Iain - Thank you for yet another excellent video on the Miura. Currently have a '67 P400 (one of the first 100) and formerly a '71 SV . Rather that go through the detailed differences, I have to say that a huge difference is the very early 0.9 mm car is much, much more visceral. I have had both on race scales and even with the monstrous AC compressor off my '71, the car is 175-200 lbs heavier. But the real difference is not just the added mass of the more civilized, later cars... the very early cars (i.e., first 100 - 125) have a much lighter, intricate driven plate. The car revs more like a motorcycle, but clutch work with the low rotational inertia of the first cars was beyond the capabilities of the wealthy entertainment type people who originally bought the car. Dallara could explain exactly why they had to add more rotational inertia and somewhat deaden the response of the car. The early car jumps... anyone who has driven these early cars knows this... but certainly it is a more fragile car that one should look after.
Finally, the HP figures are indeed Italian fabrication. Bob Wallace said that all variants were around 325 real HP. Why? The Series II S and SV have 32 mm intake runners and Weber venturis versus the P400 and early S series are 30 mm. The answer is that available fuel Octane ratings were declining during the period of Miura production. Static timing advance went from 22 degrees (P400), 20 degrees (P400S) to 18 degrees (P400SV). The real horsepower is a wash, as later cars have more retarded timing. Regardless, all Miura owners should be using special fuel. Thanks again Iain.

I had the pleasure of seeing the first showing of the Miura at the Earls court motor show in 1967, It was tucked away in a side room with a couple of fiberglass bodied design studies (I think by Ogle?). For me it blew my mind as it was so different from all other cars on show! I was a body design apprentice with Rootes group at the time, and was on duty on their stand for the duration of the show. Every time I had off from stand duty I would go and view it & it has stuck in my mind as the single car that change sports (super)cars for ever!! I still have the original poster hanging in my office. (all sun bleached and faded)!

Hello Agian, Hello Iain, back in 1969 I watched 'The Itatian Job' at a cinema in Worcester (I was on holiday), I was 17, my friend's father saw the film a few weeks later, based on the film he placed an order for a Lamborghini Miura, I seem to remember it took many months to arrive, it was 'green', a real eye catcher back in Birmingham in1971. Love the detail of your 'vlogs'. Best regards. RichardA.

I’ve always loved the Miura, though I’m just a shade to young to have had one as a poster on my bedroom wall. It is said LJK Setright from Car magazine was the first person to use the term supercar in his review of the Miura for said publication. He brought one of the early cars back from the factory to the U.K. for it’s lucky owner. I still love the iconic footage from the introduction to the Italian Job film and turn the volume up loud just to experience the noise of that wonderful V12 on the St Bernard Pass. Fascinating video Ian on the differences between the models and explaining the rear suspension setup was a delight; I love finding out about engineering like this. Great stuff.

The Miura SV is just, well there are no words, just Power and grace personified, there are no videos of the SV really doing what it does best, I.E running at real speed, I love it. It's in my top 10 list of cars, my favourite car is the 6.3 litre Aston Martin V8 Vantage x pack, from the 1980s, funnily enough my son and I wrote a letter and sent a drawing to Aston Martin of how we felt the new Aston Martin should be like and based on the 1977 Vantage but more aggressive and slightly sleeker in around 2003 saying that the new Aston Martin cars lacked the charisma of the 1977/80s Vantage etc, and low and behold they brought out the Aston Martin Victor, which has a striking resemblance of the drawing we sent Aston Martin, we still have the reply from Aston Martin which was so lovely, so I believe that manifestation works, as the car we invisioned has been created, a very strange feeling my son and I had when it was revealed, it makes one wonder lol. Anyway bit of a long story I know, but I thought I would share it. Thanks very much for your time

Love the nerdiness. Miura's are so aesthetically pleasing to the eye particularly the P400 and P400S - I could spend all day just looking at one. Iain, if you get an SVJ can you do a review of that car especially on the technical bits?

Just amazing, I never really appreciated the Miura until Iain’s videos and enthusiasm came into my life, all three cars are just so jaw droppingly beautiful, rebuilt and restored to absolute perfection by by Iain and his team. To have all 3 in the garage together says rather a lot about the respect the owners have for Iain’s work, they are the custodians, Iain owns them and loves them like his children. Passion sums it up, SV would be my choice, the interior of the gen one car is gorgeous. Congratulations Iain, you have every right to be proud.
