NFL Week 2 has claimed many injuries already, with Saquon Barkley and Nick Bosa perhaps two of the biggest losses. Saquon Barkley of the New York Giants went down with a knee injury early on, and Nick Bosa of the San Francisco 49ers also went down after getting his left knee twisted up beneath him. In this video we'll review the injury footage and mechanism, then review some anatomy and talk about the concerning possibilities for these two NFL stars.

Just saw word that 49ers and Giants both fear that Bosa and Barkley suffered ACL tears, but will await confirmation with MRI
Can you explain all the injuries today? Lack of conditioning/training or just a coincidence?
Ali B6 maybe no pre-season to prepare for the hard contact.
Definitely think the players will rethink the benefit of the preseason.
Ali B6 for the niners it was mostly due to the turf of the stadium. It was brand new turf and made it difficult for players to play on
Just saying Saquon got injured before what clip u were showing that’s why his hand was just trying to push him away.
Nearly 30 injury’s today. Crazy
Just maybe the preseason was slowly easing these starters into game shape.
@@rodrellgreen167 shortened training camp doesn't help either
Yea my entire fantasy roster is on the friggin IR D:
nate means I wanna laugh but that’s sad as hell bro 😂
bing bong they had a full camp
Prayers both Nick and Saquon make full and speedy recoveries.
Peter Dembowy ah the stereotypical triggered Darwinist that has to comment something stupid.
Yes Bob Stewart, prayers do work and I am glad they do!
They’re resting their feet on blue hundreds and baby doves bruh I think they’ll make it lol naw but in all seriousness we need em both to return to full form. Well I know Bosa will because he’s all technique
@Peter Dembowy Do you have evidence that it doesn't work?
Peter Dembowy it depends on context. In a debate, like the one that just initiated, the person who challenges the initial theory or statement must challenge them with facts or evidence. You can’t call for evidence without having any evidence whatsoever. Unless you’re the cops, by government law their testimony alone is enough to convict you
Bosa hooking onto that thick turf definitely had a factor in the injury. They need to fix that and stop being cheap. PUT GRASS IN!
Brando Yager I’ve always said this but it’s also incredibly more costly cause of the amount of stress cleats puts on grass and you’re also using a large supply of water
@@ernestobalcazar7440 u are in the nfl and have a team in san francisco, money shouldn't be a problem
JaVale game was played in NY, sf has to play on whatever they have. At Levi’s stadium there is real grass
@@user-lj1hl9gk8h well same thing , u have a team in new york you shouldn't be cheap and pay for it
@@Pablo30237 Labour in NY is far more expensive tho
You got this out quickk. Good job doc

Mr Logical Mind Us giant fans are kinda use to by now
Frank Masselli I’ve been a niner fan and I’m used to it as well we were horrible from 2014 to 2018 the 2019 season was our best season in a long time but these injuries are killing us this year brings back memories 😔
Giants should be 2-0
Last week: "We don't need a pre-season to avoid injuries"
This week: Hold my beer
Best wishes to all. Hoping it's a fluke week and people stay healthy.
sandman9601 most starters don’t even play pre season it probably has more to do with offseason train camps shorted.
Can you prove this with stats or?? I’m just curious as most of these guys play under a quarter in the preseason.
Injures happen every year. Some early some late. It's playing sports. Injures are going to happen no matter what. They happen in practice as well. I hope they both recover fast and come back just as good.
Preseason doesn’t prevent injuries.
Pre-season lets you work on technique at game speed without caring about the game itself. It's well established that this (along with camp) is key to injury prevention. Also, I saw the self thumbs up :)
Did dude really shoot, edit, and upload this video in 1 hour? Were you just standing by waiting for someone to tear their ACL today?
He did the same with Zion and I think within an hour honestly. Man has this down to a science by now
Well I would Imagine for my man the easy part is the medical stuff as he knows what he is talking about. It's probably the editing that takes up his time.
