    I think they should add new mobs to the starters areas like the dunes BUT…. you can only engage them if mastered. Maybe an updated set of names mobs like Master Goblin Butcher or Master Quadav/Orc/Yagudo

    This got me very excited about FFXI again!
    The problem is I started a fresh character because I wanted to play the story in order, and I have a long long way to go until I can reach these. I also sort of thought you could raise your subjob to 99, which would be extremely exciting!
    If only they would update the graphics, controls, and add actions so you dont have to create a macro for every action.

    I went back to FFXI sometime ago and while i was playing on my own it was okay but boring without friends. When i decided to do endgame content and join a LS for it whatever remained of the rose colored glasses came off community was toxic and unhelpful and required insane gear requirements in order to get accepted plus you'll never play a job you like unless you like playing afk support jobs. This game might not be dead but it's on life support

      I agree I been playing solo for months and I cant get anyone to even talk. Debating on just giving up on this game entirely. Its to the point where you cant even play healers or support jobs cause everyone is multboxing those jobs, so those jobs arent needed anymore. Games pathetic that you have to have six accounts to get any where in this game cause no one wants to play with others. I said it before and I will say it again FFXI is a game about people playing with themselves.

    • @AtomicArtumas
      @AtomicArtumas Před 2 lety +1

      I've never met a single non-pug/merc group that required insane gear that wasn't hard required. And no, stuff like "relic weapon or equivalent" (NOT Mythic/empyrean) isn't "insane gear" - A relic is 26M atm on asura and you can farm it in a week with minimal effort if you don't want to spend gil, though farming the gil is easier than farming the currency.
      You can get full +2 ambu gear over the course of 2 days, which combined with job mastery (2100 JP) easily puts you at acc cap for anything but the most endgame of content.
      You can farm up a naegling entirely solo minus the pulse weapon, which you can either build pup to easily solo, or build an apoc drk to easily solo, or build a sch to easily solo, or build nin or rdm to semi-easily solo, or find a group willing to farm a pulse weapon for you, or grind the abysmal drop rate from voidwatch or other old content during their adventurer campaigns.
      A naegling ~anything that can use it~ is hitting for 20-50k per ws pretty easily, which allows you to very very easily solo all but the most endgame of content for significant gear upgrades, and both rdm and nin can use naegling, both of which are amazing solo jobs, really allowing you to gear yourself up to moderate levels.
      Complaining about any job other than brd or a main tank having "insane gear requirements" either means you put zero effort into your job, expecting to get into a odyssey T20 boss run with base ambuscade gear not even upgraded, which is the equivalent of back in the day expecting to get into a Sky LS as SAM without having a hauby and hagun, or you found what are called "idiots" that ask for REMA jobs for content that doesn't even remotely require it, such as exp parties.
      Some people will always be toxic and idiotic. But that doesn't even REMOTELY speak for the entire community.
      Cor is not an afk support job unless you're playing it badly.
      WHM is not an afk support job unless you're playing it badly.
      Geo is not an afk support job unless you're playing it badly.
      BRD is only an afk support job if you're doing out-of-party brd strats or playing it badly. I don't remotely recommend starting with brd though because it's the only job that hard requires multiple ultimate weapons due to being completely and utterly outclassed by a geo or cor otherwise.
      If you EVER considered COR an afk support job, that honestly says all I need to know to say that "you put zero effort into your job and then expected to get carried through complete endgame content where your 1k acc ass isn't hitting a single thing because you need a minimum of 1400" is probably true. Even back at 75 it wasn't an afk support job. You were either pulling, or dpsing.

