- A&Z #966 - Randy Santel "Atlas" vs La Famiglia's Massive "Tour of Rome" Italian Food Challenge at La Famiglia Italian Restaurant in Destin, Florida which is located on the Emerald Coast in the Panhandle!! @KatinaEatsKilos and I decided to kick off our 2021 food challenge touring in Florida, and our February Florida Tour turned into a February & March Florida Tour!! I attempted lots of food challenges all over the state of Florida. For food challenge #49, we traveled to Destin, Florida on the Emerald Coast in the Florida Panhandle so we could help kick off and attempt the new "Tour of Rome" authentic Italian Food Challenge at La Famiglia Italian Restaurant located in the parking lot of the Destin Walmart. The family moved from Rome, Italy to Destin, Florida back in 2011 and opened this restaurant. The challenge features lots of foods that you would find in Rome, Italy - Chicken Parmigiana, Fettuccini Alfredo, Lasagna, Pesto Gnocchi, Bruschetta, Ravioli, and more. Along with a giant calzone, I drank an optional glass of red wine and had to finish a Limoncello Tiramisu for dessert. Thanks to everyone with La Famiglia Italian Restaurant for the amazing food, drinks, and hospitality!! Thanks also to the great people who came up that night to watch and meet Katina and I!! We appreciate everyone in Destin, FL and around the Florida Panhandle who watches videos and supports our hard efforts!!

La Famiglia's Massive "Tour of Rome" Italian Food Challenge in Destin, Florida (~$100):
- La Famiglia Italian Restaurant is located near the giant Walmart in Destin, Florida.
- It was founded in 2011 when the family moved from Rome, Italy to the Emerald Coast.
- This "Tour of Rome" Italian Food Challenge features lots of items from their menu:
- Bruschetta - Traditional homemade, toasted bread topped with chef’s choice of the day.
- There is a giant calzone filled with meats, cheeses, and healthy vegetables.
- Fettuccine Alfredo - Fettuccine pasta served in their homemade Alfredo sauce with broccoli.
- Gnocchi - Dumpling potato pasta served in Pesto Sauce.
- Traditional (red) meat lasagna.
- Ravioli Stefania - Big ravioli stuffed with 4 cheeses and mushrooms, in a white gorgonzola sauce with italian sausage.
- Pollo Alla Parmigiana - Breaded, fried chicken breast baked with mozzarella cheese in marinara sauce.
- There was also a Limoncello flavored tiramisu that needed to be finished for dessert.
- The red wine in this video was optional and there is a 1 hour time limit to finish everything.
- Winners receive the ~$100 Italian food meal free plus a spot on La Famiglia's Wall of Fame.

i love that you’re eating everything i cook cause i work at an italian restaurant here in nashville. we cook all the same things except it’s a different presentation. pesto sauce is my fave and we have pesto mayo too which is good with sandwiches and fries. come to nashville again.

Curious about the pesto sauce, do you add cream to pesto? Pesto is usually in oil not like a white sauce like in this video. But pesto mayo is also amazing

I find Randy to be one of the few honest eaters. There are some after show videos floating around giving a n insight what it means to conquer those challenges and hitting the John afterwards.
You can see that Randy puts on weight and slims down again while other people appear to be thin as a rail. There are some types of competitive eaters who barf it all out after. It is easy to see, no metabolism is fast enough to digest 12k Calories on a regular basis unless your name is Brian Shaw or Eddie Hall.
Randy you are awesome and a real food champ unlike those barfers (I will not name and shame but we all know).

First of all, Randy is a genius for making an excellent living, on the road, as a professional glutton. I regret never losing my amateur status. With all the terrible things happening in the world, there is unprecedented opportunity for creative hustlers (in the good sense) with appealing personalities. Well done Randy.
Having seen maybe a score of these, this is the leitmotiff: Randy can scarf down 6-7 pounds of food in < 1 hour. He sure can and he can have 20 minutes to spare or 7 minutes to spare depending on a couple of tactical choices. But Randy can eat 7 pounds at a sitting, don't bet against him. Apparently he can do it a few times in a week which is itself very impressive. As he does it he is surrounded by people shouting his name. I am a little concerned for the health effects which would not be zero (I love his references to "healthy vegetables" as he dives into 7 pounds of crusty, meaty, breaded Yada).
I'm not sure why I enjoy these but I'm not tired of them yet...despite gnawing guilt.

To me, my childhood favorite plate that my father use to make was fettucine with octopus which is very tasty, especially with garlic tomato sauce, olive oil and black tinted sauce from the octopus can.
