My dad just died from a long illness in June and as a last father daughter trip we drove from warren Oregon to south bend wa for bbq oysters to die for. Then ‘camped’ in a cabin at crescent lake and drove all over Olympic national park and did short strolls here and there as he was able to walk. We had camped there back in 1974 in about the worst rain storm in WA history. Lol. But inside out huge canvas circus tent we were dry as we listened to our camping neighbors playing Johnny cash on the 8 track in their car. But seriously the coast up there is so stunning and rugged. La push is one of the places that we camped that year, so you are bringing back fond memories for me. We camped down at Long Beach wa and dug for razor clams every year. The Olympic peninsula is an amazing place. I’m glad you are enjoying it with your honey 🍯
Kelly, I am so sorry to hear about your father, but as you were sharing memories of you and him I could picture it perfectly! The PNW is truly amazing.
Nature is healing and the best place to make real and lasting great memories
Kelly I know where you ate those oysters are amazing! Nice you got to take a nice trip with your dad there.
Thank you for posting this, I’ve just added this to my Fall list of camping excursions! Woohoo!!
It is so worth it!!
Nice video and great to see you out in the wilderness again! Hope to see more of your adventures guys, thx for sharing!
Thank you!
Happy belated Birthday Owen! What a great spot to celebrate a birthday. I love the Olympic Peninsula have been there a couple of times. Great job with the video!!!
Thank you so much!!!
The question is did he get the birthday 🌬 in that tiny tent.
What a really cute couple - you and Owen! Happy Birthday to your man! Loved the video - even the frog in the tent. lol
HAHAH that's the first thing he messaged me after he watched it. "You just had to put that in there!"
Oh my god I LOVE second beach, I grew up vacationing there and mora beach every year. so glad you decided to showcase this wonderful state. It doesn’t happen enough
It is such a beautiful place!
Aww, I LOVE, L♥️VE! You guys make such a cute couple! Happy Birthday “Mr Whimsical Woman”! 🥳 Thanks for taking us along! You’ll appreciate having this footage many years from now. Such beautiful scenery, my kind of birthday celebration for sure! 👍🏼 xoxo 💜
Oh thank you!!
Lovely video! Happy birthday to Owen ♫♫♪♪ He's such a cutie and you two make a great couple. ♥♥♥
Thank you, Diana!!
I appreciate your shared gift. Buy those moments while you can. Reminds me of saying, I use to say, but not anymore.
That one of my fave spots for sunset photographs! Plus some great bouldering at the end of the beach.
It's unreal there isn't it??
Gorgeous film!!
That first shot of the beach -- simply stunning. I have never been any place like that. And the forest was so lush, almost like a jungle. What a gorgeous place.
It definitely took my breath away!
Happy Birthday Owen. take care of our Whimsical women. you picked a good one.
Thank you, Robert! That is so sweet.
Happy Birthday Owen! Nice rip too 😂 Thank you for the trip down memory lane. I live in New England. My now wife and I visited that area in 2011. I absolutely fell in love with the Pacific Northwest. My wife was obsessed with Twilight back then so we visited Forks and Lapush. We actually went to 2nd beach as well. I didn’t know you could camp there though, that is awesome! We did so much on that trip. Forks, Olympic National Park, Vancouver ( Lynn Cannon ) Silverfalls State Park, Heceta Head Lighthouse, Mount Saint Helens, Mount Rainer, The Columbia River Gorge ( tons of amazing waterfalls )! Astoria and all the Goonies spots 😊 it was an awesome trip! Keep being you and posting up some of your cool adventures 🤙
Hahah he does like to rip! Lol and that sounds like the most EPIC adventure! Come back soon!
Love to see some of the PCT gear😍 Happy Birthday 🎂
I had to bring it back out!
Soo sweet! Love the music and editing. More...! :)
Thanks, Grant!!
You are SUCH a chaarming couple!! Happy Birthday, Owen!
Oh thank you!!!
