  • A quick update to my prior book recommendation video with the digital component of the SAT in mind! Please drop a comment if you want me to review a resource or if you have a recommendation to try or to avoid.
    0:00 - Introduction
    If you're taking this test this year or next, I feel for you! It's challenging to take a test in the early phases, especially since the digital interface is completely new. That will lead to major changes in how to prep, so stay tuned.
    0:59 - The Game Plan
    Everyone should be practicing on Bluebook with the 6 FREE practice tests. Save 5 and 6 for when you're ready to take the test. After you take your first practice test, figure out what concepts you need to learn or question types you need strategies for.
    2:10 - Independent Study
    Use Khan Academy for practice problems and explanations, along with explanations for the practice tests. Whatever else you need, supplement it with CZcams. Trust me, it's out there!
    3:08 - The Standard Books
    If you pick one of these, it's for additional practice problems.
    Princeton Review - Great digital practice tests that mirror Bluebook.
    Barrons - Good practice tests on paper.
    Kaplan - Math sections are not the best, would not recommend.
    Don't get the College Board book! It's not worth it!
    5:40 - The Gold Standard Books
    Reading and Writing - The Critical Reader series by Erica L. Meltzer
    Math - The College Panda or PWN the SAT Math Guide
    Find authors who write good questions!
    6:57 - Conclusion and Thank You

    For the Erica L Meltzer books, should I just get the reading and writing book or should I also check out the vocabulary and critical reader books?

      @TheContemporaryClassroom  Před měsícem +1

      Great question! Right now, I would only recommend The Complete Guide to SAT Reading and The Ultimate Guide to SAT Grammar for the Digital SAT. Both are under the Critical Reader series, so just triple check you are getting the digital SAT version. I would not recommend the vocab books, as it’s better to build vocab naturally by reading news or journal articles.

    Could you please elaborate the different between Panda and Pwn maths guide… is it good to buy both?

    • @TheContemporaryClassroom
      @TheContemporaryClassroom  Před měsícem +1

      Absolutely! The Panda book assumes basic knowledge of math concepts, so it will be a better resource for someone scoring 650ish. PWN is better for people who need foundations, and I would transition to Panda after PWN is mastered because Panda has better questions. Hope this helps!

    would you suggest buying a book focused on questions rather than the ones that focus on explaining how the sat works? for instance "800+ SAT Practice Questions, 2025" from the Princeton Review

    • @TheContemporaryClassroom
      @TheContemporaryClassroom  Před 21 dnem +1

      This is a fantastic question, thank you for asking! My personal suggestion is for the books that focus on questions because I think there is a lot of great free content out there of the structure of the test. BUT if you are not the type of person to seek out those resources or you just want to have everything in one place, then go general. There is truly no better way, but there is the way that’s better for you. Hope this helps!

    Could you suggest me a book that focuses more on the study side of SAT , as in formulae, the question patterns and tricks/shortcuts , than questions?

    • @TheContemporaryClassroom
      @TheContemporaryClassroom  Před 13 dny

      The College Panda and Critical Reader series are good for question patterns. But if you’re looking solely for shortcuts and tricks, that is not my personal area of expertise. Maybe someone else might see this comment and have a better suggestion!

      Hi! There is no best book that works for everyone, so it depends on your needs. Princeton Review is currently the safest overall book.

    What is the difference between digital SAT book and paper pencil SAT book?? Can I cover my SAT preparation or digital SAT preparation completely with these books at the same time???

    • @TheContemporaryClassroom
      @TheContemporaryClassroom  Před měsícem +1

      Great question! The test format changed drastically, especially on the reading section, so I would aim to use digital books if you can. If you only have access to the older books, use the reading section for vocab exposure, but don’t do the questions. Writing and math are more comparable. Then, get your reading practice from Bluebook’s free tests.

    Hii, thank u so much. Do you know if I can get any of those books as a pdf for free?

    • @TheContemporaryClassroom
      @TheContemporaryClassroom  Před měsícem +1

      Great question! Since all the books are copyrighted, I don’t want to post links or name to anyone gracious enough to offer the material for free. My advice is to check discussion sites like Reddit because the community tends to come through!

      To get online access, you need to purchase the book or share a login with someone. If you’re just looking for a book download, see if anything is available on Google.

    Hi! what would you recommend on buying if I would like to study for the DSAT in one whole book and not have to buy two to three books for R&W and Math? I am travelling so I want to make my studies efficient and compact.

    • @TheContemporaryClassroom
      @TheContemporaryClassroom  Před měsícem

      Great question and glad you’re using part of your travel time to prep this summer. If you’re looking for a general book, go with the Princeton Review so you can have everything online. However if you need specific help on a section and feel that CZcams/Google/internet cannot cover it, only then would I say it’s worth to carry it. Hope this helps!

      @@TheContemporaryClassroom thank you for your response! To be honest I’m sort of nervous about the Princeton Review book because of the reviews on Amazon complaining that some of the full lengths test aren’t actually full length??
      I also checked Amazon and apparently they published another one recently called Princeton Review DSAT Premium Prep 2025, do you think this one is better than the 2024 one? I’m in a hurry so your response will be appreciated 😭

    • @TheContemporaryClassroom
      @TheContemporaryClassroom  Před 28 dny +1

      I have a copy of the 2024 book, and I had access to all the full length tests online. But yes, go with the 2025 version because that one probably has updates based on the March 2024 SAT!

    • @TheContemporaryClassroom
      @TheContemporaryClassroom  Před dnem +1

      Hey! I will push back a bit and say you will need practice problems eventually to practice the skills. But I recommend the Critical Reader or College Panda grammar books for concepts.

    • @TheContemporaryClassroom
      @TheContemporaryClassroom  Před 11 dny

      I would highly recommend the critical reader because you’re scoring extremely well or CZcams strategy videos. It’s very likely if you’re 700 flat one type of question is one you’re constantly getting wrong because 700 shows that you have no problem with comprehension. If you’re making more errors in grammar get the grammar version because it’s likely you need rules!
