- Ontario Premier Doug Ford joined Toronto 640 host John Oakley for an exclusive sit-down interview on Thursday, where he was asked about housing affordability, crime and auto thefts, budget concerns, the media and more.
Ford lashed out over Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault's controversial remarks on federal road funding, saying he was "out to lunch."
"What are we doing? Are we going to be riding on horseback or bicycles or whatever?" He said.
He also spoke about crime and auto thefts across the GTA, delivering a call to action over the airwaves. "All the criminals over there listening, driving around in a stolen car. We're coming to get you. We're going to catch you and we're going to throw you in jail for a long time," he said.
When asked if he thought the media was fair to him, Ford said "not at all," but that "it's alright."
He called it "very political," to which Oakley pointed out: "You're in politics, though."
And, Ford attempted to clarify the difference between 'attainable' housing and affordable housing.
The radio booking represents a rare long-form interview with the premier, who has not taken part in similar year-end interviews for several years.

I am sorry that Doug Ford did not have the insight or foresight to head off some of Ontario’s housing problems. No leadership here. I am sorry that Doug Ford ignores the role of addiction in his own family.
It’s the federal government who flooded the city with new immigrants and foreign students, the Ontario government had no say in it. That caused the housing crisis. As far as Rob Ford’s addiction, saying something positive about him is not ignoring it.
What does Ford do? Sit with other countries in "meetings" about Ontario? Does Ford forget he is Canadian?

Most land in Ontario is Crown land, which is public land owned by the provincial government. Nearly all of northern Ontario is Crown land, while southern Ontario is mainly privately-owned land. Buying crown land has restrictions and conditions on the use of the land.The Ontario Government owns very little land in southern Ontario, except places like the "green belt"...

I would love to know which area and demographics were most likely to have the benefit of participating in the pubic consultation done. Seems like the first thing to ask is how was this province ensuring proper and equatable notification was given.
Stop with the “we” nonsense and attitude..because there is more of the “US” that are notified after the decision was made…How about finishing the monster projects your government started..instead of touching everything and fixing or finishing absolutely nothing!
