100% correct, Mythos. The difference you highlighted is spot on. A "ghost hunter" always gave me the idea of someone with a suitcase of pointless equipment that buzzed, beeped of spat out random nonsense, and "caught" something regardless of the truth. A Paranormal Investigator, did what the name suggests, investigated the circumstances around them, to determine whether it was "normal" or not. I've always likened the latter to a police investigator. Find the facts, rule out the nonsense.

I also agree on this as well. I'm a paranormal and UFO enthusiast (not an investigator) who has studied these subjects for almost 40 years, I also check and recheck the facts concerning cases. I don't take everything I'm being told or shown at face value.
I have learnt over the years to "think outside the box", because there are times that you can figure out if a case is genuine or fake. A classic example is the video that Mythos Paranormal did about the "girl in the fire", (Vintage UK GHOST PHOTO Was FAKE // DEBUNKED) that postcard had the same girl on it. so it's definitely a fake.
This something I have been saying for a while. Ghost Hunters are for the fun and entertainment. Paranormal Investigators are in it for the actual research of the paranormal.
This needs to be seen by everyone that follows certain channels that won't be named! This is such a great explanation!!! Thank you!👻
Their fanbase's are so rabid that it wouldn't make any difference unfortunately. They'll never accept their beloved team is fake unless the team admits it themselves.

I’ve thought about the Conjuring House and whether they’ve wired that place up with radios, jammers (Sam and Colby had their radios stop working in one episode), knocking devices etc. It’s a fact that they have cameras all over that house (you can see them in videos). Theoretically the workers could be watching and listening to everything going on by guests and triggering devices that affect ghost hunting tools or make sounds. I’d be curious to have a camera on the workers who stay in the office area while guests are around to see what they are doing during visits. It could all be done remotely too, of course. I’ve watched several investigations of that house and it appears that the workers are there the whole time in a separate area of the house. They also make content creators sign an agreement that the owners have to approve content the visitors make at the house before publishing. They make so much money from people come there to “investigate” and stay the night. There is a lot of incentive for them to give people spooky experiences there to keep more people coming.
IMO with it being such an old house they'd probably need to do extensive remodeling to rewire the place and rig some gizmos in the walls and ceiling and floor. That would be a tip-off in itself.
Not to pick on Mackie and Amanda but if you ever read the comments in their videos, their fans would follow them what ever they do, going to the zoo, beach, hanging out in the kitchen etc. They could stop ghost hunting all together and they wouldn't lose most of their views. Seems to be a lot of failed musicians, dancers, actors etc that turn to paranormal channels because they know they will get views.
Hammer, Nail, head mate. I honestly think those "Ghost Hunting" channels would benefit if they declared from the get go that it is purely entertainment. Just think what Mindseed TV could do, they could finally wheel out Tanner in a bed sheet and claim to have finally seen a ghostie. The production and editing would be immense. I for one would start watching them again.

THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS!!!!! See, we are real paranormalists that have actual spiritual ability being clairesentients , and that makes us who we are - genuine investigators. These other channels that walk around with cameras and just hope for something to happen are just purely "explorers"/ ghost hunters.
I agree with everything here. These are the same sentiments that I’ve been saying for ages. I honestly didn’t know so many people didn’t know the difference. Even though I know it bothers most of the truth seekers like us that Ghost hunters are not real, that’s what is entertaining. That is what the general population wants. I whole heartedly believe that real investigations can be entertaining as well as real. But that takes more effort than ghost hunting or real investigations alone. It becomes more time consuming for research. Editing etc. it can be done though. The investigation into history etc can be the engaging part. If done correctly. No need for embellishment, over reacting or faking. But it does take a lot more effort.
This is my opinion: Calling oneself a paranormal investigator is not really correct in many cases since the term paranormal investigator covers a huge area of investigating many different types of paranormal phenomena (like ESP, telekinesis, ghosts, spirits, poltergeists, reincarnation, faith healing, etc). Most people that call themselves paranormal investigators, especially on CZcams, are in fact only investigating a small proportion of the paranormal field and are just looking for ghosts or spirit communication and therefore should just call themselves ghost hunters, unless they also investigate all of the other paranormal phenomena along with ghosts. Labelling ghost hunters as the fake 1's is not fair on the real ghost hunters that go to places literally to hunt for ghosts. The same as labelling people as real if they call themselves a paranormal investigator, they could still be faking, for example, telekinesis or faith healing.

