  • Diesel prices have gotten to a point where running my trucks is getting to much like everyone is dealing with around the planet. so I've had enough. Now running on vegetable oil and wish I had done it sooner.

Ive been running mine on veggie oil for a while now, built a little filtration system to clean it up a bit and it runs just as good as diesl for a fraction of the price

A little methanol and sodium chloride is all you need to convert it to true biodiesel (with a few bits if kit for heating and decanting) it'll lighten the viscosity and lower the flash point. Lots of info out there (though I'm sure I'm telling you things you're probably already aware of). Keep 'em coming mate

Tbf I didn't now that, I just don't want to go to much effort. If it runs with straight sunflower oil, then I'm just gonna keep pouring it in. Other than winter when I've got to run 50/50

@@ZacksOneOffBuilds It's a pretty easy process and will save you a few sterling in the winter (and summer) even when fuel prices are normal and if you can find a chippy or restaurant that'll do you cheap fryer oil, then you're laughing and your fourtrak will smell like fish and chips when it runs! biggest bonus in my opinion :P

50/50 veg and diesel straight in the tank, i ran mine like that in early 2000s when we had a fuel crisis, still runs fine like that.

My own fourtrak the lift of the fuel pump was weak on the new engine so I threw in an electric pulse pump. Did the same to my combo van which I put the older Isuzu idi into even tho it lifted fuel fine, throwing in the little pulse pump helped it in the mornings starting on the svo. I bought an Audi A6 all road fuel cooler to add to the van too as it passes the fuel and water side by side which should hopefully warm the veg up further to hopefully make it burn better again? My theory anyways

That could be the problem. I might do some testing later and see

@@ZacksOneOffBuilds also I find that everything sticks to the veg dirt wise so filter could be clogged from shite in your tank. Great way of clearing out all the diet in the tank tho
