Celtic Frost? Black Metal started 1984. Destruction, always identified as either Thrash or Black back then. Not exactly sure why you want to discredit me but I was there and know the truth. Possessed created the term and the original style of Death Metal and it is well documented with proof. Kam, I wish you all the luck in the world but for you to say that Death Metal is a European thing is crazy. The reason we chose to call ourselves Death Metal was because nobody else was doing it. The Celtic Frost album you refer to was a year after Possessed and of course Destruction first identified as Black snd Thrash Metal. Possessed/ we were out there by 83 and even though we had material written earlier I first documented Death Metal in 83. And for sure NOBODY was calling their band Death Metal before us. Although, it took off pretty fast as the 2nd band I saw claiming Death Metal was also from the SF Bay Area, Sadus In 84. Death Metal is very much an American invention and I would hate to see the truth and our history twisted. Again, nothing against Kam . It’s just that truth is important to me as well as keeping our history in tact.

Death Metal is definitely not a European thing, it's all American, boys.
Black metal may be European but not Death Metal.
I was around when the whole Florida Death scene was just burgeoning, inspired by bands like Possessed.
I grew up in Altamonte Springs and I actually ran into Kam at Blockbuster Video on 436 a couple of times back in the 80's.
Got an autograph around here somewhere. lol.

And Mannnnn just like how Kam Lee was talking about how he met Rick and was into drawing skulls and skeletons and Rick asked him if he could draw the cover art of Iron Maiden's Killers album......that's exactly how I am except with Ed Repka's artwork his shit Barr none is by far my favorite metal artist I mean Pushead is up there but as soon as I seen Scream Bloody Gore, Leprosy & Spiritual Healing I fell instantly in love with those covers art it's just Soo perfectly badass and right up my alley if I could draw an ounce as good as him that would be my ideal style of drawings evil skeltons demons shit like that!!

POSSESSED STARTED DEATH METAL! I love Celtic Frost and Destruction. But Possessed was first. And Celtic Frost were more akin to Black Metal, and Destruction with Thrash/Speed Metal.
Get your shit together and have a word with yourself.
