    I've had and Engel and a national Luna, got a 65l snow master now, and it flogs the lot! So I've since picked up a 42l snowmaster and while the other lads drink warm beer, mine are well and truly cold! Absolutely unbeatable fridges!

    Not completely fair, the Waeco does not have an insulated cover. Plus they need to be spaced out so as to not have the heat from each of the units affecting the others....
    ALSO... The Waeco looks top looks beat up, which beckons the question,.How old are they? Were they all born on the same date? Manufactured date and actual useage will effect operating temps.. Otherwise good vid. A positive.. thanks!
    ps. I belive all of them use the same DC low voltage 12vdc Danfoss compressors.. (can also use 120-220vac)

  • @ThePyleDriver
    @ThePyleDriver Před 5 lety +6

    Based on my research before choosing the dual zone MT45 Engel over that Snomaster 42 I expect the power use on the Snomaster to be much higher. It would be most interesting if you could do that test on 12v power as that is where it matters. If the Snowmaster 42 had optional dual zone my choice would have been a lot harder. Cheers!

    • @AUSSIETRAINDRIVER
      @AUSSIETRAINDRIVER Před 4 lety

      They draw slightly more power, however you have a choice of low/auto/high speed selection with compressor switch.
      You can set it to low and it will probably perform as well as the Engel and better than the waeco, but on high or auto it's barely a competiton.

  • @muzzgit

    To me, those results aren't the criteria to use when choosing which fridge to buy ... I look for

    3. Price

    Had and Engel for just over 1 years. Will bring a 6pack of beers down from room temp to 4 degrees in an hour, no problems. Very happy with it.
    As for longevity usually the faster the compressor the quicker it wont last as a rule and the Waeco looks cheap and wont last against the other 2.

  • @darthvader8433
    @darthvader8433 Před 5 lety +1

    There'd be a slight disadvantage to the Waeco because it didn't have a protective cover, but in your experiment I doubt it would have affected the results.

    I wish there would be a comparison test between the National Luna and Snowmaster... Since they pretty well all use Danfoss compressors (except Engel with its linear motor piston) it appears that its all in the electronic processing Snowmaster comes on top in most cases...

    • @AUSSIETRAINDRIVER
      @AUSSIETRAINDRIVER Před 4 lety +1

      The snow master used their own compressor not a danfoss/secop.
      It's also one of the only variable speed compressors on the market.
      I had a national Luna before the snow master and the snow master genuinely outperforms it in the real world.

    Good test, but to really test the efficiency of all three it would be good to do the same test over 24 hours and record the power usage for all three. My experience is in owning several Engels and Waeco's for my business working in Central Australia and the Top End. Overall I found the Waeco to be more efficient in power usage but the plastic construction was a huge draw back due to sustained damages (inflicted accidentally by users). I am back to Engels now, as they are just about bullet proof. Note that the Waeco's need to be under cover, both from a damage point of view and to limit the impact of direct sunlight on their surface. I am keen to try the SnoMaster next!

    why did you pour the soda from the cooled bottle into the glass that is sitting at ambient room temperature therefore it is warming the liquid slightly, then you fiddle around with the temperature probe allowing the liquid in the glass to loose more "cold" to its container. I own a Weaco, an Engel and as of this week my first Snomaster. So far.... not impressed with the Snomaster... clunky compressor doesn’t fill me with confidence. After three days... it’s going back. The Weaco took an hour to reach 3 degrees... the Snomaster took more than 4 hours and even then... the bottom of the cabinet was still at 19 degrees! My Engel is over 20 years old and beats both in the reliability stakes... it’s not voltage finicky either. I tried to buy into the hype but the performance if the Chinese made Snomaster let it down.

    I'm concerned you have the Waeco breathing the hot exhaust from the Engel, the Engel breathing hot exhaust from the Snowmaster and the Snowmaster breathing fresh ambient air unblocked by nearby fridges.
    Fridges need to be set up in single file
    Remove fridge covers.
    Use a cheap K type temp sensor inserted into each opened bottle inside each fridge with lids firmly closed.
    Plug each sensor into a cheap multimeter in turn, as you see fit.
    All of the above for easier & more accurate data I can be confident is valid.

    Really 1 bottle of soda versus a 6 pack or two 6 packs in all these rather large capacity fridge freezers? Real world use does not have a power mains conveniently located in the bush. I'm an older person & I used a Dometic 3 way 40 Qt fridge( the old kind using AC, 12V or propane to cycle the refrigerant gas) for many years & had to be cautious not to freeze produce when the unit was set lower to cool contents. I wish I had had 1 of these compressor fridgge/freezers back then despite it using 12V. With judicious use a 50W solar panel can keep a dedicated 12V battery going for quite awhile with these new compressor units. Next time run the test using 12V power unless you use a generator in the bush for AC.

      robert frederick check out the 7 episode fridge tests we did. We did power consumption, insulation, cycle times etc etc all on 12v. This was just a little test I did because I couldn’t understand why my Engel was not getting the beer cold. This spun off a series of tests set up in a proper test enviroment
