- The trend-setting #AcuraZDX has returned! But this time, @acura has brought the #ZDX back as a fully electric SUV and giving us the first-ever #ZDXTypeS and #ZDXASpec! Sharing a platform with the excellent Cadillac Lyriq and riding on the GM scalable #Ultium platform, the new ZDX will offer up to 325 miles of range and 500 HP in #TypeS form, making this car the most powerful production SUV ever built from #Acura and the first ever RWD SUV from the company.

Good evening guys! Thanks for your patience! Rob and I literally flew to Detroit just for the day this morning to film this car for an hour in the studio and it was a very impressive looking vehicle in-person! We'll be looking forward to hopefully getting behind-the-wheel of this new model by the end of this year. We also wanted to mention because we forgot to say so in the video, the Type S version comes standard with an adaptive air suspension, which is currently unavailable on the GM twins, the Lyriq and Blazer EV!
So it's a GM
@@KROMO50 just like the iconic Toyota Supra is now just a bmw
What’s your point?
How nice of GM putting Adaptive Air Suspension on Acura but not on their own EVs.
@@blackwhirlwind1245no Acura did that
Portland, JAMAICA in the Building!!!
I wasn't ready for an EV but when I saw the ZDX, I considered it. But when I learned Acura partnered with GM and it sounded like most of the car has GM crap, that was a deal breaker.
This thing is a beauty! It’s good to see that some automakers, like Audi, Cadillac, Hyundai, Kia, Polestar, Volvo, and now Acura, are building electric cars that are genuinely appealing, while Mercedes and BMW are lost in their weirdness.
A beauty? It looks horrible.
You call this a beauty ???!!!!! 🤦🏻🤣😂🙄 Honda/Acura need to hire some European designers like Hyundai & KIA did If they want to be on top of car design.
hyundai / kia. ? 😂
@@tpndgo2061The designers fat Kia was hired from Audi. Therefore he is correct. The Ill stick with my vehicle.
And tesla is still dead set on making the most boring cars in history
I just spent a week in a Lyriq, and I must admit I was impressed. The range was pretty impressive for the size and my uneconomical driving habits. I got about 320 miles on full battery consistently. So if you guys think Honda made the wrong move, you’re sadly mistaken.
I came away equally impressed with the Lyriq. Sure, it isn't as fast as a Model X Plaid, but the ride and build quality were superb! And the interior was shockingly good for a Caddy that was $63K.
How is the cornering?
@@YoungilJun this was its weakest point imo. It handled like a luxury Cadillac, not sporty at all. Hopefully Acura tunes the ZDX to feel more sporty in corners.
Acura is known for their handling with their SH-AWD...it better be good in the corners
I am an Acura loyalist and have been excited about the ZDX. However, any collaboration with GM will have me running in the opposite direction.
It's an EV, who gives a F🙄
@@klasseact6663 Did you watch the review? GM brought their cheapness. When Acura makes their own EV I’ll be in.
Same for me.
@@MBCARIOTI They are not as big as g m so that's just the way it is
@@MBCARIOTI By the way I did not watch all of the review
So weird to see GM licensing this platform to Honda/Acura
Don’t think the Honda parent company had many options to commercialize EV tech in a timely or efficient manner
I can't do American cars! The only American car I would buy is a GT500 or TRX lol
Shows how far behind the Japanese are with EVs....sad. funny enough somehow Nissan has the Ariya out and the range isn't bad, not too compare but Honda should have bigger budget than Nissan
@@ronaldomike I am a self admitted Honda fanboy and am disappointed with their lack of EV progress, as well as a lack of a respectable 2 door sports car outside the NSX. Boring.
Two comments: red brake calipers would suit the colour theme.
In my opinion, the silver rocker panel painted in black matte would look sexier.
Ha ha ha… the AC controls and infotainment system is straight out of my 2023 GMC Canyon truck 😂
And is that bad?
I like that the door and glove box in the Acura aren’t a ridiculous process to open like it is in the Lyric
In an era where luxury brands are making things more complex than necessary, Acura should make functionality and ergonomics as part of their identity
@@Blank00 that’s what I like about Honda and Toyota. Less gimmicks than the other brands
The Lyriq has door handles for 2024.
@@Rosabil but the Lyriq door handles are more likely to break and are less ergonomical. They are futuristic, but that does not mean future proof because it is not as functional as the conventional door handles
@@Blank00 Model 3 has had them for 6 years at this point. They're fine and here to stay.
Looks great, but when are these manufacturers ever going to learn that the American consumer is mostly concerned with RANGE? All the luxuries are secondary. For the price, these EVs should be starting at 500 miles of range. Go ahead and end our range anxiety. Any EV that offers 300 miles of range for 2024 is already behind.
