Finally my mom and I can do something really together!
She will be happy, cause we never found something 100% wheelchair friendly. Thank you Adrienne :)
Yay! Let me know how it goes! xoxo
I thought the same thing! I've been doing Yoga with Adriene for years now, and always wanted to get my mom on board, but she has limited mobility. I'm SO happy to share this with her! Thank you, lovely Adriene! Good luck to all!
Incredible!
Yay!
Yoga With Adriene Nederlands?
Recently severely injured my left knee and gutted I couldn't Yoga now. Then I thought... Adriene must have something for this. Here I am, back to Yoga, thank you!
same to me for my right knee
Same to me too 🥰
Yeah me too...
i'm exactly the same right now
Hi Adrienne thank you for providing this video. I severely injured my right knee after falling at the beach. I am absolutely gutted that I couldn't do yoga anymore due to my bad knee but thanks to you I can exercise so I am eternally grateful for this video. Please keep more videos like this coming.
Hello Adriane, can you do something else for people in wheelchar, love this.
I practice tai chi. (T4 para).
@@spinalman33 can you send me the link
Sounds interesting, can u send me the link?
I am disabled with two artificial legs and wanted to try some yoga. Came across your channel and am now practising it every day. You have a calm and loving voice I can trust, and I love your dog. Thank you so much! xx
Does she have more videos? Recently became a left leg amputee.
Hi Adriene, I just wanna say thank you so much for this beautiful practice. This day last year I had a terrible car accident and was unable to walk for two months. I used a wheelchair and I never thought I would do yoga again. Now I'm thankfully fully recovered and working on inversions ! I was so surprised to see you did this wheelchair yoga practice today of all days. It really helped me reflect on my recovery this whole year and I can't thank you enough. Sending lots of light to you.
Congratulations on your recovery. Sending love & light for continued health your way!
Thank you so much. Send you light to you.
I could cry. My mother is disabled and this will facilitate us to finally able to practice yoga together. Bless you, Adriene.
And this is why you are an awesome human. Everyone should be able to embrace and enjoy yoga :)
I was going to write your exact words lol I swear XD
My friend and I just did a simplified version of this together. She’s 99.5 years old and said it was good! 👍
Namaste. Been paralyzed since 1986 and I’ve only started this new journey of a healthier me. Thank you.
Blessed Beloved Beauties! Refresh Day-28 is great for people who work in an office space. I am heading to my virtual job from my home office soon. I am thrilled my shoulders are lubricated after this practice. Now it's time to meditate!🧘🏾♀️ Namaste and Ase! 🦋❤🦋
So I know the video is like 5 years old now, but I've just found you and your lessons and wanted to thank you for it. I am a newbie yogi, who often requires a wheelchair, so to still be able to follow your lessons regardless of my health is wonderful.
did this practice with my 79 year old nan today! she's not in a wheelchair but her mobility is limited. She said, "I like her! she doesn't make you feel stupid if you can't do something!" thank you for making something we can do together, and for giving her some time to stretch and breathe
One I have never done! Short but exactly what I needed.
Refresh day 28. 571 days in a row.
Thank you! I’ve been doing yoga with you now for 2+ years and recently broke my big left toe. I’m in a boot for TWO months and was feeling really depressed about not walking much or doing yoga, then I remember seeing chair yoga with you, and I realized I can still stay connected to my practice despite this injury. Hooray! Not gonna lie that months of no down dog is going to be hard for me, but Thanks for reminding me of what I still can do. Grateful in CA. Xoxo
This is awesome! I'm disabled but don't use a wheelchair, and this is a great easy practice. I know you get a million suggestions, but another thing that would be more accessible would be practices that were either all floor or all standing. One of the hardest things for me in yoga is having to constantly go from the floor to standing and vice versa. Thanks!
Thank you for doing this for people in wheelchairs. I have been a paraplegic for 52 years - T8 spinal cord injury when I was 20. I have depended on swimming for most of those years to keep me limber and healthy. But the pool has been closed during the Pandemic. I have been doing yoga with you for the last two weeks and feel like it has helped me stretch and breathe deeper, feel peaceful inside, as well as other things that I'm probably not aware of. I'm grateful to you!