  • @kyleannen731
    @kyleannen731 Před 2 lety

    I get what you mean about a Smn's SJ not directly enhancing your Avatar, but tbf it's a job where SJ really determines what kind of Smn you'll be playing, similar to how Brd's SJ often plays a large role in what kind of Brd you'll be playing. Like you can play Smn pretty passively, where your SJ won't rly matter (similar to Brd). Or you can focus more into melee or healing/support, where your SJ will play a huge role. Granted, expanding the versatility of your job usually requires investing into diverse gear and requires greater player skill to back it up, but it can lead to some of the most fun you'll have in FFXI. I know there were some Smns out there for instance that were replacing dedicated healers entirely in some content (obviously not everything) before MLs even existed, so now gaining stuff like Curaga III/Divine Veil with /whm or lowered Strat recasts/Stona with /sch just allows you to push yourself further.
    Anyways, since we're gaining more combat skill from MLs, I would love if they eventually introduced new WSs (maybe FINALLY unlocked Campaign WSs for players to use). It's certainly exciting about the potential of MLs and where FFXI could be going, but knowing SE, there will likely be disappointment unfortunately along the way.

      If I had to bet... I would believe that they intend to do this. It may be the very reason that they pulled the phone game entirely as well as kept this community alive for so long with little additions. Why sink funding and developer resources on a project this old? The community is solid still. This only means a sharp rise in revenue on a release of such a project, the hype alone would pull a ton of nostalgic players as well as some new. The biggest trouble I see for them is balancing it with FFXIV and determining _when_ to release such a thing. Given that they have remastered almost every single FF of old now... multiple times... it only seems like natural course for this to happen. Hope is alive.

    Also, I'm kind of hoping they introduce new content that may also reward large amounts of exemplar points (maybe eventually for Emp+2/3?). For instance, grinding apex mobs can be pretty dull, but at least in content like Odyssey segment farming, you can still get some pretty solid exemplar points (especially in C) while still achieving progress within Odyssey.

  • @forevergogo

    If they take sub jobs up to 99, they need to balance sub jobs that are 'nerfed' like corsair and bard so they can apply 2 buffs. Maybe start at level 50 on.
    And I think there was a limit on the total enhancements (songs+rolls) coming from 1 source, but idk. I think it would be cool to see BRD/COR dropping 2 songs + 2 phantom rolls, be the super buffer.
    Things I'm looking forward to-
    /THF for triple attack and treasure hunter
    /DRG for Super Jump - drop all the enmity. WHM/DRG for DS CuragaIV follow with benediction, and instead of being destroyed instantly, Super Jump! Plus all the WS dmg boost traits, might make WAR, DRK, SAM or even RNG think about subbing DRG.
    /MNK look, the counterstance ship is ready to sail any day now, either WAR or PLD could pull off /MNK, and Perfect Counter is only lvl 79.. So long as you got a dedicated bard to Minne up your lost defense, its no biggie, right?
    /RDM fast cast 3, nuff said.

    smn/blm, etc. 99/99 could realistically completely change how the job is played if they actually did a 99/99 subjob cap correctly, adding FULL power of the secondary job, just with the gear selection of the primary job.
    I'm talking merits applying at 75, job points applying at 99.
    It's unlikely to happen, but it would honestly be a dream come true. Basically allow you to play 2 jobs at the same time, to their full power, with only a few small things here and there determining which one you want as your main.
    Personally, I think they SHOULD go that route, and then add a new Maat quest where you can basically unlock a new job that's just the ultimate job, period. reach master level 500 on all 22 jobs, and you can play every job at the same time, at full power, with all abilities and access to all gear.
    XI's 20ish years old.
    Seeing something like that in 5-10 years, after gradual increases to master level caps, really wouldn't be THAT extreme or outlandish.
    You could even make it significantly harder - Require all relics, all mythics, all empyreans, all aeonics, all AF/Relic/Empyrean armor maxed out, all jobs to master level, completion of all main story missions, and then a million exp per level up on the new "ultimate" job.
    Like I said... I don't see it happening, but honestly? It would be really neat.

  • @kuuryotwo5153
    @kuuryotwo5153 Před 2 lety

    I agree it's an exciting time for people who love Final Fantasy - if they've done the content from all of the expansions. They kinda lost me when they pulled the FFXIV model over to XI for this and required completion of certain expansions before you could dig into this stuff. Like I get that you'd have to be level 99 before you could even get into it, but if you look back at any point between Rise of the Zilart and Wings of the Goddess there was never a requirement that you complete any prior expansion, you could just dabble where you pleased provided you could find a way to get to the appropriate level. You want to do the content in order? Have fun. Want to start with Wotg, then bounce to RoZ? Go nuts. The ball was always in the player's court.
    I may be making more of this than there really is, but as someone that would be a returning player that hasn't played retail since the level 75 era, once I read that completing the newest expansion was a requirement what it translated to in my head was 'This isn't for you.' Just getting up to speed with the changes between then & now would be pretty daunting, stacking missions on top of that turned me right off. And it's a shame because for a moment there I really was considering trying FFXI out again.

