house!
Needs a grandfather clock
That was actually a separate polybag set from the same series
One of the sets that appeals to me. It is too pricey on e-bay these days. One option might be to download the instructions and get the pieces at either the Lego store or Bricklink. That way I can get in chunks.
Might even do a mod of it in different colors, so it's another version but with the same build.
KinaQuinquina maybe if you do. Make it look like a normal house. It would be a cool moc
God do I miss these sets
that a cool set
I remember when this came out and it was one of the sets I had to buy. They came and went, and to this day I still regret not getting it. Even though it is a good set, I am not forking up $400
Hey jang, the big grey building, the black roof and the gate remind me a lot of the arkham asylum, could you maybe do a comparison video?
Omg I want this set so bad
It's 2017 and I want this set too Man
can you do a fast building video of some of your sets
soo coool!
It's a atic not a Libary .but still surprising for a monster fighter set
If I ever get a lot of building sets, then I'll get this and make it that one house in shows, movies and stuff that no one dares to go to
wish i could have got this i got some of the monster fighters sets
Can you do a moc building tips and tricks video
6:10 giant missed opportunity to put a skeleton in the closet...
When lego first made Dracula cape as for a collectible mini figure I didn't no how to fold it lol
ar you going to do more Monster Fighters sets?
I don't think the upper room is a study/library. Those "shelves" look more like support beams for an unfinished wall, so it's probably an attic. The items inside and the drop-down stairs lend themselves to this theory more.
This set should be really cool displayed with the other "houses" (restaurant, pet shop, town hall, etc.). Buy one NOW while you can...
I want to get this set so bad!
It's worth it. The amount of detail is spectacular and it has nice playability. It's also a great display piece. :)
Spoopy
Cool
Anyone else think that this set looks like Disneyland Paris' Phantom Manor?
Just me?
I do
I think it looks like the Addams Family's house from the '90s movies.
Definitely looks like the Phantom Manor!
this set has a lot of texture to it
I LOVE your voice! I imagine you must do voice-overs. Yes? 😀
The ghostbuster sets should say "Compatible with monster fighter sets"
it's a gramaphone, or known as a victrola (slang, as it was a very popular brand name gramaphone). a pantograph is a device used to copy from an original, usually either by drawing or cutting.
This look like the phantom manor from Disney land paris
OMG I LIKE BANANS........and jang
lol the 3rd floor is supposed to e the attic not a study and the bookshelves are actually supposed to be the rafters and beams holding up the roof, other than love this and all your other videos. i would love it if you purchased one or two more of these sets and put them all together and make an even better haunted house. keep making more videos, love wat u do
he is lego expert . I think he devoted himself to lego. wow.
when I saw this set on the lego site I just skipped it because I figured it was just a facade (didnt have the back)