I have started my 30 days of yoga and today my wife did her first wheelchair yoga. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Adrienne! I hope you can do a series for wheelchair bound people. You really are the best!!
Hi Bill! Check out our Seated Yoga Playlist - czcams.com/play/PLui6Eyny-Uzwadfy44g9nYlDcTt8IB-3T.html . xo
Thank you so much! I have been in a wheelchair for 35 years and this has really helped with my chronic pain!
I'm not in a wheelchair but what an amazing video! I love how inclusive you are ❤
Yes!
Tonight I celebrate 4 years practicing with Adriene, never missing a day. Thank you Adriene 🧘🏼♀️
Refresh Day 28
Through YWA I have found a new appreciation for my body 💕
Seems my gratitude for this diverse community & acceptance for each of our abilities grows daily 🙏
I'm in a wheelchair, and I find this yoga routine helps relax my shoulders, traps, and other upper body stuff. I LOVE it! Thank you times a million!!! I've started doing it every day.
Benji brings such joy in your videos. 🤍
I've been following the April '22 calendar verbatim- and it's been eerie, how often the daily practice provides what I didn't realize I needed. Today I'm sick w/ a low fever... thought I would have to break my months-long yoga streak- then saw this brief, accessible yoga practice on my calendar, and felt humbled and grateful. Felt like I was actually helping my recovery, rather than stubbornly pushing through something that would elongate it. Thank you!
Just did this with my 94 year old Mother. Thank you for all that you do.
Yay! My husband and I do yoga together and love your videos. He uses a wheelchair and will be so stoked you did this video!!!!!!!! You're amazing!
Perfect!
All these comments from people who were helped by this video are so heartwarming. I don't use a wheelchair, but I'm glad this exists for those who do (or if I ever do). And what a wonderful reminder for all of us that the shapes are just one set of tools for the physical and mental practice.
Thank you so much for this! I am recovering from a broken leg and this is perfect for my recovery. Love these chair practices!
Thank you for making this. In a traffic accident, my legs were injured and right arm and side body stiffened. This helps widen the right body and arm movement range without putting a strain on the legs.
It's really cool that you thought to do a yoga video for people in wheelchairs. Yet another reason you're my favorite yogi!
Thanks Adriene. Just did this with my 75 year old grandma and she was surprised how much she liked it! I book marked it for her to do again :)
Refresh day 28- this was a lovely practice. I thought it might not be the best practice for me since I'm not in a wheelchair but I was wrong. This was a good way to start out the day.
#ywaembrace day 5: I'm glad this video was part of the calendar. It gives me perspective on how important it is to make tools accessible to everyone. We all may need the same thing, but the path to achieve it may be different. Thanks Adriene for listening to the community and providing these tools.
Thank you for the wheelchair and chair yoga. Just working on walking again and these 2 sessions help start my day.
I am recovering from surgery and needed a real gentle yoga practice. This wheelchair yoga practice hit the spot!
Could we please have some more similar practices for all the wheelchair users out there, as well all the people convalescing.
Thank you Adriene
A non-weight-bearing foot fracture has had me missing my yoga practice. The wheelchair yoga video was a blessing from the Universe. Thank you for sending it at the perfect time.
Hi ☺️ I’m a quadriplegic C4 C5 C6! My injury came from a diving accident 2 years ago. I was only able to move my eyes! I’m doing much better now.
I recently started making videos to help motivate those like me! Please consider checking out my channel! Thank you 🙏 god bless!!!
Facing non-weight-bearing surgery beginning next week on my feet, and I am terrified of the inactivity and losing core and muscle strength. First, I will have my right foot done, then my left. Did you find a yoga practice to exclude extremities that are non-functional?
