Always nice to let a bass like that go . When they have big head like that, you know they are going to grow fast. The bigger the mouth the bigger the prey.
You sound like a complete rock. The mouth is growing with the fish and of course genetically some will have a slightly bigger mouth then some but not enough to make a difference in prey selection

@Mask-qy5on that fish is starving. It takes lots of bait fish to feed something like that. That's a golf corse pond so I doubt they are stocking it. Someone probably caught a huge fish somewhere else and put it in that pond. Slowly starving so it will bite anything.
Back in the 1980's my brother and I went to the lake at the country club. I had worked on the course cutting fairways and tees and my little brother was currently working there doing the same. If you know bass in those ponds you know it's common for 4 or 5 of the big bass to cruise the shore just before the sun goes down. I've seen it many times in many places. Just as we walk up to the East side of #17 green I see 4 big bass together cruising through the shallows in front of #16 tee heading away from us. I had on a #3 Purple Mepps spinner and I casted it out as far as I could the other side of them, and reeled back slow so the spinner blade was barely turning. The one that grabbed it was was 4lbs. 10 oz. I know of a 2 lb. crappie that came out of that lake too back in the 1950's. If you can get permission, they can be great fishing. Of course the caveat on golf course fish is the fungicides and weed killers that go on the golf course often end up in the ponds and the fish.
