I saw Misfits live years back. After the show, Jerry perched himself on the end of the stage and didn't leave until everyone got a picture, an autograph, a hug, or all three. I took my daughter there for her 13th birthday and her first moshpit. When the band started playing, she looked at me all confused, wondering why everyone was running around crashing into one another. I said "think of it as human bumper cars." and she got the idea quickly. Every time either of us took a spill, there was always a helping hand. He signed her patch put her in a headlock lol. All in all a good birthday, better than Chuck E. Cheese I guess
there was a bassist for may four weeks before Jerry came in, he and jerry started what became the misfits. I think what he says is fair
Exactly. Jerry also invented the iconic devilock which is a huge staple of the bands image. Also whoever played on the first album I would classify as part of he original line up.

So much hate in these comments. It's sad. The Misfits are more than just a trendy t-shirt you picked up at Walmart/Hot Topic kids. Listen to the music of their era and then look at what The Misfits were doing, that in itself demands respect.
On that note- It's cool to see Jerry talk about his early influences. It's makes songs like "Driving on a Saturday Night" that much more enjoyable. The Horror punk is what they are known for but their music goes much deeper than that. The Misfits, Joy Division, The Velvet Underground, legends of music history pushing the boundaries of their time. Respect.

NO, the Misfits aren't anything more than trendy t-shirts sold at Walmart. Their few fans are just nostalgic about the "punk" narrative they fell for as kids.....shitty music, not being able to play an instrument, and zero record sales equals "cool and trendy". Danzig momentarily climbed out of suckage, until he lost his only members with talent, he started to believe his own satan bullshit, and started collecting cats. The Misfits gave a valiant effort with Graves, but also sunk back into obscurity. Misfits Reunion Tour: Coming to a bowling alley near you!

you never hear pantera fans moaning that anselmo wasn't the original singer. I love the Misfits but I really hate most misfits fans. most bands have lineup changes but for some reason people seem so hellbent on holding it against the Misfits for some reason. if it wasn't for the Graves era there would be a lot less misfits fans around today. if you only like the Danzig era that OK, just don't try and spoil the rest of it for others. total respect for jerry for carrying the legacy on and enjoying what he does.
The difference is Danzig wrote and arranged all the music, the singer previous to Anselmo is responsible for zero of the music Pantera is known for and would perform. Misfits became a glorified cover band without Danzig.

I saw him with the misfits in 2006 at Harpo’s in Detroit. I was in the front row, looking up at the band, when somebody bumps into my left side, is Jerry Only playing along with the band using a wireless system! Jerry was cool, he sat on the front of the stage signing autographs until everybody got theirs.😁👍

One thing i love about this interview is he explained why Project 1950 came about, he had a love of 50's music and that started his passion with music, he was honouring his influences like Def Leppard did with YEAH!

Adaiah Estrada He's not doing it for the fans, he's doing it for his own enrichment. The bands he tried to create on his own were failures (Kryst the Conqueror), so he's now doing an awful Misfits cover band against Danzig's wishes.

As far as I know, Jerry never even played Fenders throughout The Misfits career. He originally butchered Rickenbacker 4001 basses (he alluded to this practice at 1:37) until he finally was able to produce his own basses using the facilities provided by his family business. What's next, is Slash going to do promos for Fender?!

I bought an appropriate sized one from a Halloween store. Used a bamboo skewer from the kitchen to run holes through the sides (right behind the jaw, and another set further back) and then ran shoelaces through the holes (giant pain if you get a hollow one instead of a solid foam one, neither is easy). I then tie it around the headstock looping the laces around my tuning pegs to keep it from sliding around. In a Misfits tribute band, and I had to help complete the look.

I like The Misfits music and certainly respect Jerry for his contributions to music, but you have to have a sense of humour about ageing and our eventual fate. This comment was not aimed at insulting this man, just a reflection on the state of punk now as a shadow of its' former self, using this guys undying devotion to the look as a metaphor.