Agreed. My top two concerns were range and price. If this is starting at 60K then the CRV is going to start at 45K. This is ridiculous. It’s as if, the entire industry wants Tesla to win
From the side view it looks like a hearse. Especially with that piece of chrome on the C pillar.
I thought I was the only one!!! Someone should have pick that up and re do that rear upper panel...also the dash looks too Honda accord/civic to me.
glad im not the only one
Imagine buying an Acura thinking you are getting Honda reliability, only to find out you actually bought a GM.
Or buying a Ford or Dodge car and find out its their emblem on a Chinese car. Smart partnerships are Toyota / Mazda for example or Toyota / Subaru being sibling companies.
That is what a lot of Acura customers expect to be honest. They are loyal to the brand because of Honda reliability. Hopefully Honda really put the QC at the fore front with this GM power train
U bought a Gm with acura emblem
Have your arm hanging out the window, range drops to 250 miles
I love your reviews ! Thanks for such a thorough overview.
New ZDX is the best thing that happened to Acura since original MDX. All haters saying "it is not a true Honda" need to research about Ultium platform and play with GM infotainment, which is light years ahead of anything that Honda/Acura is currently using.
I've been watching your channel since the beginning
Thanks Acura, this is what I want. GM (un) reliability in my Acura cars.
It's an EV...there's no GM anything💀🤔🙄
You have no clue. GM makes some of the best EVs and some of the best EV tech in the world. As far as reliability goes - my newer GM car is actually better than my previous Acura.
Bro I’m seeing you commenting all over this video complementing GM, do you work for GM?, I have a 2022 Acura RDX fully loaded but unfortunately not good on gas and was doing my research about this vehicle, as soon as I read collaboration with GM i fully STOP there, GM is trash and Acura made a bad move teaming up with them, now sadly gotta look at freaking Tesla maybe.
@@yordan826 maybe check out Hyundai/KIA/ Genesis
@@yordan826 what makes GM trash exactly? You need to get on with the times. Did you drive anything new from GM? I am commenting because I owned 3 new Acuras: 2004 TSX, 2010 TSX, 2013 RDX and now I drive a new GM car that I love way more than my previous Acuras. I was a total Acura fanboy until I decided to go GM. I never looked back. Now I have a chance to get an Acura without horrible ugly touchpad infotainment and all new Ultium EV platform. Test drive new Cadillac Lyriq, it is amazing.
First EV to catch my eye. I'm a GM guy so it makes sense now. Interior reminds me of my 23 Silverado. Love it.
I'll wait for the quality and reliability reviews and will consider purchasing.
Looks good but also kinda like a hearse from the rear. Not a fan of huge silver trim on the bottom. With the tax credit I see this doing well. Though the Honda and Chevy versions will be more affordable.
The tacked on black hearse top is hilarious! Come Acura, you had to see that?
Not sure if I'm disappointed or just not ready for a fully electric zdx... We have 2 ZDXs and a Crosstour in the family (a Ridgeline and A CRZ too)...yes we love Honda. Would totally consider a V6 ZDX with a coupe-like look.
Acura just keeps dropping the ball.
Nah. Acura keeps nailing this. I can think of a brand who constantly drops the ball
OMG WOW...
Excellent review.
You made me drool
Wow, new GM ZDX 👍
I really like the first generation ZDX when that came out, it was such an interesting coupe-like SUV that drove really well, had that amazing 3.7L VTEC V6 with 300 HP, and it was just unique for its time. But I gotta say, Acura bringing back the ZDX in this form is really cool, and I really love the design that Acura is going with for this vehicle. Interior, I think Acura could have definitely done more, since I'm a fan of Acura interiors. I'm not saying that GM interiors are bad, but Acura could have definitely done much more and put more of their own flavour to it, even if this shares a platform with the Lyriq.
Original ZDX drove like a truck, it was extremely heavy and its 3.7 liter engine was extremely weak for its weight. I tested 1st gen ZDX and I hated everything about it, but it looked good on the outside. No wonder it failed so bad.
Agreed, they tried their best with what they had and it does look a lot like their other interiors. But if I owned this car and had to see the GM switches and hear the GM chime everyday in an Acura, I would be extremely disappointed.
@@Masterguy635 I traded my previous Acura RDX for a new GM car and I love everything about it. I love GM chime and everything GM in it. GM infotainment is light years ahead of anything in new Acuras.
personally not a fan of the materials GM uses for interiors, but I agree the google based infotainment on the new gm cars is excellent. @@00_UU
@@00_UUidk what you're talking about the ZDX PULLED. Especially with the V6.
