Good job.. good job having the right tools too.
I serviced gas furnaces many years ago..what I wouldn’t have given for a headlamp.

The hose spring clamps that come with Carrier/Bryant/Heil furnaces are the bane of my existence.

Smelt a little electrical burning smell this morning and realize the heat wasn't coming on. Killed the switched, popped off the cover felt that inducer motor and it was very warm to the touch. Pretty sure that is the culprit of my model# 58MCA080 built the 30th week of 1996! Trying to source one locally right now and also need to replace the trap accordion style hoses as they have some dry rot and cracking. Thanks for the video it looks pretty straightforward just hoping the main board is still good.

Typical Carrier/Bryant problems on that model, I installed them years, good furnaces but they do have drawbacks. I did however like the 59sc5 models or even the TP but never cared for any of the infinity models.

I hate those spring clamps so much,I actually bought the pliers specifically made for install and removal of them! Best $16 I ever spent!

the first time, it's not easy especially when the return air drop blocks pushing the pipe completely out of the way and it can't be put on the new inducer when it's bolted in place unless the pipe gets cut.
almost everything's easy when you're good and experienced.

Is there a need to put high temperature silicone caulk on the triangular mating parts to ensure there is no leakage of dangerous carbon monoxide into the house? Other videos say the caulk is needed. What is your view?

It was always a son of a bitch to miss that the vacuum hose is off behind inducer.

At 13:00, you turned power back ON. Immediately, the blower fan, not the inducer fan started. Exactly 2 min later, at 15:00, the blower stopped and the inducer fan started. This sequence of operation, is not what I'm used to seeing. Why did it sequence this way? Obviously, the tstat was calling for heat. But, the blower pushing COLD AIR, all around the house, for TWO MINUTES, before gas firing sequence start? Something is amiss.......

@@Jon-hx7pe not sure exactly. I have plenty of original 1994 units around my area (first year of these furnaces I believe) that are still kicking. Original heat exchangers, but they are all single stage of course. The heat exchangers I've changed most are always on the 2 or 3 stages. Once in a while I change a single stage heat exchanger

@@AmericanFarmerHVAC2024 it could just be that most of the newer units are 2 or 3 stage and the quality has slipped.
