  • You asked and we delivered! One of the places we use as a backdrop for our videos has quite a few bows in the background, we have shown one or two in the past, but, people kept asking what they all are, so, here you go!

    I love these shop tours. Nothing like wandering around in someone else's flotsam and jetsam . So much interesting accumulation.

    Always enjoy your videos about old, well loved, and unique ELBs. Thanks for your descriptions of the “stack” of bows that always seem to be a common background. Cheers

    A very inspiring collection.
    I think the consensus these days on longbows is that they are crude bulky simple bows. (Specially compared to asiatic or more specifically, ottoman bows)
    I think because in media they are only depicted as war bows which tend to be a lot thicker, wider and crude.
    These Victorian/Edwardian sport bows has such pretty craftsmanship and dimensions.
    They look slightly fragile but that's also what makes them so elegant and fine looking in my opinion.
    I would love to own one one day when I have the spare money to justify the purchase.
    (Or if I'd start shooting a whole lot more again)

    Great to see your collection! You mentioned 'Pearl', I have two old target arrows marked 'Pearl, Leamington'. Is there anywhere I can find out more information on the company?

    I have been watching your videos since I first picked up a longbow. Your bows are works of art. I was wondering if you ship to the US. I would love to have one when it's time for a new bow.

    Lovely collection of bows!
    Was wondering, do you ever get orders for the "full compass" medieval style bows?
    Would be awesome to see you work on one. :D

    Have you ever considered casting your nocks in pewter? Make them of an intricate and signature esign?

    Quick Question how do you know which is the top limb of a traditional longbow?
    Which way do you fire it?
    Does it make a diffrence?

    • @longbows
      @longbows  Před 2 lety +1

      An English Longbow, which is all we deal with here, has a longer top limb, measure the bow from nock slot to nock slot, find the middle, the part of the handle nearest the centre, should be an inch away, is the top limb, it may also have a fancy top nock. You don't fire a bow, you shoot a bow. Yes, it makes a difference.

    How long does a bow last without setting

    • @longbows
      @longbows  Před 2 lety

      I assume you mean `taking a set`. Some staves do this during tillering, some bows take a set after initial first use, some never take a set. Variations of manufacturing process, materials used and of course how the archer uses/looks after their bow all make a difference to set.
