My name is Rachel Strickland and I am a full-time reseller reselling online on ebay, posmark and mercari. My passion for thrifting and treasure hunting has enabled me to quit my job and become an ebay reseller full time. I am so excited to be self-employed that I want to show YOU how to quit your job and start reselling too! Selling on ebay and making money on ebay is something ANYONE can do. It's a great side hustle as a part-time reseller or a phenomenal full-time income you can work from home. My desire is to share and teach you HOW TO BE A RESELLER. I fill my videos with ebay tips and tricks to help you learn how to sell on ebay.
Mainly I source and buy my reselling inventory at thrift stores because I simply love to thrift, take you guys along on a thrift vlog and film and showcase thrift hauls full of vintage and designer goods. I shop goodwill, salvation army, small town thrifts, the Goodwill bins ( Goodwill outlet) and more.
When I am not thrifting, I love to shop yardsales and ensure you know a good BOLO when you see one and what to buy at yard sales.
I also source at auctions including online auctions, estate auctions, and live auction houses always showcasing my auction haul and auction scores with you guys. I take auction go pro style first-person videos.
Even more than showing you guys my hauls, I love to educate and show you what sold and why so that you can learn how to source as a reseller as well.

Thank-you so much for the information! I had a FAKE Dooney & Bourke in my store but was able to determine that it was a fake with the information you provided. So grateful for resellers that are willing to share their knowledge. "Show Me" a fellow Missourian
Yay! I'm in the bootheel! Where abouts are you?
I completely agree with you on why a fake is a bad thing and why you should stay away from them. Great job 👍
Your integrity is off the charts madam. Honestly, some days I feel like I’m the only person around who believes in always doing the right thing, every time. I applaud you for taking the initiative to destroy these fakes.
I knew the authentic Dooney from the intro. I was around when they were new; they were the only designer bags in my budget in the 80s - 90s. But I learned so much in this tutorial. I hadn’t thought about the repercussions of someone unwittingly buying a fake, selling it, and losing their account because of it. You’re an asset to us resellers. 🙏🏻
PS Aren’t the little Craftsman pocket cutters awesome!? I give them out to friends and family, and have them all over the house & one in my purse (next to my tiny tape measure) for using “in the wild.”
@@brendatomlinsonI'm ordering one now!😅
I loved watching you cut that bag apart, that knife is SHARP ! Great video. Thanks.
Thank you, Rachel! The vintage fakes are easier for me to discern between than the more modern ones. I’m interested in a video about how D&B manufacturing and quality has changed vs how it has stayed consistent from its beginning til now. I have a couple of bags that have the inside blue and white label with serial number but seem to be poor quality compared to their vintage bags. This has given me enough doubt that I haven’t listed them.
I have a Dooneyi bought in 1994 and it’s still in excellent shape. It’s fun to see the difference with an old fake. These I can tell pretty easy since I have one. Mine has a metal zipper but my BFF bought one at Dillard’s the same year and hers was plastic. Both authentic.
That is very odd. I wonder if it was gifted to her in a Dillard's box.
I recently picked up a Dooney and Burke and was suggested this video. My bag has all the signs of real and I got it for $2!
Wow!! This is such an eye opener!! Thank you for this video. Who knew JUST how horrible the fakes really are. 😮
Thank you so much for this video. It teaches me what to look for and how to examine a designer purse. I don't normally buy designer purses but when I see on in the wild, I will at least know what to look for. Love you and your channel.
Great video!! Im a Dooney collector and on first glance it totally looked real. Sssssooo fake!! I agree about not keeping fake bags. It supports an illegal trade. I have no issue with bags that are similar style, but draw the line when they are trying to fool someone into thinking it is the real designer bag. TFS
Thank you for watching! I agree, inspired styles are one thing but fakes are not.
New sub, I am so happy you destroyed the bag, I have unknowing bought fakes, and it's is so disappointing to find out , I adore vintage dooney so I really enjoyed the video
I appreciate you so much!
What a great video! I see lots of D&B's in the thrift stores and, as a person who loves and buys them from the D&B outlet, it is great to be able to tell them apart. Thanks so much!
Thank you for taking the time for showing us the quality differences between authentic and fake ones. So helpful!
Very informative I love learning how to spot the fakes. How you dissected that purse was very entertaining. Thanks for the education.
Thank you Rachel! I learned so much from this tutorial. My designer bag knowledge is very limited, so I very much appreciate this :)
Great video Rachel! Thanks for sharing ❤
Very informative. Thank you Rachel!
