- A successful design center appointment. We designed our dream home in 1 hour.
Welcome back to our channel, Marsh Forever. Erik and I reserved our lot back in April and now we are headed to the design center to design our dream home.
Our builder requires us to do all the designing and custom request to be finalized before they start the building process so they can stick to their timeline. They provided us with a thumb drive, which had all of the selections and a corresponding 45 day price sheet. This gave us ample time to decide on the things that we wanted.
A week prior to this appointment, we had a virtual design center consultation and we went over all of our choices. We were able to see more in depth pictures and our consultant also offered her expertise. There were a few selections that they did not have pictures of.
During our physical design center appointment, we were able to see some of our selections in person and also make some changes based on other homes we’ve seen in our neighborhood.
Overall, we had a wonderful experience and I actually preferred to have a virtual appointment where most of the heavy work was done and then have a physical appointment to finalize all of our options. It gave us time to budget and come in with realistic goals. If you have any questions about the home buying or building process please leave comment below. Would love to see the questions you prepared to raise while at the design center
Absolutely! Most of them were kind of specific because they were follow up questions from our virtual browse appt. We also were given a price sheet and a flash drive with pictures of most of the design options as well which was very helpful.
Questions:
Cost of two tone counters/island?
Samples of Snow White/Blanco Maple (Quartz)?
Can we make the countertops flat & eliminate the countertop backsplash for future backsplash? They usually put about 2 inches of the countertop you choose on the wall where the backsplash would go but we didn't want that so that when we get backsplash later down the line we can have it go all the way down.
What color are the light bulbs (daylight or bright white)?
Can we see mid century/weathered (flooring options)?
What are the grout color options?
Were our custom countertops approved? If so, price?
Should we get standard padding since carpet will only be in the bedrooms?
I also made a little chart to make sure we covered the final shower & floor tile, grout colors, counters, sink type and cabinets for the bathrooms.
So many options!! Can’t wait to see it all come together 🤗
