Be sure to listen to my favorite song, "Senses Working Overtime!"
Thanks to my buddy Aaron from Blame Society Films for sharing his collection and impressive XTC knowledge...
/ blamesocietyfilms - Hudba
As a big fan of BlameSocietyFilms and XTC, this video warms my heart.
This video introduced me to XTC! Been listening to them since, and it has been a great discovery for my musical taste. Thank-you for this contribution.
1977-1983 Yielded the best music you will EVER hear :)
now I like you two even more...
i live in swindon!!!
Its good they have some recognition at last,
thankss Greg and Aaron!
Thank you very much for introducing me to this band. I love it!
Glad you guys mentioned "The Dukes of Stratosphear". Amazing music on the two albums under this name. They tend to get overlooked/lost in the shuffle since they were not under the XTC name.
Just learned that Andy's two kids, Holly Partridge and Harry Partridge are fully grown and making careers of their own! Holly's a musician (sounds a bit like Andy musically) and Harry is an hilarious animator. Their stuff is on CZcams if you search it.
How have I not heard of this band before? Gon have to check 'em out.
How can anyone not like a song with lyrics like this?:
"Will you smile like any father
With your children on a Sunday hike?
When you get to a sea of rubble
And they ask ``What was London like?''
You tell them, ``Ah well, that's the world over''
Will you tell them about that far off and mythical land
And how a child to the virgin came?
Will you tell them that the reason why we murdered
Everything upon the surface of the world
So we can stand right up and say we did it in his name? "
Ahh!!! Sounds like fun music Greg (and Mr. Yonda), thanks for the recommendation man!!!
I LOVE XTC!
@blamesocietyfilms Thank you for this interesting tidbit! I am going to look now.
awesome! I was hoping you were into XTC! YAY!
Can relate. Love black sea. And go tooo
@blamesocietyfilms HOLY SHIT! i would just like to say that i think you guys are really on to something, you show the world that you dont need special effects or super fancy editing to make a funny and great video, you guys are the reason im still making videos! keep up the good work!
It's my favorite , I have all xtc . Andy also has some great solo albums to.
Hey Greg this is the sponsored vid that comes up on Death Cab's favorite XTC video. Pretty sweet.
I freakin love XTC
@EmperorZod Oops! You're totally right. I know that Dylan wrote that song. But it will always be Hendrix's performance in my mind!
Dukes of Stratiphere is a GREAT album. I was hoping you would mention that one.
I now have 25 O'clock stuck in my head.
I got chest pains when you called a cover of "All Along the Watchtower" a Hendrix cover. Augh.
Sir Yonda is really knowledgeable about his favorite band~ lol
After Todd Rundgren produced them, he said he would never work with them again, because he couldn't stand the fighting, and thought they were nuts!
@Philinspaces Totally!
@Blammeth Maybe in their later work, but their early stuff sounds like not-the-beatles.
@Kinwish Barry was alright. I like his songs. He had a different style. I think Andy Partridge worked with him again a while ago so no hard feelings it sounds like.
Aaron!
Dukes of Stratosphear XD My love explodes :) I love XTC... Steven Wilson from Porcupine Tree cites them both as influences to his music. As well as Robert Fripp / King Crimson... good stuff
@SMGleader Thanks.
Oooh, oh, oh, my statue of liberty! Wo-oh!
I would suggest creating a Pandora station based on them or one of their songs. Apparently 'Then She Appeared' on 'Nonsuch' exemplifies their style.
Wow Greg, you have TWO friends named Aaron that love XTC.
Great work, guys! Terry Chambers is an English lad from Swindon, btw - although he did move to Australia! :)
kettlezone He's back in Swindon and recording!
You have AC/DC cap! I was at their concert. :)
Hey, its the dude from those gay leprechaun videos. You def gotta make more of those. They're brilliant
We are trippin' on XTC! Hedgin' in our defect sexuality! Don't you wanna bang us, wanna be like me? We are trippin' on XTC now!
Hallucino genius!
Jason and the Argo.
@youser96R Awesome
i have not seen part 3 yet
blues... have you done that jazz and blues..? can you please hubby is in a bind for new music!
@socratesjr so is johnny, jimmy, stewart, albert, tony and tons more!
@BrotherRobBob Being the idiot or big fan of XTC that I am, I just had to look up the concert you went to. You remember the year right but it was October 15th, The first show of the second tour of America that year.
