  • It's an absolute honour to have Padma Shri & National Award Winning Singer & Composer Shubha Mudgal Ji on The Extraordinary Podcast!
Shubha Ji with her distinct voice and magnetic personality, has been a huge force in the Indian music space for over three decades now. Whether it is her renditions of different genres of Classical Music such as the khayal, thumri and dadra, or lighter forms of music, bhajans or even Indi pop, listeners, both old and young, have always cherished her music.
In our conversation today, we spoke to Shubha Ji about her initial journey as an outsider, stories behind some of her most iconic hits like “Ab Ke Sawan” and “Ali More Angana”, her take on some of the most pertinent issues facing Indian Classical Music today and the struggles associated with having such a unique, unconventional voice. In the end, she also sang for us some of the most beautiful lines written by the likes of Sahir Ludhyanvi, Dushyant Kumar and Sant Kabir.

Such unconventional, crisp and thought provoking questions! Kudos to the both of you for doing a great homework before this interaction - the study was definitely visible! And, that exactly made this one so enjoyable. Best wishes, look forward to more.
