- A friend of missing British teenager Jay Slater has paid tribute to “the happiest and most smiley person in the room” after a body was found during the search for him in Tenerife.
Charity LBT Global said remains were found with the 19-year-old’s clothes and possessions near his last known location on Monday.
Members of a mountain rescue team from the Spanish Civil Guard discovered the body near the village of Masca.
Former Met Police detective Peter Bleksley joins Talk’s Alex Phillips to discuss this further.

I mentioned that this had similarities with the Nichola Bulley case & was laughed out off the room.
The area was searched throughly for weeks, personal items were found, experts were bought in & then weeks later the body is found in the exact area that was extensively searched.
Also if Jay is found without this 10 grand watch that "HE" & the private investigator both say was stolen & that according again to the private investigator, that jay left the Air bnb in a hurry & fearful for his safety then that will be a massive red flag.

It was MWT and the police who said he could have been kidnapped, been on a yacht, police said he could have got lost. Searched the area where his phone last pinged, used dogs, drones, etc but couldn’t find him.
Then 3 weeks later they find him yards away. Something not right about this case.
How could dogs miss the scent?
It's not normal to be at a rave with some peers then disappear to an air b n b, 20 plus miles away with some older men, when your own place is a few minutes from the rave, then suddenly taking off in the morning and instead of walking down the only road or waiting for a bus, or finding a shop, you decide to walk into treacherous terrain. The only reason to do that is if you were scared for your life.

He was taken to the other side of the island by two much older men he had just met after a night of drinking and partying. He hastily left their Airbnb at the first opportunity without water, without charging his phone, and with no plan how to get back. The two men who took advantage of a 19 year old boy are responsible for this, and whatever happened at the Airbnb.

He was walking along the road to begin with, saw the ocean from the road and thought he could take a shortcut down to the sea and got into difficulty on the treacherous path and fell into a ravine. He told his friend he cut his leg on a cactus, was dehydrated, had 1% battery on his phone, had drug and alcohol in his system, was raving all night as well so he would have been really tired s d lacking in proper judgement. Another friend said he could hear him walking on gravel a d said he was lost.

If Jay had fallen into such an area it'd also answer why no carrion birds were seen circling the area.

The police obviously got it spot on. They didn’t want people that couldn’t search mountains going there as they themselves could have been injured. It’s mountains, not a park. As a result, actual experts were allowed to work relatively unhindered by wannabe sleuths and amateurs - and it got results. Anyone that thinks there was a conspiracy, poor police etc needs to ask themselves what else should they have done differently? Kept the drug dealers for more questioning? Seems they interviewed them enough and were happy with their answers; and look - turns out it was the most obvious answer to the mystery. Well, unless you believe he was killed…

I think this might be part of the British culture of gossiping and spreading rumours. In Spain, though we like gossip too, I've never seen people talking so much sh*t based on nothing like it's happened with Jay's missing case. The only time they made a TV circus out of a case it had already been confirmed it was a crime, and they were theorising of some kind of secret ring and politicians involved, but in that case there was proof from the beginning that the three teenage girls had been kidnapped and murd3red (they found the severed foot of one of them). This level of making up all kinds of accusations and weird theories based on absolutely nothing is totally new to me.

I disagree with this ex cop as all the online speculation about drug dealers proved to be 100% correct with that guy who had served time for dealing in the past . So although his body has now been recovered it doesn’t answer the numerous questions about the circumstances.
I like Bleksley but he has misjudged the situation. You could argue that it was due to total lack of information from the Spanish police prompted all those armchair detectives to try and come up with some plausible explanations
If it wasn’t for social media causing such huge storm tenerife would have left jay like they’ve left the other missing people. Reason is because tourism and money are worth more than missing tourists and a bad reputation. So Peter should respect the fact that social media was the ones who pressured this search by making it a viral high profile case!

With his history, you'd think he'd know that at a maximum of 9 days in a hot climate a body would be reduced to bones, so why wasn't it?...the obvious conclusion is that Jay wasn't dead for as long as they say. Also, fingerprints are only obtainable for about 4 days after death in the heat, so how did they identify him this way? The colourful blanket was from Lucy's apartment, so how did it mysteriously get to the B+B for a photo shoot and then equally whisk itself back to the apartment? There were 2 pairs of feet in the photo (one was obviously a woman) so maybe it was photoshopped. Why was the B+B booked for such a short time? Why did Lucy say that she and Brad went back to the apartment together, then Brad later said he asked Jay to go with him because he didn't want to go alone? Ayub said Jay sat in the back seat so why is the photo of the watch taken off someone in the driver's seat? Why do people keep referring to the stolen watch as a Rolex, when it was an AP? (A Rolex could also refer to a type of drug.) Why has there been no investigation into the screaming on the beach? In Lucy's interview she said Brad couldn't sleep, because of nightmares of Jay looking like that...like what? There are so many more unanswered questions. We've taken Jay to our hearts and would like to get some answers, as would his family, so don't start implying we're a bunch of conspiracy nuts, trying to sensationalise Jay's death...it's insulting!
