I’m struggling to know if I’m a 1 or 3. They seem quite similar to me.
Take a look at the Self-Preservation Three. They can seem Oneish as they are motivated to be good, but through the lens off the Three's, they want to be seen for being good and strive for excellence. SP3 is driven by Three's self-deceit instead of the One's anger and trying to be perfect in some way to avoid blame

Difference between 2 and 3? Could be a 3 using the helping persona to be more popular.
Both types shapeshifts or adapt themselves based on what they sense in another person. For a Two, the focuses is on being likeable and strategically giving to get. So they become what the other person likes. For Three's they focus on what others value, and shift to perform what value looks like. We often associate that with the prestige that Social Threes chase. But Self-preservation Threes focuses on doing excellent work as a way of performing and Sexual threes often (but not always) focus on helping others be successful. Getting into the subtypes can really help clarify which sort of strategy or variation each type is using to survive / get their needs met.
What is the overlap and difference with 7 and 3 ?
Hi Jenna, while 7 and 3 and look similar at times, they are motivated by very different core drives. Three's are motivated to be seen as successful (although the definition of success varies), and take on a persona of "success" and become disconnected to who they really are. Sevens are motivated to avoid pain and suffering, and so aim to be optimistic, positive and work hard to have a little bit of everything, so they can avoid getting stuck in painful feelings. But they can both look like very busy, helpful and positive people. Does that help?
