Great show! One of the few shows where you're not too good to measure your fish. Most viewers wanna know how long a fish is, so thanks for keeping it very real!

I'm a newbie to the sport, so thanks for sharing some of those
lost fish. It's good to see it's not just they bite and you reel them in. Sometimes they come unpinned. I always learn something watching you guys. Keep up the good work.

You guys rock!! putting so much time and effort to catch the greatest elucid beast!! I got to consider myself really lucky to have found a goldmine for huge muskies Its an hour away from my home in Montreal and it's a spot where only three people have fished there in decades it's very shallow for miles until you get to the 25 ft drop-off so no boats ever venture there but we caught at least 6 fat muskies all over 40 lbs in one summer! in fact the current and shallow water on the way there got my motor stuck between rocks and we had to step out of the boat to free it! But imagine a school of huge muskies that never seen a lure??? Its muskie heaven!!!

Family has a cabin on this lake and fish it all the time. Very tough lake need to get the conditions all right. I think all of the fishing pressure is what makes it so tough. Love being up there though. Either crazy action or nothing but a few follows here and there for days.

365 islands to fish, 22 hours of grinding, and some heart stopping moments there’s nothing better than Vermillion. It’s absolutely one of the most beautiful places on earth in the fall, the next trip there’s going to be at least 2 50+ inch fish for you. As always guys great episode and I can’t wait for the next one, tight lines.

Great video guys! I've experienced higher hooking percentages at boatside with "larger" muskies by using a wide oval maneuver, not a figure 8. Seems like the bigger 'skis can't turn as quickly to follow some baits in the 8 with tight turns. Best of luck in 2019!

    • @BurninEights
      @BurninEights  Před 5 lety

Thanks for the comment! I would agree on the oval maneuver. I tend to mix things up...some times using a figure 8 and other times using an oval. My biggest Northern WI fish at 49.5 inches came on more of an oval maneuver. Tight turns are a killer in the 8 and you can actually see it happen when I botched the figure 8 in this video on that fish the followed on back to back casts for me. Thanks for watching! Tight lines to you this coming season! - Ross

Always enjoy viewing how others experience our sweet Vermilion for 1st time, musky or other wise.
Ya done good for never being on the lake an just hitting traffic spots everyone fishes.
    Nice lil video.
You all did very very well.
Only thing that looked off I could mention to help make your next trip a MUSKIE FISH ON experience more reward'n is HOOK SET!
Well no dog in boat is sad but you can work on that also.
    : )
If you watch yourselves an note you are REEL HOLDERS, you DO NOT once power load those long rods nor use rod foregrip.
    Reel tuggers….eh......No Good.
You do not get very good hook sets if any at all period.
Other wise ya done great filming, locating followers for a smile an seemed to be having fun.
Stockers last ten years or so 44" to 48" been pretty easy to get on but love LOVE to follow, which is fun in itself but not what you traveled for.
By day those size fish are goofy an know what you are doing so mess with ya's.
Giving ya the FIN an Wink or Power Yap Snap an Split an so forth n well just 4 smiles,
    NO HOOKS Ripped into face.
They are the Home Team every day, you are Visitors trying to beat them at their game on their body of life.....every time out.
You have to bring yer A+++ game every time out at all times even when yer just out for fun n a tussle.
BIG Wide Seekers an Eaters on Vermilion grow wide power tails n heads n backs an very thick large jaw bones.
Unless you beak hook a follower or jaw gap a side swipe fishy you aint gonna net to many if any without a total beast hook Set.
Day fish being what they are these days big or small.....well you done good, except...NO RIP SETS.
You can still be a reel holder just practice a simple " Move reel hand quickly forward, RIP".
Just ditch the reel holding all to gather...
RIP once, then again...hook in "Maybe" ~~~ fight is on.
Try it you will like it...next trip, who knows, maybe never miss a grab an nothing but BIG SMILES! Hope so.....
    Nothing good comes easy!
The large fish you had on for a bit by big fish rock was just playing with you by holding the buck in her yap an giving you a Vermilion east side tease.
Fun stuff. Fun stuff we see weekly...….love it.
Gotta take control an Rip Face.
Plus maybe bulk up a bit, kind of skinny no muscle in arms or legs there....EAT BEEF, EAT PORK, VENISON, POWER VEGGIE PAK~ON'S ~~ Rule!
    : )
An will you succeed, yes, yes you will indeed....97 & 3/4% Guaranteed!!
Have a great next visit, enjoy it all, no do overs in life ~~ only get one shot, no trophy's, This is It.
    GO FOR IT.
    Keep on rocken!

Your very lucky to have buddies that are knowledgeable and love the hunt for the Muskie. My usual fishing buddy has 10 kids and can only do a day or two and other buddy is casual Fisherman. ( I cannot seem to get him to do proper figure 8. When we go I put too much pressure on myself to proper boat control an hitting the spot that I do less throwing. My best trips have been solos

Thanks for the info. I asked because a lot of the resorts there are high end and expensive. Finding decent places to stay cheap can be difficult and the less one spends on lodging the more they can spend on fishing. What did you think of the Marjo Motel?

    • @BurninEights
      @BurninEights  Před 5 lety

I hear ya there! We're always looking to cut costs when traveling which is never an easy thing. haha. The Marjo Motel was a decent place to stay. We had a good experience while there. Its somewhat dated as far as the building, but quite affordable. It allowed us to have a bed and an air conditioned place to crash in between our outings which was a huge plus compared to staying in the heat in a tent. Definitely nothing special, but the location is perfect. They were very accommodating and were nice to deal with. We'd stay there again. Hope this helps!