2 words: work ethic
Dang but Barkley’s quads r huge tho like god damn

This day has just been crazy...I must say that now when a players get injured and I see a knee inversion I can thank you for educating me on the possible injuries sustained.
This is a great channel.
Prayers to both of them!!!! Both will come back stronger an better 💪🏽🤙🏽
Not only does saquon have a torn acl he has a strained mcl and a partial meniscus tear to my knowledge the acl is the only injury that’s gonna require surgery out of the 3 that he sustained but will it be much harder for him to rehab than if it was just an acl tear? i loved him at penn state and prayed the giants took him in 2018 and i don’t want him to have an even harder time recovering than he’s already been tasked with
Yeah it sucks. I'm a Penn State and hope Saquon just wait it out & heal cos the Giants are just gonna break him to pieces.
ACL will require a surgery, he is out for at least 9 months. Because they're doing the ACL, they're going to repair the other ligaments. It's likely he tore it because of the strain on the other ligaments. Healing from all 3 takes the same amount of time as healing from one. The body heals everything simultaneously. Whether he'll be equally good is another question.
Appreciate u sharing your knowledge Doc, cheers 👊🏻
Great vid Dr. Sutterer, been waiting for this one.
Currently an MS3, considering PM&R!
The fact you could predict this is so cool, sad to see them go down though
How’s he predict it?
Bugtia games he used his knowledge from medical school to predict what the injury was. This video was posted before final confirmations, as he does with many of his past videos. Low and behold, he has yet to be incorrect.
Bugtia games mecanism of an injury determines 90% of the type of lesion , there are cases where something unusual happens but when it comes to ligaments and tendons, the mecanism of the movement is highly predictive of what ull find its quite easy actually , textbook knowledge for orthopedics
Hey Doc-Former registered x-ray tech here that's really enjoying your videos. Haven't worked for years due to an MVA & one of the things I miss most is getting to talk to docs about various cases and injuries. I really miss the language of medicine as well. Listening and learning from your videos has brought that back to me & I thank you very much for that. I want to ask you how many orthopedic surgeons it takes to change a light bulb. Just one. He holds the light bulb and the rest of the world revolves around him! I miss medical humor a lot too!
I can always count on you for a quick update, thanks Doc!
You're so on top of it! Thanks always for quality content :)
Your videos are very encouraging and helpful for an aspiring doctor/physician
I've never seen this level of in depth analysis of injuries before, very informative. I like👍
Love your videos and seeing the injuries and saying okay this is bad and basically called out for the season for both of them.
The psychology involved with coming back after injury is an insanely difficult task, i hope we can see the same barkley and bosa if not a better version of themselves...
sucks being a giants fan😭
facts yo
Devin Riordan i’m hurt bro. i knew we was gonna suck but damn😂😭

much appreciated the info doc keep it up we athletes around the world need this info
Prayers to both players 🙏🏽
Hope they have a speedy recovery 🙏.
Saquon had the Blake jarwin moment where his knee just loses stability
This channel is dope, i concur 🙌
Being a doctor and having a successful channel that’s rlly nice
I tore my ACL similar to how Barkley tore his but mine was in football practice. I had to have surgery and it took me about 5-6 months until I was able to get to running again. Prayers for both Barkley and bosa, hope for a speedy recovery!
Nice analysis
I love your videos, this is literally what I am going to college for
Excellent sir
Wow thanks for this . I was in tears over the Barkley injury. This explained a lot to me though . Now I know what’s bothering my OWN knee lol . MCL soreness constantly
I was waiting for him to come out with this video
Hate to see injuries. All the best and a full speedy recovery to Barkley, Bosa, Irvin and all injured players. Go Hawks
Great video
Awesome vid. Hate seeing these injuries but interesting hearing from a dr about how and what can cause them. The dreaded ACL ugh
That office looks crazyyy 🔥🔥🔥
Goosebumps with his hit freeze frame. ✔
man as a niners fan i’m so depressed
Jonathan King fr but man that metlife turf is sus asf
It’s because MetLife stadium has the worst turf ever
All turf should be removed and only grass planted in all stadiums.