I learned do much. Thank you for this excellent, very watchable, well-paced and detailed video. You are an excellent communicator.
Thank you for the tutorial! So helpful💖!
This is GREAT Rachel! Thank you! ❤
tysm for this video, i thoroughly enjoyed it. also, i agree with you! having the fake go into your burn pile is a brilliant idea!
Great information! Enjoy all your videos and learning tons!
I appreciate you!
Hi Rachel. Love your video. The first so called Dooney and Bourke purse I purchased, was from a secondhand store, and it turned out to be fake. I carried it for over two years before a friend of mine told me that it was a knockoff. The only reason she knew was that it was faux leather. Since then, I've dedicated myself on how to tell the difference between genuine and fake. Your video is doing such a great service for people. Thank you. -- There is one thing that I've noticed on many fakes that I've seen, that I'd like to share with you. (Your video stalled at one point, and I jumps ahead a little bit, so please ignore this tip if you did point it out. ). On the leather Duck Seal sewn onto the front of the purse, at the top of it are the words DOONEY & BOURKE. The upper right side of the & symbol's loop, isn't completely closed.on genuine D&B vintage purses. There is a slight gap, and doesn't touch the bottom half. But on many of the fake vintage bags, the upper loop is completely closed. Anyway, thought I'd mention it. I look forward to watching more of your informative videos. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Thank you so much for the detailed information. Great info
I have been using Dooney for as long as they existed. You have tore up real ones.
The one I ripped apart is very fake.
So full of information!!! thank Rachel. Are you saving these into an authentication playlist to make it super quick for people to find again later?
Yes theres a playlist! I can't wait to do some more as well
I am SO THANKFUL I found YOU & YOUR tutorial!! I’m an online seller and I have this exact bag upstairs unlisted, THANK GOODNESS!! I’m a Dooney Freak and thought I had educated myself on brand….APPARENTLY NOT!!! Thank you! I’m going to SUBSCRIBE NOW ❤️
Great comparison showing.
I bought a beautiful Dooney and Bourke bucket purse about 20 years ago from Macys. It came with the dust bag and a Registration card that I mailed into Dooney and Bourke. After 3 years the all the so called brass hardware turned silver color, some half brass color half silver color, I put it away and never used the purse again and I would never buy another one. I know my purse was Authentic
Do you keep your bags in the dust bags for now ? For me . I have no idea how to keep the bags kislux . And I love every look of the bags! They are very sleek and I love the color.
It was most interesting to see the fake purse disassembled!
I have a video of this with louis vuitton too and one with a fake louboutin. Oh and a fake coach one!
@@RachelStrickland Cool! I'll check them out.
They were made in the US. There is a number on the back. I bought two All Weather Leather this year.
Thank you for the video!
I have at least 30 Dooney bags. I have 60 bags. I t is the second group of All Weather Leather.
Great info thanks so much
So satisfying.
Thank you so much!
I love learning the difference between real and fake handbags. I want to be sure that I’m purchasing a real one and not a fake. 😀 Thank you for opening our eyes and expanding our knowledge on vintage handbags!🫶🏻
Used to find them all the time 25 years ago where the duck patch on the front was just glued on and I could just stick my finger nail under it and it would just pop off
guessing before I watch - the lighter brown one is the real one. in your left hand!
This is my first vid of urs ive watched & gitta say something about you & ur vids caught my eyes. i truly like u. Then i read what all u do ,then it all starts making sense... Your my clone..😮...Lol😊 😂 Everything you talked about doing, is what i should be doing😊 we have the same passions in life. Ur just stronger then me & doing wut u luv. I luv that in u.
Well u have gained u a new team member and I'm so glad i ran acrossed you 😉✌️
Practice doing a video with a friend or family member and see how it is. Everyone has to practice practice practice practice practice practice to get it down like she has now
Great video! Thanks for posting. (I do feel bad that they are destroyed though). Some people have nothing., and could really use a nice "fake" looking bag. Like maybe take a PERMANENT marker and write fake all over inside and underneath? I just hate seeing things being wasted. I know it sounds stupid, but I feel for those than can hardly even afford a regular cheap handbag that falls apart after a few months. JMHO. Thanks again Rachel!
Hi! Im new on your channel and this is the first video I watched. I must say that it is very informative and helpful. I'm starting my own collection of vintage dooney and bourke bags. I have this bag I purchased online but I cant find the design's name anywhere on the internet. Is it possible for you to look at it and check if it's authentic?