100% correct. As an investigator? There truly are nights you can nap, and it can be rather uninteresting. Now, when something does happen? You get up and run to figure things out.
Yes! When I want to be entertained I watch a ghost-hunting video, when I want to watch real paranormal investigators I watch all the real investigators I'm subbed to. There is a big difference and the ones that go to investigate usually also debunk things they heard and could have been paranormal. I've noticed the real paranormal investigators' subs grow very slowly and the entertaining 'ghost-hunting' videos that are full of excitement subs grow very quickly. Cheers from Australia.
Agree with you! Also, paranormal isn't about ghosts. It can be about a bigfoot, UFOs, etc.
We do upload videos, but we don't upload every single investigation. Some of our investigations were pretty quiet, like nothing happened, so we don't make videos about them.
We just upload the interesting and fun ones haha.

Yes. Got me at the start. Drives me crazy when they run away screaming. They were looking for “evidence” but turn away when anything close to that presents itself.
I am not a believer in the paranormal. There’s not been enough evidence which could be studied to even make any claims. That being said, that doesn’t mean there isn’t any paranormal activities.

Yes! I like to watch both 1 for a laugh and the other for information. Now it is getting annoying to have to watch a bunch of videos to find out which is which. I'd still watch both if they put the real info in the front in big letters. :)

It would be much better if the fakers would just be up front and say ENTERTAINMENT ‼️ people who watch to have the jump scare experience would still watch them and I think this would help to make a better community for everyone. 🥰💙🌹

Totally agree with you. Oddly enough I"m now finding it fascinating watching real paranormal investigators, always hoping to see real evidence. Debunkers have taught me so much and to be a more critiical thinker.

The thing is that, at this point for certain channels putting the "entertainment purposes" disclaimer would be equivalent to say "We have been lying to you" and as we have learned people, specially in CZcams and specially some "content creators" have a really bad time admitting wrong. They just can't do it.

I totally agree, that's why I like once again a CZcams channel called Haunted Nights, they get into the history of the place they go in and they actually investigate further through estess methods, being polite and describing the tools they have. They tell the spirits what they're working with and its functions (spirit boxes, Alice bo, k2 meter, etc) they are polite while asking and encourage spirits to respond. While being polite, you'll hear loads more knocks, distance voices and taps....there's no one around. What I hated about ghost hunters and bigger groups are they add spooky music in the background and you can't hear a thing. Anyways, again. Check them out on CZcams.
There's also paranormal files on CZcams, they do a bell method. The spirit dings the bell once for yes and twice for no. They put the bell in the center of the floor so you know they're not messing with it. Give them a watch

It's quite easy: the bro-duding guys who almost die in every episode, get scratched, find demons and skinwalkers everywhere and get a paranormal activity every two minutes and are freaked out by every little cough, these are the Ghost Hunters. And these are all fake. The Investigators are these guys who upload videos where most of the time nothing at all happens, and if something happens they go and try to find a rational explanation before shouting out "Ghosts". I have big respect for these guys because they spend so much time for mostly no results. Good video for pointing this out; if more people understood this difference, the real investigators would not have such a bad reputation.
It's not "morally wrong" watching ghost hunting channels, as long as you know that what you are watching is nothing more than a movie; the content creators could be honest and still be successful, like Tim Morozov does, he does creepy content without lying to people that it's 100% real. And on the other side: a real investigation channel can be very successful like the Ouija Brothers, so there is no dire need for faking stuff. Staying real is the hard way, but the fast and eays way leads to the Dark Side. 😁

I recently saw one with Alexa and Brent Rivera at the Whaley House. Amanda the Medium randomly showed up as a guest guide. They were so loud, cringey, and annoying, even Amanda looked uncomfortable 😆

You should look into Moe Sargi, he claims alot of stuff that just seeming to be made up by him. I just want to see if what I'm seeing from him is real or fake. Great video. Used to not be a difference between ghost hunter and paranormal investigator. Back in my day lol, paranormal investigator, and ghost hunter were interchangeable.
Being honest, although I’m sure some maybe upset or disagree with what I’m about to say. It is really hard to do a proper investigation at locations when we have limited time. A proper paranormal investigation is not spending a couple of hours at a place and then moving onto the next Place.
I can only speak for my channel. I don’t wanna drag any other channels into this. When Dawn and I investigate, we do try to investigate and figure out what’s going on (the claims). At the same time, we don’t have the time like others who are legit to properly investigate all the claims.
As I’ve mentioned before, and will continue to do so, transparency is extremely important. I encourage everyone who’s out there who is legit to live review whether it be public or members all of the footage so everyone can see the entire context of the investigation.
Totally get you dude, I was actually looking at a place today thinking about booking it and they offer the place for 5 hours and I was thinking daymn what can I do in 5 hours!? That will absolutely fly by lol. So yeah definitely can't properly investigate there unless I guess if you keep revisiting

