WOW. kaushikiji has sung dhrupad, south indian varnam and tillana... dhrupad is very close to south indian style or carnatic style music. dhrupad is actually "dhruvapadha" and they are all songs on god and that is what was sung in the courts of the palace before khayal came into the picture. the khayal gayaki is what we most commonly hear today on the hindustani concert stage. kaushikiji here has expanded her repertoire: she sings khayal, tarana, thumri, dadra, bhajan, abhang etc.. which are common genres of hindustani music that we always get to hear, and now she has also expanded to singing dhrupad and also to singing some south indian genres which she has learnt from vidwan dr. balamuraLikrishna such as varnam and tillana. Fantastic.