Thank you so much for this, Adriene! As a wheelchair user, it's hard to find yoga sequences that are fully wheelchair user friendly, also thanks to your videos I've been focusing on self care a lot more over the last 18 months. Much love to you 💕
Thank you so much Adriene for providing this to the community. I will try this with my elderly mother. Loved Benji’s last minute appearance. 🙏🏻
Thank you, Andriene. I'm a yoga teacher who often uses your videos for inspiration for teaching my class. 10 days ago I broke my left ankle and am mostly confined to the couch with my leg propped on pillows. Today I found your wheelchair video and am delighted how you helped me out of a slump and feel refreshed and renewed. How humbling, after regularly doing a 1 hour 20 minute practice every morning to your simple, gentle routine. Delightful! One more proof that yoga is for EVERY BODY! Thanks, again!
I laughed so hard when Benji went in a sort of "active mode" - Love the dog! 😁
Thank you Adriene! Im a doctor and i have to sit for a long time in a chair in the clinic, i will do this every day, before and after my round of patients :D Greetings from Peru!
Perfect! Namaste!
I totally agree with Valerie and LadyOasis , and echo their views, you are a true Spirit of Freedom of Living Life to the full. You are awesome Adriene an Ambassador of 'Equality and Diversity' Also no mercy hun, even sitting on the job, you make us work as hard, Kudos to you. thank you, thank you, thank you and God Bless you 🙏for your loving Kindness to everyone, me and the world around🥰💞💕Namaste🧘♀
Good video! goodie!
feeling a bit blah, no problem ... even a 10mins chair yoga to REfresh! thanks and much appreciate
Namaste to all practising
Refresh Day 28: Day 15 for my personal 365-day yoga journey. This practice was rather challenging since my cat decided to chill on my shoulder the whole time, but it also made me feel incredibly good. Haven't smiled that much in some time. Thank you for making yoga inclusive🥰
Lol. Cat antics definitely enhance the routines, don't they 😸? Even when they are intrusive. I now make it a point to incorporate kitty's need to join me 💕
Personal Energize Day 9, 57 days in a row. Still hip pain, still figuring out how to keep my yoga journey going, so I did the next chair video I could find. Not completely satisfied but I do need to rest that hip, soooo... I hope it gets better soon
Personal Energize Day 10 and here again... it's really hard to commit to a practice that doesn't harm my injured body any further as I'm really ambitious and feel like catering to my needs right now is right, but it also feels like cheating. I grew up with the belief that no matter the circumstances you just have to push through. It's a really toxic way of thinking I know but it's also something that's really hard to shed. So instead of comitting to this month's calendar I'll commit to this: I will keep up my daily practice but I will only do this video (or similars if I can find any) until my doctor's appointment in two weeks and take their advice from then on. So here's to day 58 in a row and day 1 of actually listening to my body. Namaste
I'm not in a wheelchair, but sat down in a cross legged position and did this practice. It feels WONDERFUL for my upper body! Highly recommend this for anybody!
I am a wheelchair user and was really happy to see this video. I've been binge watching your videos of late. I know watching yoga videos in my yoga pants doesn't count as exercise, but my personal approach is to watch a routine out and assess what my body can and can't manage, or what would be medically inadvisable. If the routine has enough content that I can do, I go ahead and stretch or just rest in lotus and breathe when there are bits I can't. I have my own tried and tested routine but we all need some variety and I love your videos! This routine will defo come in handy for when I'm in my chair and have some time on my hands. One for the train maybe. Thanks again. xxx
I enjoyed this practice today that reminds us that there is always a way to find what feels good, no matter our abilities on any given day. Thank you for always giving us options Adriene. Refresh Day 28!
Thank you so much for doing this video!! I was in the hospital for almost all of September and am using a wheelchair as my strength comes back (and off and on because of my disability) and Ive missed being able to do my yoga! Much love ❤❤
sending you lots of love, get well soon! xx
Sophia Mayorova Thank you!