Super cute video! I enjoyed every minute. My son lives in Long Beach, WA. I'm thru hiking the PCT next year and hopefully he can hike with me from Hart's Pass to the terminus next year and back... and then show me the sites up there for a few days. I will add this place to our list for sure. Thanks for sharing and best wishes!! :)
Wow good luck to you!!!! And that sounds like an epic plan! :)
It was great to see you in the woods again. #AT
What a beautiful place for his birthday. Thank you for sharing 😊 🎂 🎁
💜💜
I loved this! You guys remind me of my husband and I when we first got married. Precious times and they still are..going on 30 years now. I’m excited for you both. Marriage is the best. ❤️
Thank you, Jody!! I really do hope so!!
Second beach is awsome, another amazing beach camping with lots more camping spots and views is third beach, point of arches, tons of great camping. My wife scared a giant badger in the middle of the night only feet from out tent. Very cool area, lots of bears but so much food for them they don't bother with humans.
Hello my hiking friend, thank you for sharing this fine video. LaPush is such a scenic spot. The sunsets at LaPush can be breathtaking. Your video brought back some pleasant memories of decades ago. All the best of good things for you and Owen. 🤗
Oh thank you so much, Ronald! And it is definitely a beautiful spot.
I grew up there. And moved away after high school. The beach was the only thing I loved about LaPush. I love how you guys didn't let the rain ruin his birthday!
It is so beautiful!!
It is so beautiful!!
Looks like a great beach. Great birthday surprise. Have no ocean view here in Colorado but the Rockies are my view not to shabby.
The mountains take priority over a beach to me any day!!
What a nice birthday for Owen. Good on ya.
Thank you, Martin!!
I'm glad you made this video, I have been thinking about going out there, I have family in Port Angeles so I think maybe next time we head out there I'll go do some beach camping. Hike on.
It was AMAZING. I highly recommend it for sure!!
Oh boy, we got a video of Starburst in the woods... life is good again! Owen is great, fun watching you two together~
Hahaha thank you!!
It's a beautiful Dao/Zen experience, watching the blossoming of two awakened conscious spirits in love, exploring and connecting with the natural world, and with each other. 🙏☯🏞🗻🌄
I love that, Frank!!
@@JenniferMabus Words of inspiration flow easily when watching the journey of your life, as I'm sure many of your viewers can attest to.🙏😊
I've been there! It was so beautiful and green in the rainforest. And I love that you can hear the sea lions on that small distant island.
It’s such a unique place! I love it.
Great video!! Keep on keeping on!!
Thanks Yvette!! :)
love the Olympic, it's on my wish list of bikepacking trips out to Cape Flattery soon.
You definitely have to go!
Y’all are just precious together!
Oh thank you! :)
Yeah, I noticed you were rocking your pct shirt, and Garmin, too. Great BD gift. Hike On!
Thanks, Tom!!
Excellent video as always. Happy birthday to Owen. If he hasn't picked a trail name yet I'm still lobbying for Mr. Cool.
Hahah I'll have to run that by him!
Love this style video!
Thanks, Kristina!! :)
That beach was so beautiful! You guys are too cute.
Oh thank you, Erin! :) And the beach is stunning!
You two are adorable together! Very beautiful place!
Thank you, Kelly!!
WoW, so pretty. Happy Birthday. Great Video.

Thanks Jimbo! I always love hearing from you!
@@JenniferMabus If I had a daughter....well you know...!!
You had me LMAO at your majestic unicorn jump
Go Adventure! Hahaha it made me laugh, too! 🤣
So beautiful! I was there in March and hiked from La Push to Toleak Point and is still one of the best backpacking trips I’ve been on.
How far is that one?
The Whimsical Woman it’s not too far like 3-5 miles.
Awesome beach. The pacific coast has really beautiful places. And nice Audi as well 😜
Thank you thank you!
Happy birthday Owen !! Hope it was great ! 👍 😎
Thank you! It was :)
May you always be as happy as you are now ! Love the red Arc shell. Mine is red too. They are so supple it is hard to believe that it is rain gear.
Thank you, Jerry! And I LOVE mine! It was worth every penny!
That looked like a great place to relax.
Oh it definitely was!!
Great, ahí será mi próximo lugar para acampar 👏👍
Mr. Whimsical Woman, love it!
Too funny!
Oh now I remember...pitch your tent above the stream, and above high tide mark.
The trick to two left socks is to turn one inside out. :-)
Hahahah yes!
"Second Beach" takes your cinematography to a next higher level!
It sure does!