That's what irks me about a lot of the CZcams paranormal channels if they were honest about it and putting out the same senasationalized and staged videos they'd still have a majority of their audience.
If people find them entertaining who is anyone else to judge however when they claim it's real and legitimate it causes real harm in that there are people who for various reasons desperately want their beliefs validated and watch these channels fully believing that it validates their belief when in reality the evidence is being faked...
It's like a gypsy selling a potion that gives the drinker good luck it's not the people who buy the potion as a gag gift that are harmed by it, it's the people who have false hope and buy it because they believe the claim.
Looking for real evidence of paranormal even if you catch on camera its still about personal experiences an most people wont believe what they see themselves..ive had experiences i cant explain 👻ill always look for the real paranormal an thanks mythos have a graat one

It makes sense that people can't tell the difference because all the tv shows acted like they were real without providing any disclaimer, and we can have been watching those for years.

This kind of begs the question…is it possible (especially for CZcamsrs) to occupy some kind of middle ground? Where they investigate claims in a routine manner, aren’t overly hyped, certainly aren’t manufacturing evidence, but try their hardest to keep their content entertaining?

I mean we try to do that. I think we are getting way more into the deep dive of the real history of the places. We did this for some but didn’t show much of the deep dive. We do want to make the content highly engaging. So Editing becomes tricky at boring spots. But we are definitely working on some very exciting projects.

My hubby and I consider ourselves Paranomal Investigors not Ghost hunters. I'm not a fan when someone calls us Ghost hunters because the conotation is that we are not serious and just looking for a fun time with lots of drama real or not. We DO have a bunch of equipment but we use it when we feel like something about it can help our investigation not just for drama. Sometimes it's just us sitting and listening....that's it....just listening. If we hear something we go look to see where it came from and what it may have been caused by. If you run when you hear a sound you are a Ghost Hunter, if you INVESTIGATE you are an investigator, pretty simple but many don't seem to get it. Unfortunately I know a lot of people who think it's like what they see on tv and youtube and it either facinates them for all the wrong reasons or they are terrified thinking everything is a demon or something else waiting to hurt them.
I get you lol almost like an insult if someone calls you that because it's associated with some certain channels 😅 but nah I like some equipment too, nothing wrong with that at all I say, as long as you're not like those lot who just abuse it or fake it lol

I will have to disagree with you on this one. Ghost Hunters are those that seek out ghosts and other things to trap, catch, remove and/or destroy said entities. Grouping those entertainers with Ghost Hunters is so wrong. They should be called what they really are, Paranormal Entertainers.

The true and real paranormal/ghost hunting CZcams channel remain less view, like my channel. I guess most of the people like watching fake/staged dramatic video as entertainment than real boring real paranormal/ghost hunting video.
I agree that there’s a difference, but I used to watch ghost hunters, and your videos on how the equipment works has ruined (at least for me) the suspense in the ghost hunting videos, they do benefit from it seeming real. I agree that it’s scummy, but they won’t change that because it seeming real benefits them
Ghost hunters are out for fun, scares and personal experiences.
Paranormal Investigators - INVESTIGATE so lets look at the ACTUAL definition of word....... Investigate - 'To carry out a systematic or formal inquiry to discover and examine the FACTS of an incident, allegation etc so to establish the TRUTH'. They are interested in data as opposed to finding evidence. They have processes and procedures that are followed for everything and controls are put in place where ever humanly possible when it comes to field work. They examine the whole gambit of the paranormal as opposed to only ghosts and hauntings. Everything is viewed from a neutral point as opposed to everything being paranormal. They always strive to be self aware regarding confirmation bias. And THAT is the very basics of the differences between a Ghost Hunter and a Paranormal Investigator.
no difference, except in the degree of self delusion. both fakes or frauds or grifters. I saw an ad from a "paranormal investigator" selling an "EM Detector" which was an ordinary radio. Because that's what radios do, detect EM radiation.
