- In this video, we look at how to add page numbers to your title blocks. At the end of the day, there are still some things that are manual unfortunately but this video does lay out a good way to standardize page numbers.

Thanks for the ideas in this Video, Alan! Helped me a lot. To avoid inserting the "sheet number" and "total sheets" values by opening each sheet and selecting the fields, i recomend having a sheet schedule on the project. This way you can add those two parameters as columns and set the values without opening the sheet. It's way easier to fill them and helps the checking process!
Create a schedule with the twp parameters and change all of them in the schedule and all the sheets will be updated. This is how I handle adding the numbers to all the sheets. Thanks for the how-to.
@10:46 in larger projects, we can use Dynamo, use sheet category--> collect and arrange all sheets, use total sheet count, drag out the two shared parameters, update with the sheet page numbers 1,2,...n and total pages as total sheet count on all sheets at a time

good topic, I ended up categorizing total sheets in "project information". this way this is always the same and I change each sheet number manually
another note, I don't know if this process is correct or not, sometimes I submit another set of sheets within same revit file, so I had to make sheet number and total sheets parameters for Arch set, and another set of parameters for other type of filings like plumbing or mech sets.
It got a little tricky because I was either going to have different title blocks for each type of filing or just use visibility parameters, showing one of the other.
Also I had to schedule this on my drawings lists.
parameter names are like total sheets PL, or total sheets mech, total sheets Arch, all showing up in project information
That is an interesting way to go about it! I like it if you want to show total sheets. Project information makes sense.
Used this for a quick fix on a very small project. I saw the comment about categorizing total sheets as "project information" and going to see if that helps to prevent editing every sheet.
That would be a good start. I would say either way, this should only be used on smaller projects like you said.

I followed the same steps you used for setting up the parameters in my title box family, and after loading it into my project file: I loaded "page number" the same but for the "page total" parameter; I changed the Category to "Project information" and group to "text" ....this means when you change the "Page total" on one sheet it updates across all the sheets.

Hi,
I’m a young REVIT user. And I have a problem. I don’t know if you can help me but it’s worth a shot.
I loaded a detail item, specifically a concrete masonry unit [CMU core section]. But I only loaded the 8” x 8” x 16” type. I would like to load all the other sizes also but it’s not letting me load them.
How can I reload this detail item so I can get back to the page where I select more sizes?
Ideally, there would be a separate box that would pop up and allow you to pick different types to load in. I know structural elements does this. It might be that there is only one type of detail that Revit is loading in that one. You can also find the files in explorer and drag them all into revit. This will open them all and allow you to easily clock load into project.

I am sorry, but I was really hoping for a more automated approach to this. I am not doing this for the projects I work on that have anything over 10 sheets.
Ahh makes sense. Unfortunately it would take more scripting to make this more of an automatic process. I feel that would save the most time would be to input them in manually given there are less than 10 sheets.
All of this because the Autodesk guys in their infinite wisdom have not implemented this basic function, bunch of other cad programs have it, but not revit.
There is too much talk and insights in this video. Didn't realize you are even suggesting a more complicated approach to the problem
This is just one option, there is not a "great" solution. Like other things, in Revit, there are 100 possibilities.
