We have wolverines in Alaska and they are protected . They have food caches which can be under 3 feet of snow . Not even bears or mountain lions will fight a wolverine .
They are similar to honey badgers in look.
@@TigerTigz. They're both giant weasels....
@Quantum Mechanic, @lion videos. (Our experiences as Safari guides), and @treck87, actually you are all wrong, the Wolverine (Gulo Gulo) and Honey Badger (Mellivora Capensis) are not weasels, nor are they closely to them or to each other, the honey badger is after all a badger and badgers form a monophyletic group of fifteen extant species within seven extant genera, which is actually a separate family known as Melidae, while the wolverine forms a monophyletic group with the zorillas, muishund, shulang, huro, grisons, tayra, martens, and fisher, which is another separate family known as Ictonychidae, the honey badger's closest living relatives are actually the ferret badgers, while the wolverine's closest living relative is actually the Tayra (Eira Barbara), wolverines and honey badgers only share similarities due to convergent evolution.
@Quantum Mechanic, also, there's no such thing as a mountain lion, they're actually called pumas and they're more closely related to cheetahs than to lions.
@@indyreno2933 Live in the western US and they are actually called Mountain Lions and not remotely related to the Cheetah .
Mooooore pleeez!
We love wolverines!
Thank you for putting up awesome vids we can't find anywhere else, but on Smithsonian Channel ❣
I was mildly surprised she said "Finland" because my brain auto-completed it to "Michigan"

Did you just make that up ? 🤔✌️
Actually, no.
@@indyreno2933 That was a joke, my friend 😉✌️
@AA BB, but I didn't get it.
Whatever
Of course there is a piece of meat underneath a rock in the middle of the wilderness.Who would have thought?
You should see the monster ones we have in the US. Pound for pound they are #2 only behind Shrews and just ahead of Star nosed moles.
Shrews are worse???
Love this!!😆☺️
Her lifting that rock like nothing is bananas
Why the lie in the headline? The video explicitly says she's driven by gluttony but by desperation.
So sweet and beautiful!

@Smithonian have you featured Bush babies? 🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️
@lion videos. (Our experiences as Safari guides), you mean galagos?
Wolverine seem very similar to the African honey badger. Body shape and size and face. 🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺🦨🦨🦨🦨🦨🦨🦨🦨🦨🦨🦨🦨🦨🦨🦨🦨
However, the Wolverine (Gulo Gulo) is actually unrelated to the Honey Badger (Mellivora Capensis).
Gulo gulo is ‘gula gula’.. its mean candy/sweets.. definitely latin take it from malay peninsular a long time ago..
Not Gulo Gulo, it's Gulo gulo. small mistake, but easy to fix it.