Bahrakus 100% agreed
Well, at least y’all will beat us next week 😭
Could you say in every vid if and how you can prevent these injuries. That would be good to know.
Is this anatomy software Visible Body? Looks like what I use to study and my professors use for lectures and labs in my Kinesiology classes.
i think itd be cool to see some pro snowboarding/skiing content. for example, explaining marcus kleveland shattering his patella, the surgery they did to fix it, and his recovery, or going into depth on kevin pearce's TBI, or talking about scotty lago breaking his jaw in the art of flight. among many others obviously, those are just some that i thought of off the top of my head.
There are a few articles that turf fields lead to more acl tears due to there being less give. I also tore my acl on a turf field that I noticed my foot was getting stuck in the ground a lot.
From the videos I was thinking both tore acls and other injuries, esp On Barkley’s injury. I’ve learned a lot from this channel and watched sports awhile.
Great Video Doc! 👌🤝👏🏼👏🏼🙏🏽
What program do you used to describe anatomy of injury? I'm a Kinesiologist ;would greatly enjoy. Thank you
Hey Dr. Sutter, I am starting school to be a sports chiropractor next week! Just found you channel and find it awesome! I was wondering what software you are using to look at the knee anatomy? Thanks :)
Can you do an update on recovery time and therapies these players would have to go through? Great video.
Looks like it’s gonna be a busy Sunday for you doc
You should do an analysis on Joe Theismann’s injury when Lawrence Taylor sacked him in 1985
Good job
McCaffrey is out as well.
Is it bad? I kno it’s an ankle injury and he was out for the game, but is it gonna be like 6-8 weeks?
I.T nah I doubt it. If they hold him out it’s bc there’s no reason to play him
@@i.t1698 it was bad enough that he didn't go back into a close game.
@@jlegend1961 no reason to play him? They are trying to win games, if he's not playing he's hurt.
Lance37a They’re aren’t gonna win tho. They’re the worst team in the division, they need high draft picks. No reason to start cmc, they’re gonna lose and he can get hurt again
Tore my acl back in February.. definitely not fun. Hoping these 2 guys can come back strong.
Solo an Thomas injury was also gruesome
As a crabs fan I hope he gets better soon

wow now i feel like a insider to the football injury world....My man you are good. you break this stuff down so the average joe like myself knows what is going on. Do you play fantasy football you can make a killing explaining these injuries to the fantasy football world. Thanks bro
Stuff that i wanted to see. Pls upload more of football
Magic spoon the new manscaped
Barkley's injury started last Monday night on that hurdle play, where he landed with a straight leg awkwardly. He definitely hyperextended it last week.
Hey Brian as someone who’s interested in a athletic med career I was wondering what kind of courses you took in school thanks!
I was watching and the second Saquon went down, I said damn he just tore his ACL and my mans Bryan is about to drop a banger
I’m like 3 months post acl reconstruction. Shit has been such a pain.
Love your vids. I love what you do, it is an inspiration to me. I’m a pre med student at the university of Dayton and I love sports. Hopefully one day I can do something that involves both. If you see this, thank you! Also I have a video request. Could you explain the pros and cons of the carnivore diet? Dr. Baker I think is a huge advocate for it. Joe Rogan also has tried it and has talked about it on his podcast a lot. Thank you and any advice on career paths in the medical field would be appreciated.
Former college football player tore my right ACL and meniscus jr year tore my left ACL MCL partial PCL and meniscus senior year with how great doctors are and the top level rehab programs they'll have I'm sure they'll be back to themselves in a year ...the injury sucks and takes a while but at least to me isn't as career threatening as it once was I felt like I was able to return to form in 10 months or so and they'll have even better treatment
This guy took two things he loves and made a career out of it. I really respect you
The Bosa one was the one that got me... torn my ACL before and that’s exactly how mine happened.