Lots of Love, Sister :)
Day 28 Refresh ✅ Namaste 🙏🏽
Day 59 🧘🏻♀️
Thank you so much! I have Cerebral Palsy and have been having muscle spasms all day and was in pain. After 6 minutes of this video, I was loose enough to be able to focus and do schoolwork. Please do more wheelchair yoga videos. I just got back into yoga about 6 months ago and need all the help I can get!
Apr 28, 2022 13:00
Intention : do my best, come as I am, find what feels good
I did this sequence twice today because it is yummy to my upper body which I needed the most these days, short but I feel awesome after this session and for that I am grateful
Thank you Adriene
Have a great day everyone see you all tomorrow
Namaste 🙏🏼
Refresh Day 28: I love inclusive practices, we even got some movements we don’t typically see day to day in these calendars. Thanks!
Thank you!!! 2 of my younger sisters (now 38 and 41) have been using and loving and praising Yoga with Adriene for years! I am older (now 53 and not dead yet) and have been disabled for a while now. I've never been in great shape since I was in my early 20s and only meet the floor by accident (quite rarely) and didn't find anything at the time that I knew how to adapt to my current level of flex and function.
5his week my youngest sister came to town and listening to the two of them talk about going to gym classes and still doing YwA, and watching my 41yo mother of 4 sister demonstrate what a "boat" pose is 9n the floor and then just hold it and show variations I was so moved at how strong they are and was wishing i could even start somewhere small. This morning I decided idea to search again and this came up! IT WAS PERFECT! I'm not in a wheelchair but do still have limited mobility and while the eagle hands are the hardest for now (I did them with barely a wrist to elbow) you are so accepting and encouraging that it didn't make me upset or want to give up but I was able to take it as it's just where I am for now, and that as I do 6his more it will improve , and it IS something I can do! I am going to do this every day for the next 30 days and then take things from there. Those last few breathes were tricky because I was crying with new found hope and relief by then!
Again, Thank you and Namaste!
As a wheelchair user and yoga lover, thank you so very much
Thank you Adriene. I'm down with a leg injury and have to lay off weightbearing on the leg for a while. Your seated yoga playlist is just perfect for me right now.
Day 28 refresh, I sadly missed yesterday's practice, but I am here and feeling good rejoining my Yoga buddies 💙 Namaste
I got chills at the end. Thank you Adriene! (and Benji lol)
Thank you for doing this, and also for respecting that many people who use wheelchairs aren't just sitting down, but can't use their legs. This is very helpful, thank you
That was an amazing practice. Been on my feet all day and am just also recovering from being a bit I’ll, so that was just perfect. Love the twists. The truth affirmations are also so poignant too. Thank you all. X
Thank you so much. I am a senior and just starting yoga. I am not able to do "normal" practice, so those shown sitting in chair are greatly useful. I thank you for your generous heart. Hoping this is the beginning of a beautiful life practice! Namasté
Thank you so much Adrienne--I really appreciate you sharing this practice. This is the only yoga I've been able to do since my snowboarding accident 4 LONG weeks ago. Your open hearted practice (and sweet dog) really lifted my heart. Namaste:)
That's a real treat, great job Benji!! Nice choreography!
This is awesome! Would you be able to do another wheelchair yoga that's a little bit longer?
Thank you for this. I'm t;otally disable and this is the first exercise I am going to commit to.
I am a paraplegic and I have recently become interested in yoga. I was having trouble finding a program that I was able to do with my disability. I found this video and it is perfect for me! Thank you so much!
I appreciate you! I have been looking for some yoga to do with my 80 year old mom to help with all her tightness from prolonged sitting and this is a perfect place to start! Thanks!!
I did some of your yoga pre wheelchair and it's a wholesome experience to accidentally stumble upon this video now. Will definitely try it later, appreciate it!
After 22 years in the chair I have discovered yoga - thank you Adriene, REALLY enjoying the routine!
I'm not a wheel chair user but I suffer from heart issues and this gentle stuff really helped me. I practice some of your other vids, the parts that don't require much effort and I was wondering if you could do a heart related yoga vid ☺️
Thanx a lot from the effort you put in every video.
