This one took a while to analyze. There was so many different things that connected throughout 5 rounds, it's something that hardly happens in a fight. Hope you guys enjoy!
The best ones take time, these are always worth the wait weasle
@@flashpointprdx Yeah, this fight might be the most technical striking match in UFC history. Definitely going to take that time.
You should try take Phd about MMA lol, I don't know how many time you re-watch the fight, thanks for your dedication for this one
@@TheWeasleMMA i disagree. volk max is on par
@@TheWeasleMMA Btw do you think Cory was robbed?
Yan's fight IQ is ridiculous. The way he makes reads on his opponents and adjusts over time is phenomenal to watch.
he's up there with volk in terms of fight iq. makes me wanna see them go at it
@stopcensorship yan is taller than volk, he just needs to put some muscle on.
@@puskas_baller comparing their frame, Volk has a really wide body
Seriously, he’s such a badass. Can’t wait to see him mop the floor with aljo
And he is so underrated
As Dustin said, Yan is so precise and technical with his movements he doesn't move unnecessarily at all so that he can have the energy and power in punches for all five rounds. This guy is a treat to watch.
Seeing the still frames I have even more appreciation for him. He’s almost always balanced and putting out perfect strikes. Crazy
Exactly! His efficiency is his most impressive attribute. It’s what won him the later rounds as he was the fresher fighter
Yeah, it annoys me quite a bit with fighters that are moving like crazy non-stop, for no reason, accomplishing nothing of value.
@@HiddenStr3ngth ...throwing wild kicks from way out of left field, Gas guzzling waste of energy
Even a guy like poirier looks up to yan, respect
Most anticipated breakdown of a fight so far. FOTY 2021 for me, by far.
What about Gaethje vs Chandler, that’s surely the clear FOTY
@@user-nl2kt9jc9p they slowed down in the 3rd round.. and let's be honest, it wasn't very technical. obviously phenomenal fight but this one took the cake for me.
@@KvotheMMA fair enough mate, Yan v Sandhagen was deffinatly more technical! I kinda disagree on it slowing down other than the last 30 seconds but I think that can be easily forgiven😂 both amazing fights in their own right
Justin G vs Mic C was an entertaining fight but IMO its not even close to Yan vs cory. To me this is the best FOTY so far and dont see any other fight topping this. Why? Coz this was so technical, non-stop, intelligent fighting that I was just mentally exhausted and found Jan vs Glover bit boring and slow afterwards. Both Justin and Mic C took heavy shots and there was not much technical skill on display. Mic C was almost done and he kind of bought himself some time while running away from Justin and cheering people. If it were in my control I would not even put any fights from featherweight upwards aftet a Yan fight coz these guys are so fast and technical that it kills all the thrill in any higher weight class fights. Yan is p4p number 1 skilled fighter on roaster now. Unless sombody is some BJJ wizard catching him with submission I dont see him losing in long time. Would have loved to see CCC vs Yan just to see if olympic Gold medal level wrestling can pose some challenge.
Ortega vs volk was a belter
Yan is the epitome of late game hero in mma. Gets stronger or remains the same as the fight progresses
Lol “or remains the same” just sounds like a s scary thing imagine you being extremely exhausted and the guy across from you looking as fresh as he did in the 1st round in the 4th 🤣
That shift combination to spinning back backfist was the cleanest technique. One perpetual motion with zero telegraph whatsoever. Props to both of them. Definitely FOTY 2021 for me.
Yea definitely fight of the year and the spinning backfist was beautiful. Great fight even thou I wanted Sandman to win still a great display from both men and the better man on the night won
100% best two in the division! They could fight each other every 3 months and I would watch every single time!
Corey is such a warrior, hope he comes back better than ever
He is. Too emotional tho
He only lost to Champ and former champs, that's proof of how great is he, if he can stay with this rhythm and learning past mistakes he'll be future champion
@@blockeduser9441 Cory didn't fight munhoz or Font
He only lost in UFC to Champ sterling, and former champions Dillashaw and Yan
@@blockeduser9441 too emotional?
He's destined to be a nearly man. Fantastic fighter though.
FINALLY WE GET THE BREAKDOWN FOR THIS EPIC FIGHT. THANK YOU WEASLE🙏❤️
My pleasure man. Learned quite a bit while breaking this down.
This was the best fight of this year ,in my opinion
@@TheWeasleMMA Learned and even made some stuff up. Suggesting Yan simply trying to prevent Cory from getting away, was him trying to use his arm as a lever. 😂 Yan as the shorter fighter who knows Cory is going to back up or take an angle to exit, so Yan grabs his body a couple times to slow the exit and his ability to create distance. You say "he's trying to use his arm as a lever to create momentum". Haha. For a guy who understands certain aspects of fighting, you also say some real silly stuff at times. If anything, that holding is taking power off of his punch. Holding his body completely disrupts his kinetic chain and punching mechanics.
