  • Pollock from the Rocks, Savage Minnow and Sandeel V2 Weedless - Henry Gilbey
    Henry talks about the new Colours of the Savage Minnow Weedless and Sandeel V2 Weedless Lures and how they were designed for Bass, but with specific colours for big shore angled Pollock.
    SAVAGE MINNOW WEEDLESS
    With a lively kicking action both on the drop and retrieve, baitfish imitations don’t get much more realistic than this. Utilising a unique rise and stand-up jig head that ensures a perfect action, the lure comes up on the retrieve and stands up when resting on the bottom. The Pro Peg body holder makes it possible to peg the body to the head with a toothpick, creating a very simple and secure hold. The soft PVC body comes pre-rigged with a glass rattle to give the lure an extra enticing sound. This weedless version of the lure features a strong click-on connection for the interchangeable EWG hook.
    • Super realistic details
    • Lively kicking action on retrieve and drop
    • Articulated head movement

    SANDEEL V2 WEEDLESS
    With a lively kicking action on both the drop and the retrieve, this super realistic sandeel imitation will fool even the wariest of predator fish. The unique jig head ensures a perfect rolling action and that the lure will come up on retrieve. The Pro Peg body holder makes it possible to peg the body to the head with a toothpick, creating a very simple and secure hold. The soft PVC body comes pre-rigged with an internal glass rattle that gives off a provoking sound to any nearby hunting fish. This weedless version of the lure features a strong click-on connection for the interchangeable EWG hook.

    If you want the best pollock lure fishing a white and red head redgill small 3/4 foot infront of a 1-3oz lead will outfish anything else. Pollock prefer subtley rather than big thumping paddletails. Tap the bottom once wind up steady retrieve over the kelp minimises losses but a whole pack is the price of one sg lure so might lose a couple more but still the cheapest option. Enjoyed the video henry

    Excellent video, I too really enjoy pollack fishing and have had most of my success with green/yellow seekers, usually with the fish taking on the drop. I will be ordering some of those minnows for sure.
    I loved the underwater footage and did have a chuckle when the pollock swam past the lure to try and eat the camera, minute 10.07.

    Hope you got a chance to try Co Clare this trip. We're having better fishing than Kerry, and there's lots of fish. Try patchenkos or a surface popper from savage gear for Pollock especially on a hot warm calm evening. I had great fun, they'll launch themselves out of the water like a trout....I must set up my GoPro hero and get some footage of the Pollock taking the surface lures 👍

    You're no eejit Henry, but Jaysus man, they were a fine pair of pollocks.😂
    I love that initial burst when the pollock go "nope" and rip for the nearest cover. You should try a small red weedless paddle-tail on the back of a slim silver pilk lure. Pollock go mental for them and you can fish them very close to structure with less chance of snagging.

    Hi Henry hope your well really enjoyed this video. When you’re back home I’d love a chance to get out fishing with you and try out some of these lures up at penlee. As you know I love my fishing but the only lure fishing I’ve ever really done is using metals such as the dexters wedge. So I’d love to get some tips and training from you on the soft lures.

    • @SpiralMoss
      @SpiralMoss Před 2 lety +1

      It is, notice the blue above the reel seat. Great rod I landed loads of Pollock and Bass in Co Clare last year, I'd say I had over 50 bass and triple that of Pollock. I fish from black head in north Clare to the Shannon estuary along the coast. And like Henry said there's no angling pressure. We even go down the goat's trail to the bottom of the Cliffs of Moher, I don't suggest anyone go down the goat's trail. I just do stupid things and responsible for my own safety. They're 700 foot high clifs and it's a treacherous walk.... Surfer's and bodyboarders go down too and surf Aileens wave when the wind is offshore and there's a 40 foot wave down there when it all comes together.

      @skateboardingjesus4006 Před 2 lety +2

      @@SpiralMoss I know the area your referring to. That's some pretty rough and wild ground. Make sure you have someone with you when fishing. Some of the pollock down that way could take you water skiing. I caught some beauties there years ago. They make the tiddlers around Dublin look like tadpoles.

    • @SpiralMoss
      @SpiralMoss Před 2 lety

      @@skateboardingjesus4006 lol yeah especially near doolin, I've had to up my braid for one mark in particular. Have you ever had a Pollock launch itself out of the water and flap, ping goes 15lbs braid. Although Yes the rough ground doesn't help either. I'll be chasing scad soon using an ultralight dropshot savage gear rod which is used in fresh water for perch and trout. They're great fun in the ocean.
