Hi, Willow ❤ Oh, I've highlighted the exact part. It's surreal to know how different each translation is!

You're the second booktuber I've seen in as many days where the resident moggie demanded to share the spotlight. 😆

    Oh, the cat 😻
I was thinking that as Dostojevski got almost executed at a very young age (26 or 28?), and saw his friends get shot right next to him and was himself only saved at the very last minute, he may very well have been traumatized (and there was his time in a labour camp as well, of course). So he may have written Raskolnikov's character based on that. It's just a thought, I haven't really read up on Dostojevski yet.
By the way, in the Netherlands we used to write a w for a v in names like Dostojewski. Nowadays it's mostly a v. What would you say is the best Western spelling?

Yeah, that's a really good point actually. He did get a stay or execution at the last minute. He also had epilepsy so that could have fed into Raskolnikov's physical ailments as well.
As for spellings, it's your call. I guess it would be W in German as well. There's no 'best' western spelling, just whatever works in your language.
