    I need to clarify that the show is OPEN TO ALL. The parking lot is organized a certain way and certain kinds of cars are placed in specific sections (Muscle, JDM, Americana, Exotic, Sports cars, German/Euro cars, etc). But unfortunately, if a car comes in and has peeling paint, rusting, completely lacks care and demands to park next to a whole bunch of pristine builds, exotics, show cars, classics, etc, then I have to politely decline and ask they park at general attendance. The only exceptions to patina'd cars are classics and ratrods.

      explanation really isn't necessary. its kind of an obvious thing. I don't even know how someone can drive a 100k car around town, I would be shitting my pants the whole time. Let alone parking near people's beaters and life long dented and neglected pos. They know who they are and should respect other people's rides even if they don't care about their own. Their basic insurance wouldnt even be enough to repair minor damage to cars of that caliber. Anyone bitching is a trouble maker anyway. Don't be jealous because someone has nicer stuff than you, someone always will. Just appreciate being able to see something so nice, some cars at these kind of shows are once in a lifetime rare

      People forget (or don't care) that 90% of shows are on someone else's property and should be treated with respect. Reckless activity should be prohibited due to principle alone. Imagine you invite people over to your house for dinner/backyard bbq and two assholes run around your house naked with a 40 in their hands. It's the same level of disrespect and obnoxiousness. And don't forget that they put pedestrians, bystanders, and drivers in danger by swinging a 3500 lb brick full of fuel around them.

Then the A-holes showed up and ruined it for everyone. Burning rubber. crashing , show boating. I bowed out and let a local car dealership take over.....Good thing I did. I have 22 years experience putting on shows, cruise in's, etc. You can't stop all of it. But, let's be honest, a lot of car owners want to show off for the crowd. And the crowd eggs the car owners on. So, in other words...peer pressure. I've seen drivers jeered and heckled because they refuse to do a burnout. As much as car owners need to be reminded of proper decorum, so do the spectators.

  • @Wildchildinc

    As a fellow show organizer, I understand this pain. A way to deter the actions is by promoting more purposeful track builds on flyers, maybe showcasing footage of the cars that attend the events at the track if they have media of it or even compiling crash footage at events in a somewhat mocking way to entertain and educate against it. Those two things help break egos and can even set a standard of behavior for the audience. This approach helped weed out the clout chasers as my own event started to grow so it might work for yours too.

      it’s a skill issue

    • @imnota
      @imnota Před rokem +24

      I have a technique for you to find out :
      1. Go to a Dodge dealership
      2. Ask to test drive a 392 or higher
      3. Turn off all assists
      4. First thing when you exit the parking lot, before you've even full left, floor it.
      You'll quickly understand, after those years of driving sub 200hp FWD (no offense, I don't know honda btw so that might be wrong assumption too) that it's a different world, and while it's not particularly difficult to handle, it's something that requires experience or easing into if you don't have the experience. But kids at the meet just got the car, don't know how to countersteer or anything, go to meets and try to impress by flooring them with the wheels still turned and then they're shocked when the car steps out, they don't know what to do about it and boom. Plus leaving meets is never really straight lines, actually most people that crash do because they think it's just a straight pull, nothing can happen, because that's how FWD or AWD is, but if you got a torquey RWD car even just leaving at an angle and still having the wheel slightly turned can lead to bad result if you can't handle it. Another common mistake is too high wheelspeed, if you've ever been in a really powerful rwd car you know what I mean, spinning wheels is one thing, easily controllable, but if the rear wheels get a lot of speed difference with the actual ground speed it becomes sketchy, which is why you need to modulate the throttle even if your goal is to spin the wheels, and it's not something most unexperienced people expect, they just floor the damn thing, next thing that happens is 120mph wheel speed on a 40mph car and they get suprised when the only thing the rear end wants to do is to go in front lol
      I know people on the internet like to act all though and say they're beast at driving (not saying that's your case) but I've yet to see anyone IRL that went from FWD or AWD and switched to RWD and didn't get surprised the first time they did an aggressive manoeuver, amongst some people I know there's even one guy that used to track FWD cars and is very fast, I was passenger in his new BMW and he almost spun the thing out in the middle of the road (he caught it too late, but was able to slow it down and straighten it when it was basically at walking speed) because he thought it was fun to step on it on pulling out of lots or on corner exits of slow corners, he had done it successfully a few times and his general driving skills gave him a lot of confidence but he quickly found out that he indeed did not know perfectly how to handle RWD cars yet LOL