Corey was giving Yan all he can handle for the first 2 rounds but as always Yan was next level in the later rounds
Yan takes off the first round lol it’s almost always his worst round
Yan won the second round
@@mattreid8292 on paper it's his worst round but it's how he wins the fight. Energy stays low. Demoralized his opponent and studies opponents movement.
You throw everything you have at a guy, while you are at your freshest, and he asks for more. Its very demoralizing. So when you are more exhausted, you start thinking what can I do to this man that I wasn't able to do already?
@@roberjohnsmith I don’t think it would demoralize his opponent if anything it would motivate them
Petr Yan impresses me alot more in every fight. I have the highest expectations because of the skill set he displays in the previous fight, and he always somehow blows my mind. His fight IQ and mental fortitude is scary. I’ve never seen someone so efficient and intelligent
He was declared as a Master Of The Sport Of Boxing For Reason Lol, literally has a license in boxing
Maaaaan, what an incredible matchup that completely lived up to the hype. I would watch these two fight every weekend. Great breakdown as always, your videos are my favorite MMA content by far and I’m always looking forward to the next! Keep up the great work man, we all appreciate it 👊🏼
For me this was fight* of the year
All these reads and adjustments made in the midst of a UFC title fight, I think these guys just elevated the level of this sport with this fight 👏
We haven't seen a fight on this kind of level. Closest is probably Volk vs Holloway 2.
Petr Yan's fight IQ and skill reading ability must be tipping 200 and over
It's actually over 9,000 lol
@@blaze556922 i was about to type the same shit
😂😂😂 indeed , most definitely
That spinning hook kick by yan at the end of the fight was just beautiful
Bantamweight has never been this stacked and exciting until now we got killers in their TJ,Yan,Cory,Aljo,Aldo,Font it probably top 3 most toughest divisions with welterweight and lightweight
Featherweight is also extremely competitive too, as is Strawweight. This just shows how stacked the current UFC roster really is.
Aljo is no killer he is a coward
@@Ar1AnX1x joahnna fell off the rankings and isn't likely to fight again anytime soon, rose and Zhang won't fight again, so dern and McKenzie? Yeesh least stacked division on the roster imo like it's always been
Don't forget Merab, that guy is also very promising
@@ngatiwarrior6975 I think women’s Featherweight and Bantamweight wins first and second place
Aljo going to fake his own death after watching Yan win😂💀
Man, not like this. I didn’t wanna die like this man…whaaa
@@Thebuird shows off on insta 6 hours later
💩💩💩💩💩
Pretty beautiful match.
We got a skilled striker (one of the most technically gifted of UFC) that preasures his opponent to follow his rythm and a more balanced fighter that uses his fight IQ to adapt any opponent he has in front
Yan is the best fighter in the world. He is the perfect MMA fighter. His strategizing, IQ, power, speed, striking defense, takedown defense, getups, leg kicks, body punches.. He's incredible. There's no one on Earth that can beat him.
Let's pit him against Francis Ngannou.
Zoarmhirr eazy dub for my man Yan.
I've been watching fighting for a while. And besides his grappling, because we just havent seen him use his Jiu jitsu, i have to agree. So incredibly well rounded, so good everywhere. Indeed one of the goats
He did lose against Magomed Magomedov but that was a split decision. And I think Yan had a point deducted as well.
I do think some people at fw could beat him not because they are more skilled but because they are a lot bigger. Volkanovski is the only one who is close to him in technique and iq + he has a size advantage. Max might beat him with volume but he has sloppy defence and Yan rarely gets hit clean so I think it could be closer than Weasle says but I’m certainly no expert. The rest idk about. My take at least.
In his division, maybe. There's only one perfect record in the UFC. Yan ain't beating The Eagle
This breakdown was so worth the wait. Yan has to be the most analytical fighter in the UFC, maybe ever. His adaptations and ability to condition his opponent with his lateral counters just feels next level.
He is a complete specimen and I don't know who would be able yo beat him, potentially a grappler of they have equal technique and patience in their own style, like Aljo lol.
This video made me forget Aljo exists until the 17:40 mark.
Weasle, you have outdone yourself. This was an excellent excellent breakdown and I was hooked from the 1st second. 👍🏻
Thank you so much man, I put a lot of time into this. Petr Yan seems to be the most technical fighter, up there with Volk.
@@NightmareOni ? You do know Volkanovski has a longer reach than almost everyone in the featherweight division?
@@wesleywilliams318 volk hasn't faced giga chikadze yet. The man who is going to take over the division and show volk that there is even another level.