Damn..
When did your injury occur?
I’ve had a lateral meniscus tear during football and it’s not great since I got a bucket tear I lost out on my senior season
Quick question about a non contact tear, is it possible for any crucial ligament to be partially torn before the full tear ?
Hey Brian, I’m a little late to this video but I have a question, what are the typical situations for MCL/LCL tears? I ask because I fear a tore either my LCL/MCL a number of years ago, and I’m wondering if my situation(s) are relevant to those kinds of injuries.
Ur the man
Do I want to watch this before a game tomorrow yes yes I do
Do you think the turf actually caused the 49ers injuries
Oh sure. They had a TON of injuries, a lot of them on the knee.
Trash Storage ankles too, both sides. Granted niners got the shit end of the stick. Terrible day to be a niners fan, doesn't even feel like we won
Mike totally feel you. I would take losses to the Jets and Giants just to get one or two guys back.
Do you know any ways to strengthen the knee to prevent injury?
Pain.
Why does damage to the acl occur and not the pcl?
It’s was just confirmed that Barkley tore his acl and will miss the season
U serious
Shut up
I tore both my ACL and my MCL at the same time because when i was playing football a guy landed on my knee sideways and pushed it inward
The play before that run that you were analyzing should also be getting attention. Saquon took a hard hit to that same knee, and got up slowly. Next play, takes a hit to the same spot, sheds it, then tweaks it on that awkward plant a couple steps later. Definitely linked.
Skip to 1:37 of czcams.com/video/m33eyz54Tn0/video.html for context.
did anyone see a few plays before saquon tore his acl, it looked like he broke his arm or something on a fall?
Dam this explains a lot I had this injury before but didn’t get surgery could that be why I’m in pain still it’s been 13 years since school and I did that in football but would I need surgery
What technology or app is he using while going over the ligaments and bones?
Where’d you get those posters in the back though?!
Tore my ACL a while back lol. What are your takes on turf vs grass? I’ve seen quite a few of tears in my football career specially in the knee. I’ve also seen people tear their acl stepping off a curb. With that said it’s hard for me to just say “it’s bec of the turf” when it could just be an unlucky event.
Ho ho ho Hoosiers! Great content. Thank you.
What do you use to show off the anatomy? Also why does it not show off the knee cap?
Being a Giants fan is suffering.
I know
Pain :(
Especially when barkley is all you had on offense
Is there a possibility that (from what I saw) the two hits with the defenders helmet to Barkley’s knee (a couple plays before where he was a bit slow to get up and on the same play he got injured) allready bruised, made some tears or something else to the knee/ACL and that this was the catalyst for the ACL tear?
You should cover Tyrod Taylor when more news is released about his chest injury
I get the feeling you will eventually have to make a video on Barkley’s running mechanics.
I dont think it would apply for the Bosa injury but an interesting topic would be on artificial turf vs. real grass and if turf really does affect knee injury chances.
Shoutout to the luck jersey in the background
Please do a video about Tyrod Taylor’s punctured lung from a “pain killer” injection (i’m assuming they’re referring to a steroid). I love these videos so much!
No, it was a painkiller, they were trying to sedate some thoracic nerves that were causing him pain. They did it poorly and ended up giving him Pneumothorax because they punctured his lung. I don't know where you got the steroid part from. I'm no expert but I don't think steroids are injected in the chest area.
Can you breakdown Jay Cutler’s MCL injury during the 2011 NFC Championship?
I like the way he makes it so easy to understand. He sounds like a biology professor.
Would love to see a breakdown of what happened with Tyrod Taylor if possible
Can you do a Paris Campbell injury video
Is it possible to reinforce and accelerate healing mcl lcl acl etc using adult stemcells?
Can you make a video covering Tyrod Taylor’s punctured lung
Talk about a fast video production
As someone who tore both of their ACLs and other ligaments...this is so painful and depressing to watch 😢
