- Luka magic. It seems like this magic has flowed through the NBA since 2018 when the then 19 year old was drafted. Not only did he easily win the rookie of the year award in his first season but since then Luka finished top 5 in the voting for the NBA Most Valuable Player award. What impresses me most about Luka though is his ability to make those around him better. Aside from an often injured Kristaps Porzingis, the Dallas Mavericks don't have really any familiar names on their roster. But because of Luka's magic, the Mavs always seem to be a lock for the playoffs despite playing in the deeper Western Conference.
Luka should be a role model for any kid that plays a sport and is told they can't and won't reach the next level because they aren't athletic enough. This is because nothing about Doncic's athleticism is going to blow you away when you watch him play basketball. It is more his experience, knowledge and endless amount of time spent practicing the fundamentals that separate him from other players even though he is sometimes accused of playing slow or not being athletic.
Then there is Luka's charisma and personality that fans just can't seem to get enough of. You can tell he is doing something that he loves and enjoying every minute of it. His interactions with guys like Nikola Jokic or his teammate Boban produce hilarious content that often go viral across the internet. It is easy to see his teammates love him and enjoy playing with him as well. For all these reasons I believe Luka will replace LeBron James as the dominant unofficial face of the entire NBA once James retires.
I thought Luka would earn his first MVP this season (I might of put money on it as a NBA Player Prop Future bet) and while he is technically still in the race, the Mavs haven't exactly played up to the expectations of this season and might need another player to help them win more consistently. They landed veteran JJ Redick at the trade deadline this week which I think could certainly help but only time will tell if Luka and the Mavs are ready to make that jump this season as the playoffs draw near. If he can do it though it certainly will leave little doubt that Luka magic is real. #LukaDoncic #Luka #NBAFunny