Coolio greg! How many CDS Have you Actually got? :)
I wish Nonsuch was on Vinyl.... :o(
XTC is great when I'm in the mood for them.
You guys ever listen to Cynic?
GREG!! HEY GREG OVER HERE !!!!! LOOK AT THIS COMMENT PLEASE !!!!! PSSST OVER HERE! PLEASE GIVE US A SHOUT OUT!
I recognised the singles named. Figured I could pick up a "best of", then realised I have one, just ain't listened to it for ages. Cheers, that's something for later today then. :)
How about starting a "first album bought" thing going with you and all your many notable friends? First album tends to be less embarassing than "first single"
First Album: Adam and the Ants :Kings of the Wild Frontier. Still cool.
First Single: Auf Wiedersehen Pet theme tune. Never was cool.
@SMGleader Hi!
you may be the man who murdered love but i'm the man who sold the world :P where does Bowie rank in your top 1k? and XTC is good stuff, nice to hear someone singing with an accent. (and you should try watching this transcribed, it was a complete accident but the translations are quite funny "and i think it was in 1982 at a concert and he recently got stage fright")
@ronpurtee Yeah I had an ex-girlfriend who's crazy sister thought she was into devils because "Dear God" says the word devil in it.
Are you familar with T. Roth and Another Pretty Face which happens to be Zipster08's band from back in the 70's? There's some old music videos of them here on CZcams
@ryz86 ahhhhhhh duuuuuuuuuudeeeeeeee.......now I get it. I'm such a pumpkinhead. wish my name wasn't peter. did u know that "peter" that is a euphemism for slong?
the last show he ever played.
ever, right?
no.
Ehow do i become an expert at XTC?
i was waiting for a punch-line
LISTEN TO SPARKLEHORSE PLEASE :)
Caps lock always attracts attention! :D
XTC is the shit! one great song you didn't mention is Generals and Majors
"im from swiften in the uk" ROFLMAO who does not like blamesocietyfilms
I bet you both had really funny looking hair when you were teenagers.
@blamesocietyfilms well obviously we r all gonna have different opinions, but i like travis
Hmm... I wonder if I've heard of them before... Seems like I've heard the name before... Hmm...
@Azin513 Well, if you're going to go there I really think John Bonham is the best drummer ever, but I'm no expert.
xtc, what's not to like?
whats this i hear about a wheezywaiter collab video?
@mediocrefilms2 What? I thought Anders from Battlestar Galactica wrote that song.
not half assed.... whole assed... ha!!!
black sea is chief
Right...NOW *beat* beat* --video end--
xtc is ecstasy. 4 real.
I always thought it was pronounced ecstasy.
@thecomfyshirt Yeah but they don't like doing that way because they can't make a cd cover that way
are you sure u didnt jsut do thois so you could put '' do you like xtc'' in your title?
Dang! I thought the CD douchebaggery was over with! Most of your viewers apparently didn't get the joke that you were douchebagging THEM this time. Maybe they'll get it now. Maybe you should set up mediocrefilms3 just for descriptions of CDs of random people.
The first drummer, Terry something!? Who are these clown boys?
3rd
this is gay, two men talking about oranges and lemons
Andy was addicted to Valium and his breakdown was a result of his former wife forcing him to go full cold-turkey. I talked to him a lot about it. He's very Open about it. And if you like odd minutia: Andy was a big Comic Book Fan and Collector and he appears as a character in The Legion of Superheroes #8, and as side Character Andy Peartree (along with Greg Daveory) in the Comic Series, WildStar. Fun<
I guess I disagree with some of what Aaron says. Skylarking is great and Todd's production is awesome too. And Prairie is an amazing Drummer... and it's "Dukes of Stratosphere..." not "Dukes of THE Stratosphere..." hehe...
third
@Azin513 Sooooooo many better drummers... my current favorite is Chris Tsagakis from Rx Bandits.Check him out if you want your life to be infinitely improved.
I love this video, that is until you started discussing "Skylarking." You dudes act like they've heard some demos or an alternate version of the album before saying the album was produced wrongly. Sorry guys, but when you do this kind of thing you sound completely ignorant.
First?
I think it's very weak of the singer to not work on his phobia, if not for himself, but for the sake of the band. I am sure they're a great band though.
@TheAdrian341 learn to be sarcastic
first
i have to disagree, i think Travis Barker is the best drumer ever
How come Greg hangs out with this guy- he doesn't seem to have even the slightest sense of humor?
I might be completely wrong though...
boooooooooooorrrrrring