All you have to do is take a picture of the name(or copy the text) and Google will search for you.
I just bought an all weather dooney from eBay ,,, it’s a good dupe but because of your video I know it has to b a fake. It does not have a cloth dooney tag with a number on it.
You can return it. If the seller refuses, you can return it as "item not as described" it is automatically approved
Hey Rachel. Do all Dooney and Bourke bags have a lanyard in them?
Hmmmm... no I don't believe so. I'm almost certain I have a vintage one or two that do not
17:37 Hi! It was very interesting watching you compare the real with the fake. I just bought one on Poshmark and am having some doubts about the authenticity of it.
Do all D&Bs have the duck on them? Mine has no ducks anywhere. I have other concerns also.
ive always loved this bag, so i must purchased the 1980s original in the ivory color. which someone said was rare, dont really care. its my "new' work bag.
If you order directly from Dooney and Bourke website and you receive a Florentine leather bag and the green suede is a different green than my other Florentine bag (same satchel, just different sizes). Also on the latest Florentine satchel, the duck's bill was touching the belly and when compared to my other DB I didn't see this, but a small gap between the bill and the stomach. Do you think I have a fake? I felt if I was ordering directly from DB site I would NOT be getting a fake bag.
Yes i did learn something. Though i must admit i need to replay it. I have a quik question.... are the D&B bags at the outlet real or not?.
If it's an official dooney & Bourke outlet, they are real. However, some products are made for the outlet and lesser quality. Others are simply overstock.
@@RachelStrickland oh ok thank u. I wanted to know. I was given a % off during my bday month. I wanted to be sure. Thanks again...blessings to u....
Dooney had a factory in Mexico too
Спасибо 🧡🧡🧡
my wife told me stome stuff about the handle or strap.. But i still dont get it lol
How can I authenticate numbers ? (I’m fairly sure that several Dooneys I have are knock- offs ) but the tags look “good “
Also, demo how you clean handbags .
I have this bag in black on black.
Do you happen to know the name of that bag?
What do you think about resellers promoting sites that produce copycat bags, the details are insanely good on them. At the end of the day I’m like it’s a fake, how are those sites even allowed to do that.
Kitlife was the site.
I love your name! Very unique and descriptive.
@@brendatomlinson awe, thank you so much.
It's not just resellers promoting those sites. I couldn't believe the details the fakes had gone to including the packaging.
Can I send you a picture of my Dooney and Bourke hand bag and could you let me know if it is authentic or not?
I wouldn't burn it if it's plastic cuz it will smolder and stink.
Should thrift be held accountable for selling fakes and marking prices as authentic?
Yes but they never are.
Patina is what happens to leather when it ages
Can you tell me if my bag is real?
I could try. You can send me pics on IG
And the serial number isn't hand written. I saw someone trying to sell a dooney on market place... hand written serial number lol
Second one is real that bag has a canvas lining. Brass will get dirty.
Looked like bag on left on my left I mean I guessed is real one
I would go guessed left fake
DOONEY AND BOURKE
Always red inside of real DB
What do you mean?the lining? The tag?
The inside of my DB is Red. This might not be true for all DB bags.
However, some individuals can't afford the real thing. I see nothing wrong with purchasing a dupe. I would rather have a Fat Bank Account than an empty handbag 👜 🙃 any day
I have real bags and a healthy bank account. Fakes fund a lot of disgusting things like human trafficking and child abuse in the form of child labor. I made an entire video about this, if you want to find out more. I understand some people just don't understand and are ill informed.. By all means, owning a luxury bag is not a necessity. If you cannot buy a dooney Bourke, louis vuitton or gucci, you don't have to. It says nothing about a person to own one or not own one. In fact, I dare say it should be the least interesting thing about you. Funding drug cartles and child labor, however, says a lot about a person. Buying counterfeits funds those organizations. Doing so out of ignorance is one thing. But now you know.
I have many Dooneys and some have other interior colors. One recently purchased western messenger has a blue bandana interior.
Yikes - watch your fingers!
Edge kote
That's good stuff. I need to get some
If Dooney has outsourced their manufacturing to China. China has horrible quality control. They deliberately use cheaper materials. Therefore, this bag could have been requisitioned by Dooney and sold as a Dooney, and be an "Authentic" Dooney, but China's quality is awful. This goes with many products such as furniture, Instruments (The Selmer Company) and other companies have done this with equally bad results. The bad thing for consumers, is that we get the cheep product and the companies gain the same profit off the backs of child and slave labor.
