After a lot of recommendations of this song, I finally hear it! This one has a lot of Kanami power on it, loved the bridge and the main riff that you can hear during the chorus, also I think it has one of the heaviest sections that I've heard until now from BAND-MAID

"Puzzle" is definitely on my short list of all time favorite songs, not just Band-Maid's, but all songs from all bands!!! For me, this song has everything...emotional lyrics and vocals, great back ups and harmonies, driving bass, drums that change the feel of the song multiple times, and a lead guitar with non-stop riffing and awesome solo(s)...that solo is like...butter!!! Very melodic with an incredible tone from Kanami 🥰...perfect!!! This whole concert (2017 Shinkiba Studio Coast) is amazing! Another favorite is "Turn Me On" from 2018 Zepp Tokyo. Agree the only thing I miss from the Studio Coast is the COMPLETE ABSENCE of Audience sound.
@@DavidMISAMISAMISACook thought the same, and wondered if the Band was resonating a definite sorrow; seemed to be. It is obvious they love Live Concerts. The first Virtual Session was a short Jam Gig they did for youtube in 2019, kicking off, the Shinka Tour in Japan...it was in a small tent to capture sound quality, but had a sound system set for the japanese fans outside. The audio quality was rough but their enthusiasm was palpable. Especially when Saiki was telling Mikupo how to pronounce a little cardboard prop that was written in english, to promote those Fans to come to Japan, or be ready for a US, British Tour after Line Cube...which of course was canceled. It was endearing seeing the pair, and the other members, so happy, as Saiki patiently couched Mikupo on the words. Who would know, that their Tours would be cancelled. I believe, they pulled that little concert from youtube due to sound quality, but it was great for the personal touch. They helped me, with their music through covid...they are the best and forever changed my rock and roll outlook. Same for the fans...I think their the best, and possibly the smartest; due to the devout interactions with like minded fans on youtube. Appreciated your comments and reply. @@ronaldthomasecklund6206 Would loved to have seen that, I don't mind poorer sound quality if the visuals are Band-Maid, that's why I REALLY appreciate the Vladimir Chupin Fan -cams, they remind me of actually being at one of their Okyu-ji (been to 2 just to brag)

This song made me fall in love with BAND-MAID, and still in my top5 list. It was the first time I had seen someone who can add such a lot of details to a song without being overcomplicated.
I really liked this one! At this point my top 3 is becoming hard to decide haha, and I think it will become harder and harder with every new song I hear
This is one of my favorite BAND-MAID songs - it has Kanami with one long solo the entire song and lyrics that hit the heart along with a thumping hard rock sound that makes it a masterpiece!!
Yeaaah and if you add saiki's phenomenal interpretation with the great melody that was composed for the song it makes the song just perfect with all the other elements you mentioned

That was THE PERFORMANCE. All the girls giving their best 120%. Puzzle was the first live song of them I watched and I remember I cried. From then to now I cannot skip a day listening something of Band Maid, without any doubt the most emotionally shocking band over the world today. These girls know perfectly all the paths that lead right to the very center of people's souls. Love Band Maid Forever!

Like i said before, i think they can do music for 30+ years and this will always be my favorite song, it´s so versatile, so many changes, riffs and the lyrics are heartbreaking, there is also an acoustic version and it makes you tear up even as a grown man! I adore this song, it´s perfect in every single detail for me...

The acoustic version is amazing. The harmonizing between Saiki and Kanami is mesmerizing. My 3 favorite "slow songs" from Band-Maid are: Acoustic Puzzle, Awkward and now About Us :-)

While Puzzle live gives you full of energy with it's fast paced tempo, in contrast, Puzzle live acoustic projects a lot of emotions with it's simplistic, slowed down version, but yet powerful delivery. You need to see that version as well. Thanks for another great reaction.

@@Temporal72 If you choose "Rinne" use the MV. The live vid is cut short by 1-2 mins. Due to talk show silliness.
So nice to see these videos again from the 2017 Studio Coast DVD. (They were up on CZcams for years until the record company decided to copyright block them en masse). IIRC, this show was recorded only a couple of months after Saiki underwent surgery on her vocal cords, but you'd never know it. Her voice is perfect! This whole song is perfect, TBH ==> Kanami soloing the whole time, Miku's backing vocals, Akane's syncopated rhythms and fills... and then Misa holding it all together with her bass.
It doesn't get better than this.
The sound is mixed post production so Saiki should have sounded more raw you can see that with the faces she make in the video. Wasn’t easy but gave her all

Puzzle was the first time I really realized how good Saiki's voice truly is. She just lets it all out on this song. And Miku's backup vocals add so much. Also this is my favorite Kanami solo. I can hear Santana's influence ( a major influence in her playing). My favorite song.

And haha daydreaming might be my favorite Kanami solo until now, this one was pretty cool, the first solo and the main solo were amazing!
@@Temporal72 I would have to admit that her solo on daydreaming is also one of my favorites too. But this is special for me as I was and still am a huge Carlos Santana fan. This Puzzle 2017 live will always have a special place in my heart. This is the only one that has managed to remain in my top 3 since I first discovered BM a few years back. Considering how frequently their tracks outdo each other, this is quite the record. Infact this is very high in my fav songs of all times list.
A Masterpiece by Kanami. I just hope they eventually release it officially on their youtube channel.
It is an amazing song! I think I have to hear it more to grow on me, the ones that are in my top 3 right now are Manners, Daydreaming and Puzzle but haha as you say, that top 3 can change with every new song I hear
Puzzle is one of Band-Maid's best! Best is a broad statement for Band-Maid, so many great songs!

Manners, Chemical Reaction and Why, Why, Why are favorites from the new album, but all the tracks are fantastic! Band-Maid just dropped a official mv from the Feb 11th live stream concert called About Us, and it's ballad perfection!
I love this concert the previous song they played before this one Monatorium is fantastic and the transition to this one with the synth was awesome.