I feel this is the best of the platform mates. I'd go with the awd A-spec for the better range. It has more than enough power.
Kinda sad they abandoned the original design of the ZDX. It looked so unique. Almost like a super sized hatchback.
Somebody said it looks like a hearse, and now that's all I can see!
I'll stick with my 2023 mdx a - spec. This ZDX is lackluster inside & out.
Acura ZDX type GM
Hearse vibes
I find it pretty funny how he mentions that the silver trim in the bottom is a trivial fix and that most buyers would paint it to color match with the rest of the car. First of all, this car will be pretty expensive, so having to spend more money to have it color matched sucks. Also, correctly matching a color like that metalic blue is probably very hard, so you run into the possibility of ending with shoddy paint job. And lastly, I don't think that the prospective buyers of this vehicle are the kind of people that take their cars to a shop to get trims color matched. If this was some kind of enthusiasts car, maybe, but not a cookie cutter electric luxury suv.
this is actually a Buick E5 sold in China for 30-40k usd.
Love Acura! My opinion is drop the chrome trim above the windows. (Maybe shadow line). At the rear end of the profile it just stops and flares up slightly. Gives a look of a sporty hearse.
Props to General Motors.
I’m impressed… ❤
Beautiful 😍
I may be one of the few who actually loves the silver trim along the bottom sides. It gives the side profile more depth and uniqueness. In fact, it reminds me of the two-tone paint Lexus was using on its sedans in the '90s and early 2000s. That's a good thing!
And adds luxury flair
I like it a lot too.
Congratulations on your Million plus subscriber views
Thanks Acura for making the zDX front and rear part of the rest of the family 😂 this electric ⚡ 🚗 looking 😂 crazy sporty with so much horsepower that's amazing 🤩 yes I have a 2015 MDX tech straight fun to drive looking forward to more review on this zDX
If the MSRPs are relatively close between this and the Lyriq, I'd go with the Lyriq ALL day!
I smelled the GM through the phone.
Looks good let's go
Working for GM, that infotainment is running the same software as all current GM products and anticipated future products just a different skin that Acura came up with. No product has been announced to not include CarPlay or android auto.
About time we got an electric wagon!! That is a long roof!
Yup. That silver/gray painting on the lower section does draw your eyes down and its a distraction to appreciate the rest of the beautiful body. Make that front, side and back lower side trim thinner and gloss black similar to MDX but dont add that swoop accent trim. This is type S, Acura should keep the tradition of sportiness whether its an ICE or EV.
Great looking EV. Reliabality should be good too I think as there's less mechanical parts. Hopefully Acura will supervise the build quality. 😁
Reliability does not equal mechanical. Electrical reliability is more of a issue these days than mechanical so it being an EV does not increase reliability
gm ultium platform is a great ev base. it should be a solid vehicle
@@VaunShiz you don't know what you're talking about. If an ev has electrical issues, it's a flop. You should know the future is now. EVs are actually simplistic when you break it down. Modern tech has come a long way. Repairs would make fixing an EV a lot easier as you know, few moving parts and all. I would trust a GM ev over a toyota EV any day. GM has been doing Evs longer.
@@ciello___8307ain’t nothing gm a great base.
@@KhoiBoa thats where you’re wrong, bud
Needs quad-motor SH-AWD if it's an Acura.
Right? I figured at least a tri motor system where there's 1 on the front axle and 2 in the rear.
Very nice looking vehicle. Hope they do away with that lower color and if possible REMOVE the Hearse look, I think on the C pillar.
I want this car style with a turbo four in it. There are a few EVs I wish had turbo gas engines. No EV for me.
She's beautiful!!!
I’m like the only one who preferred the old body style
So where I’m going to for maintenance GM or Acura
This thing is beautiful! It would've been perfect with a twin turbo V6!
its an electric vehicle, why would it have a v6 lol
Love the color … good looking SUV
let's get rid of the CCS standard and go with the guy that has promised self driving cars for 10 years, and that NACS will go to 1MW... no wait 650kw, no wait 250kw right now but 650kw coming soon wink wink.
I worry about quality in long run, since it's made from GM, great video
Really like the look and color. I don't like the silver bottom. Make that matching blue 4 me
Honda's been too lazy with electrification. When you have to go to a competitor for help, it's not a good sign.
Well Toyota is lazy too. They had to go to bmw to make the Supra.