@@TheWeasleMMA Yan is also one of the dirtiest fighters in the game. Lost to Aljo with a illegal knee. Lost to magomedov with a point deduction for constantly hitting him in the back of the head. Even in their 2nd fight he did the same thing and got a warning.
Pull john dodson's hair. Kicked dodson in the groin and smiled about it. Happy a ref saw his dirty antics and finally paid the price for it with a DQ.
@@GoodStuff1992 Yan is a straight up killer, He is built for fighting.
im just mad that this wasnt really for the undisputed belt
it really delivered in every way and i think cory was more deserving than aljo even after losing to him how he did
You realize his wins over Moraes and Edgar was after he got dominated by Aljo
Aljo 100% deserved the title shot over him.
@@dangerouslydubiousdoubleda9821 I’m not saying Aljo wasn’t deserving of that title fight but he should have been stripped already and this fight should’ve been for the title.
Petr was owed that given the ass whopping he gave Aljo and all of the delays since then. I think Cory did enough to work back to the title fight plus was ready when no one else was.
This fight delivered big time so seeing only an interim belt at the end of it was a sour taste..
@@STRmw2 I can see that but then Petyr would be winning a championship not defending.
he would still have 0 title defenses.
@@dangerouslydubiousdoubleda9821 yeah just win back your belt tbh
20:11
This fight wins my favorite fight thus far this year for consisting of high level technical skills from both sides of the fight. For 5 rounds too. Just super impressive on both parts from these 2 🤘
In terms of enjoying the arts this fight for me as well. Feel like there were some great ones early in year too.
Omg Petr Yan is fantastic. He just has an ability to slowly make you worse as the fight goes on. It’s like just his presence EMPs his opponents skills. So unique
Thanks my g. Happy holidays and great weekend
Thank You for all that you do. Your efforts are appreciated.
Loved this man. Thank you weasel. I always want to become better when i get a nugget of wisdom through the fight game in your voice and videos.
Been waiting for this one.
Glad you took your time with it
Finally here! Been waiting for this one for sure!!! Thanks for all the work 😙 you put in brother!!!
Been waiting on this one ! Thank you 🙏
Great job, loved this breakdown.
Thank you Mr.Weasle, i was anticipated for this one!
Another great breakdown. Always as honest as possible.
2 years later still my favorite MMA fight of all time.
Cory showed that he's the 2nd best bantamweight. Yan is just a beast to be reckon with.
But Aljo is the champ ;) 🤡
Aljo choked him unconscious and TJ beat him after a two year layoff I'd say hes fourth at best
@@deionjohnson8683 Bro Tank Vue is clapped
TJ and Aljo beat Cory tho
Lmao no he isn't he got destroyed in one round by Aljo
Great analysis of great analysts! Thanks, greatly enjoyed and learned a lot.
FINALLY !!! Been waiting for this since the fight, my new favorite fight.
Hell yeah. I been waiting for this since the fight happened, figured you werent doing it. Nice way to start the day
We been waiting on this 🤩
Thanks weasel. Excellent content 👌.
The two of the best BWs." That hurt Aljo". The footwork of Sand was impressive he was never stationary.
Excellent breakdown. Definitely enjoyed watching this fight. Such a good war.
🔥👏🏾👏🏾 Well done. We all appreciate the time you took to break down both of their reads. Helps to understand why the have tendencies and why they choose their weapons at specific times
Well. Staying up to 3 am worked out this time!
Weasle the 🐐
I’m not gonna lie I’ve checked your channel every day since to see if you’d uploaded this 😂
Great fight, excellent breakdown as always and looking forward to seeing both these guys fight again soon. These last few months have been a treat for fans of this sport
this breakdown is really informative. I‘m always devestated by the depth of your analyses.
(sorry for bad english)
*FINALLY* the *breakdown* *video* the *ENTIRE* *WORLD* has BEEN *WAITING* *For!!!!* even *Sandhagen* and *Yan* were *probably* *waiting* for this!! #WeaselTheGOAT
Love this breakdown. Such high level IQ from both guys. Yan is probably my favorite fighter right now, a scary dude to fight. Like a terminator constantly analyzing a way to kill. Cory stood in there right with him and gave him a lot to work for. Lots of respect to both guys.
Thank you so much for this amazing breakdown weasel. If anybody were to do this fight justice it was you 🙌
Excellent breakdown Weaz 👌👏👏👏👏
Been waiting for this
Great work, Weasle!
Was waiting for this one 👀
For yan's next fight with aljo, you need to upload "what really happened to aljo" cause yan is gonna send him to another dimension
Can’t wait for him to down that clown
What if aljo wins that fight what would you say then

After watching Yan's performance in this fight Aljo is looking for more injuries .