My husband proposed on a hike back from Second Beach- many many years ago. And our kid's first backackoing trip was to Scott Creek via Third Beach- so it's safe to say I have a lot of fond memories of that are.
That would have been beautiful and so special! It's such a wonderful place.
@@JenniferMabus we recently moved to a new state and it was hard when so many memories surrounded me in western Washington. But now we are starting to make new memories on new mountains so the ache starts to go away. Wishing you the best on your new adventure!
You guys are so cute. Beautiful place. Keep trekking.
Thank you, Gayle!!
Life in the PNW. When I visited there in September, I saw people doing all sorts of stuff in the rain. I know you folks love it in the rain!
Only a tad bit!! Haha you can't always wait for sunshine unfortunately.
Great to see and hear you on trail again. What pack does Owen have? Everything so beautiful and peaceful. 🎂💕Birthday wishes to your awesome man.
It's an Osprey Exos! He loves it. And thank you!!
Love the Olympic beaches!
So stunning!
The bear cannister is not for the bears , it's for that pesky critter around your tent , Racoons . The Olympic Racoons have figured out how to get into Ursaks , they got me in the 80s . 1st , 2nd and 3rd beaches are great but going north from Rialto Beach is even better , whether a day hike to Hole in the Wall or all the way to Lake Ozette Ranger station . Don't forget ShiShi beach and the Arches north of Cape Alva.
Despite some drizzle, looks like a perfect outing to the Peninsula!
So tragic to have to worry about car break ins, glad your car made it. That was one of the first things I read about when getting to know trails in WA/near Seattle. Thankfully, I made it about 5 years without a break in at THs when I lived in the NW. Hoping the streak continues when I return!
The car beak ins are such a problem. It's really unfortunate.
@@JenniferMabus Car break-ins have been a problem for a looooong time. When I was last in Washington (apparently before you were born judging from your comments vis-a-vis the birthday boy), the Leavenworth trailhead was nortorious. We took everything out of the car, left it unlocked and a note on the dash saying "unlocked." Of course the car did not have a radio or any sound system so we had no problem. The bird at 9:55 looks like a juvenile (or perhaps 1st winter) Western gull.
You two are so cute and what a wonderful adventure! I'm getting major deja vu because my family and I just did a trip in the Pacific Northwest. We went to Victoria and saw Butchart and the butterfly gardens. Stayed in Duncan, B.C., got to drive around and see Sooke, Port Renfrew. Then we went on a ferry to Port Angeles (saw dolphins and a whale on the way) and stayed there several days. Loved Next door gastropub: we went 3 times because it is so delicious! They had gluten free options, which was a nice plus for me because I'm allergic. Visited Hurricane Ridge, Lake Crescent, Sol Duc, Elwha river, Hoh Rain Forest, and La Push. So amazing and created some forever memories. The PNW is my happy place 🧡
You saw all of the most epic spots!!
Omg. You were in my backyard! Port Angeles resident. I watched your entire PCT vlog. LaPush is always magical. Its stunning in summer though! Sunsets to die for. Also, next time I highly recommend getting kyaks or SUP's for Lake Crescent. Both resorts rent for reasonable. So happy to see you adventuring. What a sweet surprise for Owen! Love Next Door Gastropub too .mmmmm!
Hi Kathryn!! You live in such a beautiful area! Thanks for the tips. That will definitely have to be on our list for next time.
@@JenniferMabus I feel very fortunate! I retire in a year and plan to do some overnight hiking up in our amazing Olympics! Hopefully with some of my grandchildren!
Whenever I said a shirt smelled my late husband would say it can't smell, it can stink but it can't smell. Funny how I now notice when people say that.
I took my youngest daughter and oldest grandson (36 and 13) there this summer and you guys got the BEST campsite...the one we hoped for but was occupied...I call that trail the "trail of crazy trees"...I've never been anywhere where there were so many crazy trees. Happy Birthday to Owen, looks like you had an awesome time! Will you all stay in the Northwest after you get married? It's so beautiful here, how can you leave???
Thank you, Lynette! We did have an amazing camp spot. Thankfully there weren't too many people! And I definitely don't want to leave the PNW but I might have to! :(
The PCT shirt lives on!!
