@mrsdawnyc You have to remember that Kestral is loaded, and the canals don't see such well loaded boats very much these days. What doesn't help is the build up of rubbish below the lock which gets around the prop as you try to pull up to the bottom gate.
These new style GU paddles are designed to be dropped, by lifting the ratchet, it breaks the fall. Much better than a novice trying to wind it down, and failing to keep the windlass on as then it really drops them.
Considering that was Cassiobury park, there weren’t any muggles about !!

the first pair seem to be a bit more cluded up, kestral and vienna make a mess of the lock.
not over impressed by such competent people dropping ground paddles but good all the same.