Aljo literally posted a picture of him getting cut open in training lol
@@TheWeasleMMA lol he got kneed to the face again 😂.
@@madboi2712 does that mean he needs another neck surgery?

Petr Yan is so fucking good, Corey is a top 15 p4p striker and the look on his face at the end said it all. It’s like he realised that there’s levels to this and Yan is several above him. In terms of IQ and reads it was chess versus checkers.
I've been waiting for this breakdown
I had been waiting for this breakdown after the fight.
The breakdown we all been waiting for!
Incredible video @TheWeasle Petr Yan vs Cory Sandhagen was such a high paced, technical, Fight of the year candidate for 2021!
Finally!! Thanks the weasle
Great breakdown, highly entertaining and technical. Young strikers need to take notes as these two put on an incredible display.
I knew what that fight was just reading "the most skilled fight"
This is a really hard fight to breakdown for real man, nice work!
Outstanding breakdown! I've known for awhile that Corey's fight IQ was off the charts but Petr's surprised me a bit. Great fight by both.
Best breakdown ever yan really deserve appreciation for his talent and technique which no other MMA fighters or channel is giving him🙏
You have the best MMA break downs. Keep it up. ESPN needs to scout you.
Thank you brother
@@TheWeasleMMANo problem
The amount of time it took for this video to come out explains how technical and awesome this fight was
Hellyeahhhh I was waiting
I was thinking of starting my own breakdown channel a while ago, but damn man you have a great eye. You always have a few things I just don't see. *tips hat*
Yan has been my favorite fighter since the Faber fight and this video is a perfect example of why. His whole game is so perfect and crisp with very minimal flaws and the way he slowly analyzes and picks his opponent apart over 5 rounds is amazing, it’s truly a treat to watch.
This was so detailed it took 2 months to complete lol. Great stuff as always 👍🏻
I love how u break it down every important fight that matters not just the big fights but the ones that really matter the ones that matter on the prelims or non main event the ones that are gonna have the next contenders or future champs most of the time u are usally right
Legendary Breakdown!!!
Aye weasle my bad bro I didn’t realize I wasn’t subbed, content so great I THOUGHT I was already on da boat 🚤 but now I am gangsta
one of the best fights and certainly the best breakdown of the year
Badass breakdown. You see Mike Heck referenced your Covington v usman 2 breakdown during his interview with Colby ? Sounds like you got a fan in Mike heck. Nice work
Thanks man and I saw that! I'm beyond grateful for that shoutout.
I love ur channel cuz u know what ur talking about it it’s a channel for people that are not casuals cuz I watch every ufc card just like u do
I felt strange when I didn't see the upload the first time around. Glad to see Weasle didn't sleep on this.
I gotta rewatch this fight again, so technical man
Props on making this one, to much action for most to break down.
Knew this fight would be a technical masterpiece as soon as it was booked
Man I hope a fighter hires you to help break their game down for a fight, good stuff
I like that your breakdowns aren't just about what happened but why it happened. You can really begin to see the way things work and then apply that to watching fights live.
To think how young Yan is. 27?? I think. How much he has ahead of him, nowhere near his peak yet, already a 2 time champ. He's gonna have some exciting fights in the coming years, decades even...
Hope your well pal, keep up the great work. Love it 👊😁💚
Still in REM sleep but I’m bout to watch this. 🔥
I was waiting for so long to this analisis men!! I was almost think that you wouldn't not doing it! Thanks Weasle! You are a big inspiration to me and I try to be better than you every day but don't worry I am most focus on the psychology of the fighters, like namajunas, diaz, moreno and mcgregor
Beautiful fights like this happen when two fighters love their craft and put emphasis on the ARTS part of Mixed Martial Arts.
Love these technical fights, their rematch will be interesting to watch if they do
That is a skilled analysis of a skilled fight!
This fight and the Ortega vs Volkanovski fight were 🔥🧨🎇
Best MMA content on the internet. Period.
Ultimate breakdown, ty👽🤖👾👾👾🎱
Could you do a breakdown on how a fight between Kamaru usman vs Khamzat chimaev would go.
Chimaev is surely the biggest nightmare matchup for Usman
Petr Yan might be my favourite fighter to watch which is crazy considering he isn't flashy and he's very minimal. Everything he does has purpose and I'm on the edge of my seat everytime he's in the octagon
MY BOY YAN👊🏾 his technique is always beautiful to watch and he trows with venom
thanks W , these 2 are chess players for real , I can guarantee you all , every mma analyst , watches every Weasle drop , low key . and they wont admit it ever ever , your the best Weasle , thats why im subscribed ......
