    DO NOT LEAVE BATTERIES INSIDE!! They Drain for no reason, I left the new AAA's I put in and left it sitting on my work bench, not in anything just out in the open, and the batteries were completely DRAINED!

      Mine stopped working after I left the batteries in. I opened up a new pack of batteries and it still doesn't work, is there anyway to fix it. Or has the thing died?

    So I just bought this electric screwdriver and I like it I also found out something about it,the light can be turned on without having to hear the little motor spin just but holding both buttons I don’t know if that will affect it in dew time but for the mean time it works if you just need to see what you are looking at!

      P.S Ik it doesn’t beat having a button to turn the light on and of manually but it works great as a nice little accessory for the tool kit in my opinion

    This needs in the very least to 18650 and possibly usb c port for running off usb power and recharging but that is hopefully what they are working on what would be even better woukd be adjustable torque for tightening to.

    its actually kinda funny, im watching this video, trying to find a review of their electric screwdriver, because ive just watched JayzTwoCents lastest video, litteraly uploaded like 20 min prior to my msg, and he just then mentioned and asked why they ifixit never made a electric screwdriver, and also mentioning that they actually found out during the video that they had made one, and asked why ifixit never send him one :D though i gotta say, the looks and price of it, doesnt inspire much confidence in me to get it, compared to some of the other ones out there, i would have expected something abit more premium from them, compared to their other tools, wich are pretty damn nice.

      I was so excited when I saw this, I bought it and my first impression was positive you know? It's a brand I've use for years, this felt rushed or they out sourced it, like they saw a truck load for sale bought them and resold them and whatever, so not like them though.     0.15nm is kinda wimpy compared to most China screwdrivers which are 0.25nm. 1nm is also a little weird, compared to 3nm, but i'll allow it, i wouldn't be surprised if ifixit is a little conservative on this spec for the case that people start breaking their products, while other sellers just don't give a shit and will just have an arbitrary warranty cutoff that they won't tell you about. The speed is not specified, but given the low torque, it's rarely going to run close to the rated speed anyway.
    Closest comparable product would be the "Wowstick Try". Also same double AAA, 0.12nm which honestly, looks like margin of error. 3nm, yeah, i don't know if i trust them on that. 150rpm. I think this might actually the same exact product technically, it also costs the same.
    In any case, you're best off not even attempting to stick Alkaline AAAs in there, but get some higher current rated NiMH cells. I think a good NiMH charger is a great purchase for life, i bought one 25 years ago, made in Germany, and it's still on my desk and charging some cells every few days, good stuff. After all NiMH cells NEVER leak if they're charged properly, unlike zinc carbon cells which leak every damn time and Alkaline cells which don't leak frequently enough that you are constantly concerned, but frequently enough to backstab you right while you let your eyes off them.
    But i really think Li-Ion is the way to go for power tools even as small as this, makes for more powerful tools. Let's assume for the sake of a thought experiment that drivery bits be the exact same, but you're getting 2.4V typical off 2xAAA and 4.2V off a topped off Li-Ion, 3.7V average. Assuming the motor has a constant impedance (in my experience, vaguely but not quite true, anyway better than other simple approximations), represented as R, then P=R*I^2 and I=V/R, thus P=V^2/R, so the power scales with the square of voltage, you're going to get about 2.5 times the power out of a Li-Ion battery. To wit, the Li-Ion powered ones claim something like 0.2-0.3nm and 200-400rpm, i do think they possibly modified the motors a bit for the higher working voltage so that they aren't quite as likely to burn out, but like you're still getting some extra power. But also... if people are experiencing failures with them in higher amounts, maybe that's like half the reason, besides cell death by deep discharge and such, extra probability of charger circuit failure, etc.
    A third AAA cell could bump up the power nicely, but there's effectively nowhere to put it. Li-Ion can also make it much shorter, it could be equipped with a single 14500 size replaceable cylindrical cell behind a screw down cap, you can get these from any cell supplier.
    I do think "it could be faster" is a valid remark by one of the site reviews, like 150rpm isn't bad, it's a little faster than my hand speed, if it could actually uphold that, but 300-400 are better and you're still well in control, it wouldn't be too fast.
    Also i looked and the ifixit one isn't available in my region. Would have considered a purchase for 20€ or that vague order of magnitude.

      I am really contemplating doing a couple month follow up on this video. the batteries drain if left in....So obviously while ur using it the power weens down pretty fast. I have not tried any other battery types because I get depressed when I think about using this. I love Ifixit and 99.99% of their products, this being that percentage I do not.....

      @@2020Tech4U Make use of warranty. There's no excuse for it to drain the batts in a day. I'm thinking it's likely down to a faulty component on the control board.
      Would be good to have a look inside, see what candidates are there for the issue, whether it could be a design issue or a faulty component. iFixit should publish a teardown :D

      @@SianaGearz LMAO yes they should. You know what. I have to film a outro in a bit for another video, but I'm going to do the tear down because it should take around 10 minutes and maybe I can find the issue. Good idea

    meh, so it's basically generic chinese electric screwdriver?
    I use three right now, xiaomi mijia, jakemy y02 and hoto. The first one can be use as a 'regular' screwdriver, so it's easy to put some additional, initial torque when the screws are glued or something like that (so I don't have to juggle it with a regular screwdriver), but it has only ~200 rpm. For more delicate electronics I use jakemy, just because it's super fast with ~320rpm, has 10 scale torque control and the rattle when it can't go no more. Hoto is for bigger stuff, radios, etc., mad torque but still slim. I use ifixit bits in all of those lol

    Will it take the 3.7 volt battery the Triple A size not sure if there the 10440?

      To be honest I have not tried 3.7 and I messaged Ifixit and got no reply. I might be doing a follow up on this driver because it drains batteries even not in use. Maybe my driver is a defect? Sorry I could not answer ur question and I do not assume things so I cannot say for sure

      It takes two cells. I wouldn't put two Li-Ion cells into it, it certainly won't survive that. Maybe one cell and one dummy.
      I wouldn't expect ifixit to reply, they don't want to take this sort of responsibility.