Fun fact: This is a sad song playing with heavy music style, and yes, Kanami continuesly doing some nice guitar parts and solo almost the rest of this song.

Hey :) I was just responding to you. Again, thank you so much. I have never been able to choose one BAND-MAID song as my favorite but PUZZLE was always right there. What I love about this song, above all else, is Saiki's non stop, I don't need to take a breath, vocals and when Miku swoops in with her backing vocals. Kanami's riffs, riffs and more riffs.

There’s no breaks for Kanami on this tune! I love how Akane improvises perfectly on the drums during the main solo! Now you should check out Puzzle acoustic version! This is high energy but the acoustic showcases the emotion of Saiki as she tells the story

You should definitely do second reactions to your favorites from the concert because you a great job analyzing! I think ppl don’t watch your video to hear you say “omg!! I don’t know what to expect!” It’s great to see you enjoy the music and explain some technical reasons why they sound great. Also you definitely called out some great moments from their concert!

Thank you for your reaction and detailed analysis to one of my favorite BM songs. It makes me appreciate it even more. Their musicianship is something to behold. It's still hard for me to believe that it was live. We are truly blessed to have discovered them. Thru my musician brother who struggled for many years and never achieved the success he sought, I know that there are countless talented musicians like him out there that never attain the fruits of their labor. There are just so many unknown factors in play that decide what makes certain artists click with listeners. Even BM were surprised when Thrill (the b side of the two songs they released) became so popular on YT. I think this is the reason that I respect and connect with BM so much. Their organic origin and discovering that sound that resonates with people as well as their devotion to honing their craft for their masters and princesses. I like many older madiacs too have not felt this way about a band in a very long time.

Yeaaah I can understand what you are telling me, actually I have a band and I try to put all my heart in every song we compose and play, it must be really cool and unexpected if suddenly one of our videos becomes viral, I think they must be living a dream, seeing them playing live is amazing, you can see how passionate they are about their music and music in general 🔥
It’s a bit like a song with abnormal lover, and it depicts emotions very well. Want to stop but can’t or don’t want to.
Listen to 'Puzzle' live then the accoustic version and you can see just how wonderful Band-Maid really are. Kanami wrote it, Miku wrote the lyrics and Saiki brings it alive in both versions.
Kanami's accoustic guitar is a out of this world. Such a group of hugely talented musicians deserve universal success. Nobody is even close to them.
I think this is the Zepp concert and generally considered a better mix than the Line Cube concert (most official live videos on CZcams).
Was awesome you got to see the live stream gig. Loving your videos on BAND-MAID and you are one of the only ones who actually has new feedback and comments to each song and not just wow for 10 minutes. haha

Great analysis. One of my favorite BM songs. So dynamic. I like your ability to pick up details and the guitar explanations. Kanami's ability to come up with so many different riffs combined with creativity of Akane and Misa keeps the songs so dynamic.
Play (live), Real Existence (Live), Freedom (live), Cross (live), Choose Me (Live),Rinne, Dice, Bubble, Secret My Lips etc etc....so many still to choose from.

There are many great songs from this performance. Puzzle is one of my all time favorites. It’s subtly complex and powerful. Saiki puts in a great vocal performance in this one.

Wow! This is the first time I checked the Japanese lyrics and I was amazed by how good it is. Miku can write good poems! The lyrics are passionate but also elegant. The words were obviously carefully chosen or tailored such that the Japanese pronunciations fit the feeling and flow of the melody. This is very difficult for a high tempo rock song.

That's what I find amazing about her lyrics, too. She, and Saiki of course, manipulate the pronunciations so that it's almost like another instrument. A lot of commenters have pointed out that Saiki sings in triplets to go along with the song.

When BAND-MAID announce their new song, fans guess "What are they going to do this time?". And when the song starts, "What are they going to do in the second verse?"
I think maybe that is an double edge blade because it set the expectations a little bit too high, but based on what everyone have told me, Band-Maid have been doing that greatly across their whole career

It's a complete mystery to me how people have moved away from mind, gut, and soul gripping rock... to cheezy, glitz & glam pop entertainers, industrial boy groups, and "I'm too cool for you" commercial hip-hop / rap crap. Maybe groups like Band-Maid, The Warning, Jinjer and others will once again ignite people's musical sensibilities back to where it should be - honest, rock-based, kick-ass music written from the heart that moves you. And that includes everything from classical, R & B, funk, grunge and soul to jazz, fusion, prog and metal. Wow... did I just say all that?? Sorry, slip of the fingers. 🤘😎🤘

if you thought at the end that saiki sounded more epic at the end with a simpler guitar piece then thats why they did it. kanami is a brilliant composer i find. Its got exactly what it needs when it needs it :D

This is the ANGRY/Confused version of the "third railed" Lover's viewpoint in a Puzzling relationship scenario, as Kanami is "Mad" shredding the whole song. The simple acoustic version, in contrast, is one of "sadness" and "lament," even closure of this puzzling relation. It bring Saiki's "guttural soulfulness." Band Maid piercing the heart through their storytelling, Po! Both are masterpieces, Po!

@@Temporal72 If you get a hold of the live version of "Awkward," you will find the same vein of song writing and a unique Kanami composition. Misa finger picks. From my observation, when Misa finger picks, she grooves. I hope you can find "Awkward" live.

Te recomiendo Moratorium, con partes mas pesadas pero siempre intercalado con el lado pop del grupo, creo que es del mismo concierto. Screaming, un de los temas que nombraste, creería que es uno de sus favoritos, porque lo tocan en todos los vivos. Esta de mas decir que es uno de mis favoritos también.
