Chris is happily married with five children. His wife often sings harmony with him on that stage. I’ve asked myself the same question. How does he write such beautiful songs and songs with all these different topics when he is clearly happy. Do you know why? The reason Chris separates himself from the rest of country singers is because it’s not straight country he’s just as great singing the blues! And when you mix two Genres at a very high level it’s bound to be great no matter which two you mix!

Barely Alive live, it's amazing. Also, his live rendition of When A Man Loves A Woman. Soooo good. There are moments in that video where he's not even next to the mic, and it doesn't even matter. I’m barely a country music fan, so I’m listing my favorites from that perspective. Most crossed over onto pop stations when I first heard them. Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson for early renegade country, Home Free for a capella country/everything else (my favorites), Toby Keith for humor, Johnny Cash because he’s Johnny Cash, and Patsy Cline for soulful excellence. My list is short but these are the greats!

He's so humble and effortless too. I saw him live just before Covid and he rarely spoke between songs (some artists do lots of talking for fan fair and to seem cool). He "spoke" once to sing out amazing introductions for each member of his band and once he full blown stopped playing because his guitar was out of tune. His wife looked at him with a smile and he said "well, these people paid good money and they don't want to hear me play a guitar out of tune. Hold on" it was such a normal moment and so amazing

Chris has a great wife, Morgane. He used to only write for others, but she convinced him to sing his own songs, too. She sings with him most of the time. You would not know he was a clean cut, calss President, jock & valedictorian in high school, but his friends said he sang like this, even then!!!

Most people outside of the south think country music is Beverly Hillbilly’s, that’s not country, that’s folk and bluegrass. Country music is what happens when folk gets mixed with blues and R&B, then sometimes they mix in rock or pop
