So nice to see such a good wrestler use other tools so effectively.
Yeah I am shocked, he literally showed perfect MMA skills, true MMA skills, in all areas. It's rare to see someone showcase striking, grappling and wrestling all at once in 53 seconds, on that level. The well roundedness is probably his best attribute right now.

I wanted alex or rob to become champ other adesanya but this guy from this fight alone looks promising. Rob may be a tough fight for him hes one of the best anti wrestlers in the ufc but if anyone can get rob down its this guy and he can honestly beat adesanya no problem
Transitioning from wrestling to essentially no gi grappling is not that difficult of a transition. You just have to tweak the strategy a little and learn a few more move and counters.
I went to school with Bo and maybe I am slightly biased by our friendship, but in my opinion he is absolutely a top tier athlete who also has tremendous intelligence and a crazy ability to learn new skills in what seems like no time at all. That being said and considering his level of wrestling aptitude, I honestly believe that he is going to have an enormous impact on the UFC in the next few years. Let’s go Bo!

Not taking anything from him, but Don’t get it twisted this dude trains at arguably the best MMA gym in the world, has been wrestling at THEE highest level his entire life, and can easily dismantle any middleweight they’d put in front of him on DWCS. He is arguably the best wrestler in middleweight already and there’s zero chance anyone on contender series was going to be able to stop him. It’s going to be super interesting to see how fast he rips through that division and how good he’ll be in in a few years when his striking is at a high level as well. It would also be super interesting to see him against a guy like Andre Muniz considering he’s 0-1-2 in professional grappling matches. Definitely adds some MUCH needed skill into that division and I can’t wait to see him start his climb.

That was on another level 😯
Having watched Bo wrestle for such a long time, it’s honestly surreal to see him do that body lock step over jank that I’ve seen him do so often in a wrestling context lol
My thoughts exactly
That mounted guillotine to triangle was a high level transition, he definitely has huge potential
LFG BO what a great performance.
Everything about that was WOW. The hook, which dropped Beard, and then the transition to the triangle. Great performance from Nickal.
Not a hook
hook? lol
It was a left hand chil out
What's crazy is that he faked a takedown, and his opponent dropped his hands preparing to try to defend a takedown, and he threw the punch on the way in for a takedown, so he was literally doing a takedown with a punch to the chin mixed in at the last second. It was a genius move, and it seems odd that we don't see that exact move from other more seasoned fighters? I think Tito Ortiz did this exact same punch and knocked out Ryan Bader? Dan Henderson with his crazy overhand rights, as he was lunging in wildly? But it doesn't seem like many fighters execute a fake takedown punch that effectively.
Overhand not a hook
This is the 1st time seeing him. Great shot! I saw his wrestling resume … this guy is a freakin’ machine in college
I respect this dude. Hope he doesn't change too much. He's going to be huge.
The future of MMA looks very promising, congrats Bo!

I remember following his college career and learning from his wrestling while I was doing so In high school. Looking forward to see how his step up to mma progresses.
That transition and triangle choke is not a novice BJJ move at all. That was so slick and fluid, he’s more than ready. Gonna be a problem for the unranked guys but middle weight has some heavy hitters so the rise in the weight class is always risky from getting clipped. His cardio won’t be an issue, let’s hope his stand up continues to improve and he’s going to be a problem for a long time.

Not even 1 minute and you can already see how well rounded he is. That finish was awesome.
Beard better get another chance, no one entering the UFC’s gonna have the ability to stop this from happening

The punch into the takedown was such a ridiculously athletic move from Bo, dude covered like 1/4th of the octagon in a single movement. If he wants to fight as a long term career there's no reason for him to jump into the deep end. He should just take some unranked fights and use that time to really sharpen his striking, submission defense, and BJJ transitions and I think he'd be in a much better place to become a title contender.

@@too_sturdy that’s gonna hurt Alex more than it helps. He’s not ready for the high level grapplers Izzy had to go through.
@@flamingballsofsteel
Yes i agree. After watching Izzy take him down and control him shows me Khamzat will do him dirty on the ground. Imo Holland is a better grappler then Alex. Khamzat by sub in 2 rounds tops.
The size difference is the only thing but him being taller mean Khamzat has better center of gravity.
Im 6'4. I know Alex is 6'5 by looking at him. He had an inch on Izzy. Khamzat is 6'3 i think. But Alex is still much heavier if khamzat can make 170. Must have a natural 20lbs. But Alex lack of getting back to his feet is gonna make it so easy for a strong grappler. Izzy has great TDD and can get back up more importantly.
Edit- Seems like Glover can lead a horse to water but cant make him drink.
I know he's teaching Alex BJJ and wrestling but he doesn't seem to be picking it up well in other words. And Glover showed he can strike well with Jiri and Alex is helping him sharpen his striking.
