Its def a decent muffle, but its still absurdly loud and not gonna do much to make a difference on the street if I cop hears/sees that lol.. He def need a big resonator, or he can just do a a valved exhaust setup where he has his fender dump, but can hit a switch and block it off and send the exhaust out the back thru a full exhaust when on the street.
@ yeah I agree its still too loud and people around specially cops would definitely notice. I would jist like to commend the effort made on that diy to muffle the sound a bit. I also agree that mazzei should do a full conventional exhaust under the car that has tolerable loudness and have a switch to use that fender exhaust so he can use this rx7 on normal roads without too much attention. Then with a flick of a switch that side exhaust will be activated! Hehe
Very significant noise lowering. Problem with rotaries in general (and especially that one!) is the heat and exhaust pulses destroy any proper noise killing device bolted behind them. The soup can will last until the first decent backfire lol. Best option would be something similar made from thick walled stainless, packed with stainless steel wool, and a bent tip to point the noise downwards.

I know people dislike that kit, but I sold my isf to get my rx7 and the wide body that makes my dream car. I'm sticking with it and love this FD. I was always told rx7 s were unreliable and when you're building a car you love who cares.
A good resonator/muffler can really make a big improvement in sound quality. Honda motors are notoriously loud and higher-pitched. The Rice kids love putting big ass 4" N1-style muffler fart cans on them and they sound like pure shit. What those Honda's need is top quality stainless(Or Ti if u have the money) with a proper silent resonator and a proper Muffler. The 18" Magnaflow Resonator and the Vibrant Ultra Quiet really deepens a Honda motors sound, it just needs to be paired with a really good muffler like the Apexi Ws2.
i had exact same thing with my GT47 supra just longer and the feed in was conical .. made a big difference .. it used to sit in a towel on the backseat when it was go time
Brilliant! Nice job you guys. It may not be perfect, but for a quick 'temp' noise reduction, it actually sounds good. I had the same type of silencer years ago in my sport bike. A real pipe out the back might eventually be needed if you want to continue to drive on the street, but this will help in the meantime.😁👍

Resonator cancel some high frequency noise but a muffler will have noticeable db reduction. A good muffler hp drop will be very small. A 4" muffler I made for a 20b made 880 rwhp around 95db. With an ear splitting straight pipe 900. Adjust boost controller to same boost same hp.
Just have a cut out for a nice ultra quiet Resonator.. Like the MF 18" or Vibrant.. I use them on my hood and fender exits and they make a huge difference. This silencer had a subtle affect, but it was still load AF.

This is what I do with 2 stroke mopeds lmfaooo. It quiets them alot but yes it caps their power. And yes, I know I'm mentioning mopeds and this is a rotor symphony, but the scenario it's the same, it would still hurt eardrums.
What more can you do?... Would fabricating an entire exhaust system with catalytic converter with QUICK DISCONNECT feature work...so a quick disconnect for the street & another for drag racing
If you re pack that thing with stainless steel wool, the packing will last longer than your first drive (that 2 stroke fiberglass packing will burn out in no time!

they're different builds, mazzei's built for the track, not a straight line, while dahm with his awd + lack of downforce will smoke mazzei in a straight line
Not gonna lie. Slowly becoming a person who genuinely likes rotary engines 😂 before I'd always hate on them, but it turns out I always hated on the 2 rotor. I still do lol. I dislike the 2 rotor alot. But the 3 and 4 rotors...😍😍 The 3 rotor is my favorite, it sounds soooo beautiful when modded correctly and in a certain rpm range
