    In this session, John MacArthur preaches on the conference theme, the doctrine of Christ. He preaches from Isaiah 53:
    Who has believed what he has heard from us?
    And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?
    For he grew up before him like a young plant,
    and like a root out of dry ground;
    he had no form or majesty that we should look at him,
    and no beauty that we should desire him.
    He was despised and rejected by men,
    a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief;
    and as one from whom men hide their faces
    he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
    Surely he has borne our griefs
    and carried our sorrows;
    yet we esteemed him stricken,
    smitten by God, and afflicted.
    But he was pierced for our transgressions;
    he was crushed for our iniquities;
    upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
    and with his wounds we are healed.
    All we like sheep have gone astray;
    we have turned-every one-to his own way;
    and the Lord has laid on him
    the iniquity of us all.
    He was oppressed, and he was afflicted,
    yet he opened not his mouth;
    like a lamb that is led to the slaughter,
    and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent,
    so he opened not his mouth.
    By oppression and judgment he was taken away;
    and as for his generation, who considered
    that he was cut off out of the land of the living,
    stricken for the transgression of my people?
    And they made his grave with the wicked
    and with a rich man in his death,
    although he had done no violence,
    and there was no deceit in his mouth.
    Yet it was the will of the Lord to crush him;
    he has put him to grief;
    when his soul makes an offering for guilt,
    he shall see his offspring; he shall prolong his days;
    the will of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.
    Out of the anguish of his soul he shall see and be satisfied;
    by his knowledge shall the righteous one, my servant,
    make many to be accounted righteous,
    and he shall bear their iniquities.
    Therefore I will divide him a portion with the many,
    and he shall divide the spoil with the strong,
    because he poured out his soul to death
    and was numbered with the transgressors;
    yet he bore the sin of many,
    and makes intercession for the transgressors. he delivered him over to them to be crucified.

      They really struggle on the smaller points of worship as well. Such as the only instrument allowed in church are your heartstrings (never did figure out how to pluck them).
      But salvation hinged on baptism and you can lose it in a heartbeat. That is not biblical.

      @Alpha Javascript Church of Christ. The most important thing that made me dig deeper was the need for baptism to be saved.
      So even if a person believes the gospel but they die in an accident on the way to get baptized, they go to hell. No matter how broken over sin, how much they repented, they are out of luck.

      How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord,
      Is laid for your faith in His excellent word!
      What more can He say than to you He hath said,
      To you who for refuge to Jesus have fled?
      2
      “Fear not, I am with thee, O be not dismayed,
      For I am thy God, and will still give thee aid;
      I’ll strengthen thee, help thee, and cause thee to stand,
      Upheld by My righteous, omnipotent hand.”
      3
      “When through the deep waters I call thee to go,
      The rivers of sorrow shall not overflow;
      For I will be with thee, thy troubles to bless,
      And sanctify to thee thy deepest distress.”
      4
      “When through fiery trials thy pathway shall lie,
      My grace, all sufficient, shall be thy supply;
      The flame shall not hurt thee; I only design
      Thy dross to consume, and thy gold to refine.”
      5
      “E’en down to old age all My people shall prove
      My sovereign, eternal, unchangeable love;
      And then, when grey hairs shall their temples adorn,
      Like lambs they shall still in My bosom be borne.”
      6
      “The soul that on Jesus hath leaned for repose,
      I will not, I will not desert to his foes;
      That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake,
      I’ll never, no, never, no, never forsake!”

      Jehovah is an English way of saying "Yahovah" but most scholars believe YHWH was likely pronounced "Yahweh". I can't remember the exact reference but I have a vague memory of reading that an ancient Greek writer said the Jews of his day pronounced it as "Yahwa" which certainly is closer to Yahweh than "Yahova". When all is said and done not even the Holy Spirit is going to force someone to do the research needed to find out about the inscriptions of YHWH that have been found and their likely pronunciation.

    • @friedrichrubinstein2346
      @friedrichrubinstein2346 Před 2 lety

      @@tmcge3325 The Messiah is the Lamb, yes. That doesn't exclude the Lamb from being God. Paul says in Colossians 2:9 "For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form" so "that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ" (2 Cor 5:19).
      In Matthew 14:33 we read: "Then those who were in the boat worshipped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God"." Only the one true God may be worshipped in Jewish culture; the actions of the disciples prove that they had recognized that Jesus was God. And Jesus did not correct them or said “Do you not see that I am also just a mortal prophet? Don't worship me! ”He accepted their worship because he knew that he was God in human form.
      Jesus himself makes it very clear in John 8:58 where he says: "Very truly I tell you, before Abraham was born, I am!” And then we read: "At this, they picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds." His audience understood what he was saying, but they didn't believe that he was God and took it as a reason to kill him.
      And also in John 10:30: "I and the Father are one." Again they want to stone him because he clearly says that he himself is God.
      Another example is John 20:28-29. Thomas says to Jesus "My Lord and my God!", but instead of correcting him Jesus confirms it by saying “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
      In case that's not enough evidence for you to realize that Jesus is indeed God himself you may take a look at Colossians 1:15-16 where Paul says that Jesus is the creator of the universe (same as John 1:3; John 1:10 and Hebrews 1:2) and at Titus 2:13-14 where Paul calls Jesus "our great God".
      Oh and don't forget the powerful testimony of John: "In the beginning was the Word, …, and *the Word was God.* [...] *The Word became flesh* and made his dwelling among us." That's Jesus!

    A Gentile Looks at Isaiah 53.
    From a Gentiles perspective, Isaiah 53 really looks fulfilled in Jesus Christ. 53 is not about the nations acknowledging a misunderstanding about Israel...it better fits the Isaiah Servant narrative, of God's promise of worldwide salvation to the Gentiles. Chap 42 starts with the Servant's great success in bringing salvation to the Gentiles. 49 talks about the Servant bringing salvation to the Gentiles,, and both calls Him Israel, and distinguishes Him from the nation of Israel in the same way a leader of people both represents the people and is other than them. 52 ends with the Gentiles being surprised at this Servants suffering, and 53 explains the purpose of His suffering being an almah, a guilt offering that atones for our sins, and brings forgiveness and righteousness to us. 55 identifies the One Who brings this salvation to the Gentiles as Messiah, and tells all mankind, Gentiles and Jews to repent and seek the Lord, and we will be forgiven.
    If I didn't know one word of the New Testament, I would recognize this theme as being obviously fulfilled in history, the worldwide rise of Christianity, started by the crucifixion of Jesus Christ for our sins, His resurrection; and the viral expansion of the Church.

    Ok if you commit suicide.

Having said that. .if hypothetically you lived in 1942 Poland and was sent to Auschwitz and in the first few hours there had to do back breaking forced labor while getting whipped by the SS. .maybe you would be broken enough after a week of that to want to run to that electrified fence. .

    Christians need to read Isaiah 41-52
    It explains who the servant is. And it’s not jesus.
    Reading Isaiah 53 and only 53 without reading the chapters before it, is like watching 10 seconds of a 2 hour movie, and expecting to know everything about that movie.

    The LOUD CRY.
    REVELATION 14: 6-12 NOW GOING OUT WORLD WIDE.
    6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,
    7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.
    8 And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.
    9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,
    10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
    11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.
    12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