Honda is a gasoline engine company more than a car company… thats what they do… thats what they are good at… they are really late to the electrification party sure… and to be honest they kind of lose their edges if they lose their engine superiority…. All in for the Integra Type S or civic type R until its too late
@@jean-sebastienbussieres4849 I don't agree that they are a "gasoline engine company more than a car company". I've dealt with their VCM issues with the 3.5 motor, oil consumption issues with the 3.7 motor and now oil dilution problems with their 1.5T.
Wow! I love the way they brought this back! Can't wait for more range!
325 miles is actually a very competitive range figure! This has more range than cars like the Lyriq, Mercedes EQE, Audi Q8 e-tron, Genesis GV70 Electrified, and Polestar 3.
@@theredline don’t forget the absolutely disgusting rz450e
Even type S has more range than EV6 GT.
Almost got it. They should’ve connected the grille to the light .
Hopefully they got smart & put a heat element in the front logo that houses the camera.
I would get that bottom white area color matched, that 3 tone paint job is too busy for my taste
Collaboration with GM 👀.. okay now I’m starting too believe these car manufacturers are doing on purpose too upset us 😊
this is interesting, 500hp ZDX should knock out the TLX Type S from being the second quickest after the NSX but I hope the GM battery platform could live up to the public's expectations😉
Is this the honda prologue too?
So are we getting GM reliability with this purchase?
The gym interior is like batteries to my tongue
With that black top it reminds me of a hearse.
I love this design, the Acura fine tuning is nice. Unlike in the video, I'll say that the GM buttons and touches are a huge negative for me. Acura should've definitely opted for a few $$ more to differentiate it from GM. I'll have to wait to see in person but it's almost a non-starter for me.
6:43 how would that stand out less in black?
Besides being an EV, it looks beautiful.
Chevy equinox + Honda prologue
Cadillac Lyriq + Acura Zdx
What’s what else can be next?
Nope. Honda Prologue is Chevrolet Blazer EV, same size as this ZDX.
Looks great, I’ll take the one with the most range in that excellent blue
325 miles of range is pretty impressive in a rear wheel drive ZDX A-spec
Double Apex Blue is exclusive to Type-S.
I really like the Lyriq and have considering one but I just can’t picture a Cadillac parked on my driveway. This might be the one.
How much is it currently
From the video the styling is great however I am not giving up my gas powered 22 MDX anytime soon!!. Good price point though esp;ecially with the rebate but not willing to go elctric
Love Acura, never have considered switching up, this is a beautiful beautiful car, buuuuuut the gm collab 🙄🫣
Honda owner my whole adult life. The appeal of Honda is that it is not GM, Ford, Chrysler. A whole different and better approach to car making. What are they thinking? Would not touch that car with a 10ft pole. Car designed to fall apart after 7yrs like all the other GM products. Car being built in a GM factory. I don't want my Acura being built next to Chevys in Detroit. Honda is not is a good way lately. Fallen behind Toyota. They need to get it together and design their own EVs!!!
Would this will smoke tesla Y?
Definitely getting black! But where is the damn RDX Type S! Ughhh I hope this isn’t replacing it
No, this is not replacing the RDX.

@@blackwhirlwind1245 I feel that way at this point
Very good stylish suv
If you screen shot the steering wheel at 11:03, and look up EV Blazer steering wheel, they’re the exact same..
The white/grey running under the doors is really ugly. Definitely takes away from the sleek look and gives off “Subaru” vibes. Hopefully there is an option to color match the body or at least pick a different color upon release.
Good review as always redline! Unfortunately, this car looks ugly from the side profile. the rear side profile looks like a hearse and the interior plastic pieces look cheap. The front and back look much better. The Lyriq looks 100 times nicer on the inside.
I watched this guy when he was a salesman with Honda and he would just make CZcams videos of the new cars on the lot.

This car looks good and I actually wanted to replace my 2022 RDX A-spec Advance with this but as soon as I read that they collaborated with GM my excitement went down the drain, why would Acura team up with a vastly inferior manufacturer is beyond me, oh well gotta look at Tesla(which didn’t want to) or keep scheduling visits at the pump.

no thanks. this is a GM product with an Acura badge, very bizarre. I understand why, but I need a true Honda engineered product

It not only smells like it the interior even looks like a GM. And the door did have a solid sounding thunk. That is a dealbreaker for me.
It won’t do good having connections with GM . The ZDX should have shared the same platform with the passport and made into a coupe style
Handa/Acura will own GM Products one day Making Honda large like Toyota brand in the future
This is a wagon or mpv and not a suv. It looks like a shoe, like a nice sneaker. I wish they made it higher off the ground like the old infinity FX. But overall design looks ok
It has an adjustable air suspension and what you were seeing it in was it’s lowest setting for height.