    • @AtomicArtumas
      @AtomicArtumas Před 2 lety

      It takes literally less than a week to finish 1 city storyline to rank 10, RoZ, CoP, ToAU, WotG and SoA to the points needed for RoV, if not IN THEIR ENTIRETY.
      If you're turned off by literally 1 week of legitimately good storylines, (FFXI has some of the best stories in the series IMHO), you're definitely looking at the wrong game.
      Making a single weapon will likely take longer than finishing all storylines combined. And yeah, I'm being serious about this, because I literally went and did it when RoV came out. It took me less than a week to finish every single mission line in the entire game entirely solo.

  • @isaacxi3514
    @isaacxi3514 Před 2 lety +1

    What they need to do is increase the exp yield & the grind & the stronger enemies and nerfing those low level apex camps to move players out of them for better exp yield. So they need to make sure each camp only has 2-3 enemies and are spread out so players aren't running between camps between respawns.
    They basically gonna need to nerf exemplar points in SoA zones where players are doing the job point farming. Looking at the enemies in promy for the exemplar they yield they probably should make apex bats/frogs only give out 20~45 exemplar points.
    I think summoner needs some passive AoE boosts to party members. Something like what trusts have. Garuda=AoE Acc up, Ifrit=AoE Attack up, Carbuncle=Refresh+1

    I'm interested to see what dragoons can get up to with this update. What sub do you think they will benefit most from with more levels? Still sam?

    • @AtomicArtumas
      @AtomicArtumas Před 2 lety

      /sam will pretty much always benefit 2-handers the most unless enmity is a concern, in which case you /drg. Seeing as drg doesn't need to /drg, it's pretty much just /sam all the way unless doing really niche strategies and team lineups.
      Hasso + STP are just too strong, even with meditate and sekkanoki being kinda unnecessary these days.
      Most other jobs have too long of CDs - /thf would be nifty for sata single hits, but if you're not on a thf main, those CDs are horrendous.
      /war provides a bunch of stats that most people already have at such high values they're either capped or hit by so many diminishing returns it's just not worth it.
      The ones that have the most likeliness of becoming significantly more relevant are /blu, /cor/geo/brd, and then a massive complete overhaul if they make it so sub jobs benefit from merits at subjob level 75.
      /drg's obviously already become completely meta for enmity management, and /sam, /drk, /dnc and /war all already had their uses outlined previously.
      Mage-wise, /sch is easily taking over now, until much higher levels where we start getting more useful unique spells and abilities from the others. /whm for healing still, and /rdm for spam casting, as usual. Again, similarly to melee, /blu and /geo/cor/brd are becoming more and more useful, though it'll likely be a while before any of them become a standard.
      /sch probably benefits the overall most from any sub that isn't called drg. And is arguably even comparable to drg, just in a significantly different way. The post-50 levels were where sch got all of it's amazing utility it was previously missing as a sub, so it's REALLY getting better every threshold level.
      Then there's also a couple job specific subs, like pup/mnk, that may or may not end up being stupidly good.

      Five minutes in Escha-Zi'Tah for each sub will get them to 53. Make it 20 minutes each to get to 60 and be good for a year or two.

    This update was way too late just like the 75 lvl cap to lvl 99 cap. Square-Enex did not plan end game. Merit points, job points templar points. It's too chaotic and that why end game sucks.

      Master leveling is no different than any other leveling experience, it is what you make it. It can be a ton of fun or as you put it "a mindless boring grind".

      I just checked private server populations and it seems Eden is still strongest (around 500 online generally). Doesn't get close to the top retail servers (15k on asura, 8k on Bahamut etc).
