    I am loving this Bhutanese series. I love that your not staying in hotels all the time and that you are being immersed in the people, their homes, their culture and their cooking. I do see common dishes but it appears every home makes there food with love and slightly different. Just like if you told two chefs to cook something and gave them the same ingredients, each would make something different yet the same. There aren't conveniences of stores on every corner to supply food variety and refrigeration is not available in moat rural homes. The Bhutanese are eating what they can grow and preserve and making flavorful food at the same time. I know my mouth stills waters, even if I have seen the dish before, so they are doing something very remarkable.

    Okay, I am so confused as to why there are so many of you here complaining about the food in Bhutan. First of all, Mark explained in his first video that there will be 20 videos about his trip to Bhutan. So if you all are complaining about how the videos are dragging on, you have an option not to watch it. Secondly, Bhutanese food repeats, it's the same like how every food repeats. I am sure every one of you are taught to respect other cultures no matter how they are, because by saying that our food is boring you, you are disrespecting our food. Our food in Bhutan are all organic and they come in different variations but it's not like we will keep inventing new dish all the time, ofcourse it will repeat, in my opinion, repeating food means that the food is edible and good, instead of experimenting all the time. I just want to end my comment by saying, if you are just going to complain, then might as well not watch it, I am sure that if I was to point things out about your culture, you would not be happy either. Bhutanese food is simple and delicious. And so are other food in different countries.

    Bhutan famous red rice, cheese, I love Bhutan's unique, original food and not mixed up with other countries because now a days many countries create their own version food by using spices from other countries but Bhutan's food is so original and unique and uses it own spices grown in Bhutan, that is why Bhutan's food is so unique and authentic .

  • @1313sp
    @1313sp Před 7 lety +4

    To all the people who are saying they are bored with this series, why don't you just stop watching then? Problem solved, you're welcome!
    And to the people who are saying that Bhutan is beautiful but the food is boring and repetitive... food IS a very big part of any culture so to insult their food IS the same as insulting their culture. Not every place around the world has the same flavors, variety and ingredients as another... that's what makes cultures unique and marvelous to experience. Clearly this IS the variety of food available in Bhutan, and lovingly made by the people there who are known to be some of the happiest around the world. Mark is showing what's authentically Bhutanese cuisine. To keep demanding more sounds like you want to impinge your unfair expectations and judgement onto the Bhutanese culture. I find that really sad and disturbing.

  • @EastWind123
    @EastWind123 Před 7 lety +2

    Mark, this is another refreshing gem. Your ability to move at the pace of the culture you are in and to avoid making constant comparisons is the mark of a good guest. The simple home cooked meals and immersion into the day-to-day culture of Bhutan is wonderful. The Bhutanese are a reminder that some of the best things in life are also the simplest... Sitting in a Bhutanese farm house... sharing a cup of hot butter tea in front of a wood burning stove... priceless...

  • @nairbllebpmac4179
    @nairbllebpmac4179 Před 7 lety +1

    That farm house looks awesome! You can't beat an experience like that. You really get to see what life is like for the indigenous population. In the 80's while on maneuvers in Germany we would sometimes stop near a farm and the family would bring us food and beer; good times.

    When Mark and Ying visits a country, they do the "road less traveled" and immerse themselves in the culture, traditions and food of the locals.... this is how the people of Bhutan eats, that is whats available in their villages, home grown veggies, free range animals, and tons of cheese and chilles, they cook and eat what is available to them...Organic! not fast food, no preservatives, no process foods, no can foods, no hotdogs, no Mcdonalds....
    Do not compare western foods to the food in `Bhutan....if you dont like their food, then dont go there, go to Europe or any country you want to visit where you can eat all the food you want.... this is Mark's vlog--his food and travel vlog, he can go where he wants to go and eat what he wants to eat.... thats what makes his videos unique.... you want to see other countries and eat the food you want to eat? then do your own vlog and feature your own travels...PEACE!

    I do have a comment for those who are putting the food down, most people there do not have much in the way of being able to grow food on a harsh land you complain that the food is boring but I find from what I have seen is that the food looks wholesome and very tasty their culture is beautiful and the people seem so respectful of others ad give what they have to feed others. Please don't disrespect them because the food is not to your liking or it looks the same and it may look the same but the taste is different in each house. Try to understand where they live and their culture .

      I am a fussy eater to have been since I was a child, I wouldn't eat eggs unless the yoke was the right color, really fussy about meats and how others cook them, just because people are fussy eaters doesn't mean they don't eat much texture in food is so complex those are other ways people are fussy, so Rozi Rana don't get upset over someone who is ignorant over things, I am glad that Mark and Ying have helped you to increase your diversity of different foods :)

      Onglar No it's not I eat in restaurants and at other people's homes yes I am fussy but my fussiness is when meats are going rotten and how clean their kitchen are, and in my house I do all the cooking so I don't think I annoy anyone who cooks for me.

    This series reminds me of the book Lost Horizon by James Hilton. In that story, a British diplomat is in a plane flying out of India that is hijacked and flown towards Tibet and crashes. He survives along with 3 others and they seek shelter in a Lamasery high up in the mountains. It is called Shangri La. Shangri La is supposed to be a sanctuary where all that is good and right in the world would survive an oncoming war of death and destruction from the skies. After that war was over the good things in life preserved by the Lamasery would be brought back to the world to provide relief from the emotional and physical exhaustion of the war. Thus too this series on Bhutan provides emotional relief from our daily 24-7 world of exhausting news and upsets. Yes the food is familiar and similar. Yes the serene scenery is similar. The people and buildings look similar. The point is to get lost in this world for awhile. To escape the madness we are bombarded with daily. That is what I am doing and I hope other people are getting the same thing.

    to all the negative whiners. ..these are videos from 2 years ago...mark has had the added pressure of doing diplomatic balancing. ..mark and ying have been places alot of us will never see....I appreciate their videos soo much...the scenery is stunning!!!!
    if you think the food looks like it's getting boring ...can you imagine them having to eat it. .day in and day out!!!
    Id trade some repetitive healthy. ..hearty food that's grown right where they're eating it for the privilege of being allowed to film the beautiful countryside!!!
    these videos were held for 2 years by the Bhutanese government before they could show them. ..
    sorry for the rant. ..😊

    These home cooked meals seem like simple but delicious. In this cold environment, the heavy, hot flavors from chili and cheese and fat can be a special temptation. May be it’s not a good idea to eat everyday, but interesting for traveling.

    Great series on Bhutan. As always, an exploration of a culture's food is a doorway into its history and its development. What is in store for this country that appears to be holding on to its traditional way of life and yet as a result of opening its doors to trade and tourism looks like it has pretty well caught up with the rest of the modern world. These videos were done during a visit two years ago. I wonder if Mark went back in a year or two, what kind of changes he would find in the city/town centres and in the farmhouses where he's stayed.

    I learnt something new today ... didn't know that you could eat oats with curries as a savoury meal. Also, will be sure to try making the cheesy mushrooms. Love that we not only get to know what foods each ethnicity in each country eats, we also get a free tour of the place as if we personally went there on holiday too. Thank you once again Mark for the outstanding experiences, foods and travels 😀👌
