Yea, but that sucks. If you are not a kid , asking strangers advice. Comedy advice. With the body of work that is J&A on collegehumor. 10 years ifiwereyou how many quotables? How many things that put smile instantly. It was pretty much solving their own problems aloud and loud. Asking Amir for love life advice 10 years ago. Cmon.
if Amir keeps writing poems weekly he will become an incredible poet at some point
Segment idea: Bond of the week, ever week you cast up your pick for James (bond) until broccoli finally casts the bish
Can't wait for y'all to relisten to "If I Were You" as a segment of this show in 3 years. We are so back!

Segment Ideas that are either bad or stolen:
- 20 questions
- Would you rathers
- Carrot in a box (watch the ‘8 out of 10 cats does countdown’ clip of the game. Absurdly simple, yet fun.)
- Two truths and a lie
- Weird News (find a recent news article that’s kinda goofy and riff on it)
- Dad tips
- Tips for marriage
- Movie Review (both of you watch a movie and review it together giving a thumbs up or down rating)
- Odd one out (like the poem segment; get three of anything and guess which one the other made up. Could be movie premise, song title, book etc)
- Hot Takes
- Review other people’s list of ‘Icks’ and ‘Red Flags’
- Unsolicited advice
- Brainstorm an idea for a purposefully bad movie
- Prank call
- Read comments
- Jake vs Amir : trivia questions
- Jake vs Amir : Sound Effects (like the ‘trashy’ segment but you play sound effects/ recordings from your phone to make the other person laugh)
- Segment review
- Guess the segment: One person knows the segment and it’s specific rules, the other person is figuring it out.
- Surprise segment: a segment the other person didn’t know about. Usually a ‘gotcha’ segment made to embarrass.
- Say the same thing (a game where you each say a word at the same time. At first, you’ll both say a random word, they’ll be different. But the next round of saying the same word, your goal is to say a word that’s ‘in between’ the two previous words. If you say the same word or phrase, you win. There’s a video of it. Just look up “say the same thing” on CZcams).
- Super Bowl bet
- What are you both thankful for (thanksgiving episode)
- Spooky/unexplainable story from your life (Halloween episode)
- Things you’ll never do (There’s so many things we want to do and add it to our endless ‘to do’ list. But we only have so little time on this earth. What things from that list are you removing? Eg, I was planning on watching game of thrones, but I am now definitely saying without a shadow of a doubt, I’m NEVER going to watch it, or read it. I just don’t really care for it and I could spend that time doing anything else that truly matters to me)
- top 3 (of anything. Eg, movies, dog breeds, mountains)
- Liar liar (One person will get a card that is a single sentence summary for a true story about them, OR a single sentence summary of a fake story about them. The fake story will be written by a third party. This is so the person with the card has to come up with fake details about the story as questions come up. The person without the card is trying to guess whether the story they’re telling is true or false and is able to ask follow up questions. The person with the card is trying to tell the story in such a way that the other person guesses incorrectly. See the British show, ‘would I lie to you’ for reference)
- Show and tell (at the start of the show, bring in a random goofy item from home or elsewhere and reveal it to the other person. Explain where it’s from and what it is. Riff on it. See the mascot segments in ‘8 out of 10 cats does countdown’ for reference)
- Read odd Wikihow articles (there are plenty)
- Guest segment (if you have guests. Ask them to prepare their own segment)
- Eye contact (make consistent and deliberate eye contact for a minute straight)

A podcast of you guys just shooting the breeze is what we needed! Especially since that was the route IIWY was going in I swear it became less and less questions each episode but I’m here for thisss!!
Yeah I think they knew IIWY had that complaint a lot, but it wasn't ever because we hated the chit chat, just that the show had a specific format it felt it neglected sometimes. Super excited for this podcast and think it will be great. Just hope they actually keep a good amount of new segments coming, not just finding a few we like and getting stuck in them. But great start and I am so glad J&A are filling my (content) hole once again

Love you boys so much. Been listening and watching your content for so long, it honestly feels like getting in touch with old friends again. I missed your comedic timings, Jake's impeccable ability to win Golden Mics, and honestly I just think it's so cool that a freaking CHIPMUNK has a podcast.
+1 for amir's poetry every week. i love poetry but i will laugh every single time if he reads them aloud and i imagine he wrote it
The J&A script writing was really interesting.
We need the Amir poetry one again obviously.
Some other ideas:
- Try not to laugh, but with 1 liner jokes instead. Can be read from your phone.
- Head to head quiz with questions from Cakesy.
- 2 Truths & a lie.
- Each shows their all time favourite YT video (react for 5min or less).
- Both try to draw a celebrity & then guess each others.
- Give the other person a topic of your chosing, then the following week they have to explain what they've learnt about it.

What about a segment where you each write a standup-style tight 5 and see which one is better. A “standup standoff” if you will. Probably has some potential as a reoccurring segment too
There should be a segment where you do some kind of prisoners dilemma, and the stakes should be HIGH

I'd love a Segment where you guys could like... Maybe receive emails somehow from people who need advice and you could put yourself in their shoes to tell them what you'd do in their situation.
It could be called... "If I Were You" or something.

I was about 5-6 years late to If I Were You, give or take a couple years, so this was also a very exciting morning for me as well!

Segment idea: Bond of the week. Basically Daniel Craig is out, and every week until they chose a new Bond we’ll be throwing out our picks for the new 007. Or you pick your favorite chemical bond or some shit I don’t know this isn’t MY job.
I like the idea of a segment, maybe that you do weekly, where you lob up your picks for the next James Bond until the next James has been Bonded.

Segment idea: read reviews of a famous landmark and the other person has to guess what it is. Fewest guesses wins.
For the next poetry segment, Amir should choose some absurdist poems to go with his and we'll never guess correctly! The man's been writing absolute nonsense that flows and rhymes for over a decade 😂
A segment idea is maybe some kind of award to the best podcast host of the episode? maybe a golden microphone or something, and maybe amir gets the turdy?

Here’s a segment idea: buying a melon and seeing whether it’s fresh or not
Segment idea:
- Headgum showcase: where you borrow the concept of another podcast on the Headgum network for a segment like pitching an invention (twInnovation), or a small fantasy draft (AFE) or a tiny dnd campaign (Naddpod) etc. Promotes other podcasts and creates content.
Good to have you back, love the new podcast. Segmania should somehow be a wrestling segment like guess if this a real or fake wrestling name.

LOVED THIS EPISODE. Like everyone says, the poetry portion is golden. The concept of like, one of you doing something theyre bad at and the other tries to sus it out is great.
I also really liked the live writing of the Jake and Amir skit, it was so cool to see the process / random jokes that came of it.
Suggestion for segment: maybe a small video game segment? Like theres that diffuse the bomb game you guys could play together, or maybe even like a quick round of cards against humanity?

I used to watch Jake and Amir religiously a decade ago, but I only started catching up on their podcast (and NADDPOD) recently. It was a bit of a shame to realize it had just ended... so it was awesome to open youtube and realize I get to be here for the opening of a new show! It feels just as good and comfortable as If I Were You so far, I'm looking forward to all the new content 😁

I was trying to see wtf it was, then I realized my fav two homies had a new podcast. So stoked. Glad Jake didn't talk too much about the baby. Some new parents can only talk about that and nothing else
