Holding one's breath that distance or time under water is not the challenge it's the immense pressure on your body organs at that depth.
Speaking to the fear, as a scuba diver some dives are called wall dives. These are varied and many, but one of the greatest senses of fear and awe occurred as i passed over the line where the ocean floor just falls straight away into the depths and darkest abyss ive ever seen. Even though youre maintaining buoyancy with your gear, you get this strange sensation like your going to fall into it. I only passed the line a few feet and quickly uturned back over the visible sea floor. The sheer immensity of that dark unknown, and you know thats where the big boys of the ocean swim. And who knows what else

That's for sure. For example, for me, due to a previous history of otitis, diving to a depth of 3 meters already causes acute pain in the ears.

I never seen him perforate his ears with his hand, you just pinch the nose and blow till ears pop and you can go deeper, you have to keep doing this every 4 or 5 ft when deep diving. But have to do this before its to much pressure on the eardrum or .....

Depends on the measurement unit used on that, but deep pools like these are used frequently for scubadiving training purposes
These are called pits (at least in france, translated)
If this pool uses the metric system, then that pool seems to go to a max depth of 20 meters, which is a pretty standard depths for those
The deepest i’ve heard of is a whopping 40 meters
The pressure at that depth must be enormous.

Free divers use certain techniques and exercises which allows them be able to hold their breath for longer and equalize the pressure as they go deeper. One guy was able to dive 700 feet on one breath of air a few years back.

It's not the hardest, rule 1# is to never ever panic. In a calm body of water you can spread your body out and easily float on your back keeping your head out of the water. In a rough current perhaps in the ocean during a storm it will be very difficult to stay above the water as waves will frequently swallow you under. But again you absolutely can't fight it and must remain calm and breathe when you have the chance to. If you think with 100% certainty that you are going to drown again you must face it head on and hold your breath until you past out. This will give you the best chance of being rescued because you won't inhale water in a panic. And lastly take classes, learn to swim, learn to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation. And learn how to stop life threatening arterial bleeds. And most importantly never swim or boat without an approved personal floatation device.