    • @fericyde
      @fericyde Před rokem +14

      "I gotta do a burn out to impress everyone"
      "I've never done this before, but I know how to turn traction control off, let's start there"
      "Oh, hey, this car is doing something I've never had it do before! What the hell is happening?!?!? What do I do!?!?!"
      And there you have it in a nutshell.
      Those of us that grew up with cars from the 60's and 70s that made horsepower we know you let off the gas and deal with it. Those with newer cars have not been aware of traction/stability control doing work for them on a daily basis keeping them from running into stuff. It's a sudden surprise when the car starts to wind off in a different direction than where they're pointing it.
      But let's go deeper -- doing stuff like drifting and burn-outs in a public area like the one above is not only rude -- it's dangerous. You don't know who you're going to affect if you lose it. It's not a track condition, in other words -- you're in public. This not the place for this kind of demonstration. You're being rude to the people in the neighborhood and the person hosting the event.
      Just ... don't do it. You want to embarrass yourself, do it in your own neighborhood on your own time or better yet, in a safe location like a track.
      I am helping a friend host a weekly event and we have the problem shown above. Everyone wants to leave the event making a statement but most have heard the owner of the establishment (also the guy generously donating his location for the event) tell everyone "don't do a burn-out leaving the show". He now has cameras set up in both directions and people that violate the rule will be purposely not invited back -- and likely will be getting a ticket if things go the way we're planning.
      The other thing I'd suggest if you have something this popular -- put out the word to some of the people attending the event that you're looking for volunteers to help you run it. As you scale up the event, scale up the volunteers. Be careful who you ask for help. Get the more mature, saner minds to help you in other words, and as your event grows you won't be so overwhelmed.
      Hope this helps.

Sadly, that got taken over by somebody else who decided to publicize it... and within a year: gone. Kids showed up, burnouts, revving, etc...
    The best meets are private with just a few friends. And if you do them early in the morning (where you're wrapping it up by 8:30-9a) then most of the "kids" are just rolling out of bed when you're leaving.

    I had no idea Orlando was such a car place. I mean, the traffic there is absolute shite and the i75 drivers aggressive. I used to dread having to go through there to the airport for example. i75 is just one aggressive lifted pickup after another, making their own decision about the speed limit, and undertaking when they see a way through. Hell, I've seen them use the right shoulder to overtake. Florida is not known for it's superb driver education, so I imagine most think it's ok to pass on the right. It's not. Another factor is the lack of any kind of safety check. There's loads of cars out there that should not be on the road at all, let alone an interstate. They drive around on flat tires with mono headlights and one working Caliper. How reassuring.
    But clearly there's some car love in Orlando, given the clips you showed. Some lovely cars. I'm not into supercars, so I like seeing older cars at the shows, and listening to the owners tell the history of their cars. But I'm a car guy and a La Ferrari is a la Ferrari🔥.
    Shame on the 'traction control off' crowd. Many of today's cars are way over powered and need respect. Monkey's with a pulse and a decent credit score can get into cars that would have been completely out of reach to young people in my day. They go from a slammed 4 cyl JDM type car and turbo all the things, to a supercar, or an appliance with insane battery power (Tesla) and most never even do a track day or HPDE. So it's not surprising that CZcams is loaded with burnouts gone wild. Mildly entertaining and ja, schadenfreude is a guilty pleasure. But too often, people are hurt or worse. Car insurance must be very expensive for young people, rightly so. These cars need to be respected. Sadly there's very little respect anywhere these days. I don't understand the need for 500 whp and more... You can't use it for more than what, 2 seconds?
    My 911 has less than 300hp, and even in that a pull in second gear breaks the 45mph limit by a long shot. So how much fun can it be to ride around in a murci? The answer is sometimes, 'a lot of fun' of course, but fer Chrissake, learn when not to abuse that gas pedal.
    Look at this rant. I was just going to thank you for the well produced video and your obvious love of cars. Heh. See what happens when you get old. I'm like Eastwood in Gran Torino. Minus the violent tendencies and guns. So not really at all. Thanks for sharing!

    Love the video, and I'm glad that more people are speaking out on this behavior. I have one question for you, How do you financially manage an event like this? You mentioned paying Police Officers for their presence, do you also have to pay the venue, concessions, stands, etc? Do you collect any fees from any vendors or concessions that are at your meets due to the size of it? Just curious, as my local area used to have C&C sponsored by the local College, but this sort of behavior got it barred from happening again. So now there's no real organized group and it's just kids on Saturday nights with their clapped out civics in the supermarket parking lot...

      I make virtually nothing on this show considering how much time I put into it. I probably can't go into the specifics with my sponsorship agreements, but believe me the money is exceptionally little and in some cases none. I don't do this for monetary gain and for years, I didn't even want sponsors because I was worried about the show looking 'commercial'. But a few friends with some automotive related businesses asked if they could sponsor and I was okay with that because I could vouch for their work.
      These days, the auto museum covers my police expenses, which were about $50 an hour (3 hours total).