Always and forever!
you gotta get Owen to do a LDH!! this video was great! that fart segment had my wine exploding thru my nostrils! I hope he does embrace being Mr. Whimsical Woman...….LOL
HAHAHA I am so glad you laughed at it! I thought it was too funny myself.
You're a very sweet couple. Blessings to you!
Thank you so much!!
Awsome video:) im from forks this is a awsome place:)
Forks is great!!
Did you have to reserve ? Or just showed up and payed to camp at the beach? Sorry for the questions want to camp on the beach but never done it before.
BMW..Break My Windows
XO
To you both.
where exactly are you im trying to camp on the beach ! i remember being here very young
What shoes do you have on? And do you have to have a passport to go into BC via Ferry?
I am wondering if anyone knows how and where to get permits for beach camping in washington?
Did you ever use a quilt instead of a sleeping bag?
I'm thinking of buying a katabatic quilt.
I have not! Thinking about it though!
I really loved doing the La Push and Ruby beaches as day hikes.(back in 80s). My fav Shishi....you could USE To easily access....no more. Backpackable or Uber fast hiker could day hike it BUT YOU BETTER KNOW YOUR TIDES! Could you access the seastacks at low tide???? My understanding that particular ones are sacred to the Native Americans so no more access??????
Saw you carrying your own firewood on your hike. Must be some rule against using the driftwood on the beach I guess.
There's not actually! You can use the driftwood, but the Ranger recommended we get our own because there might be slim pickings and also wet wood which doesn't help with making a fire! :)
Rain??? With that Audi...I'd just take a road trip till it stopped raining. Ya might need some Rain-x.
#TeamStarburst 👍 ⛰️🌧️
I've been there just one time.
How did you like it!?
@@JenniferMabus I like it. Reminds me of the Bay of Fundy in New Brunswick.
Nice place. Camping by the beach like that would be very nice, but I'd be concerned about rogue waves. Not sure if that's a potential problem there.
I mean, the ocean is so unpredictable sometimes! So ya, I imagine it could happen, but that area seems pretty calm!
Nice wheels!
Thank you! I am selling it soon. You interested? Lol ;)
@@JenniferMabus I wish! No the next vehicle will have to be an upgrade to my truck to pull our camper. See we have a camper to "smooth it" with the fam. But to be honest, its much easier just to put on the pack and just go hiking. That's smoothing it! Thanks for this video. My wife has family that lives in Seattle so we plan on going there sometime soon. I think it would be awesome to take them and camp at that beach.
@@JenniferMabus Why are yu selling it....what model is it...what are yu thinking about getting...?
Is it free? I wanna go
My boss: are you watching CZcams?!
Me: yes, please respect my personal space.
Boss: blank stare
Me: goes into toilet and watches.
HAHAH just laughed out loud.
I think Owen's meal was recalled!!
What!?!?
@@JenniferMabus You should look into it...just returned a BP meal the other day after I saw it was under recall for possible listeria. 😯
@@JenniferMabus www.llbean.com/recall/fettucciniAlfredo/index.html
We camped there when I was a kid back in the 80’s. We were farther to the left than you are. The dear and black bear would come out to the beach. We swam out in the surf and latched on to a log (5 of us kids) the surf started dragging us out. We were way out there before we knew it. We had to swim holding onto that log like crazy to get back in. It was so beautiful there.
That sounds like such a wonderful memory you have! It's definitely an unforgettable place.
Haha that poor man! He’s like oh no 🤦♂️ what why and then finally just somber acceptance. The four stages of the whimsical women aye ye ken know now. Lol
Hahahah he's marrying this so he has to know what he's getting himself into lol
I love you so much
I love you, too!
Oh sure , blame the boyfriend for farting in the tent . Haha . And a very happy b-day , Owen !
HAHAHAH normally it would be me ;)
Oops, your car is an Audi, not a BMW
..same rule applies I guess
proposed to my wife by the seastacks 10 years ago
Wow, I bet that was memorable!!
i did my best fake trip and when she turned around buhBam
Been there, done that. Decades worth. Been here since 1978....so I KNOW. Hey, if you enjoy the RAIN & WET, suggest a sojourn thru the ONF's Hoh Rain Forest....and you'll find out what your gear is made of. And yourself.
IF you want to really challenge yourself....suggest a Rainier climb/summit. You can AFFORD it! But can you DO it?