Thank you so much for posting this! I'm not in a wheelchair personally, but it's beautiful and kind to have reached out to more people who are here for the practice! I'm sure this put a huge smile on everyone's face because it did on mine! :'D
Thank you for this! As a wheelchair using woman this video really spoke to me. Great start to my day!
Huge gratitude and respect for your consideration and empathy to think of posting this!
Adriene you are the best! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for this - my sister recommended chair yoga for me - I have a on-going mid spine pain and waiting on pain relief surgery after COVID-19 - this practice was great while I'm at home social distancing.
Thank you so much for making this video! I keep coming back to it and really appreciate that you have more accessible practices like these for wheelchair and chronic pain/illness
This video is 4 years old and I’m so grateful it even ever happened 💕 I had foot surgery and can’t do really anything lower body related, thank you Adriene 🙏🏾 forever grateful to you
yay!! wow!!! go adriene!!! good on you for being so inclusive of everyone!! ad a 100% able bodied person, my ignorance didn't even consider people in wheelchairs would do yoga.
Thank you for helping those in wheelchairs but for also enlightening me that people in wheelchairs can do yoga too!!
lol i haven't even watched the video yet
10 million thumbs up from me!
This is incredible!! Thank you for including differently abled people in your practices
Namaste. Of course!
Adrienne,
I started my yoga practice again about 6 months ago as part of my healing journey after losing my husband in 2015. It had been awhile since I had done yoga and wanted to get back into it slowly. I found you and the yoga videos you do and fell in love with yoga all over again. You are doing what you are here to do...I truly live the way you teach. You teach with such love and light filled with bliss and joy. Thank you Adrienne for being you. Namaste.
adriene you are the sweetest soul to ever exist ♡
Namaste darling. Thank you.
Thank you so much Adriene! It means the world to me to have these and I struggle with auto immune diseases one of which is rheumatoid arthritis. I have been following a clean eating diet and know that excercise is so important for health. I plan to follow your program everyday!! Thanks again and many blessings to you and yours.❤️🤗
Thanks, Adriene! I broke my ankle and have been attempting some back yoga poses. This was a nice change of pace that didn’t hurt my leg at all! Always love your videos! I do one everyone morning (when I’m not broken!).
God Bless YOU ❤ I regained the use of my legs a year ago, and found your videos a month ago. This will be so great for when my legs arent feeling that great and super shakey. seriously, THANK YOU✌
I have been doing yoga for years. About 2 months ago I injured my ankle and then reinsured it. I was trying to do my mat yoga one morning when I realized I couldn’t get up off the floor. I had to sckooch my bottom around the floor to reAch the nearest chair and pull myself up. So I started looking for chair yoga and since I’m not allowed too much weight bearing I am completely loving your wheelchair yoga. Your laid back but compassionate attitude with enough but not too many instructions is wonderful. You have no idea how grateful I am that I found you. Thank you.
Thank you Adriene, this is such a help whilst recovering from surgery. Means a lot to be able to do this xx
Hi Adrienne, I am new to a wheelchair and use this yoga practice a couple of times a week. I’d love it if you could put together another one! I really miss practicing yoga!
Thank you so much for this! I broke my foot and struggle to make some yoga poses and you just came out with this! I love it! THANK YOU! Namaste!
I shared this video in my Psychology of Consciousness class as part of my protect to show how you can become more in tune with yourself. My class and I did this together and everyone had a great time and enjoyed this experience. Since I didn't know everyone's background in yoga, I picked this one. Thank you for creating great content! :)
Thank you! I've been wanting to do yoga for the many benefits, but couldn't find a practice that didn't cause me significant pain. Being in a wheelchair is so limiting already, it's wonderful to be able to enjoy physical activity!
As a wheelchair user who is used to climbing in and out of my chair, doing yoga from the floor is no problem and it feels good to do it with other people! But I can do it from home in my chair now that I've found this! Thanks! ❤️
Please add more videos like this! I totally need some more gentle yoga chair routine videos in my life. Ten minutes is the prefect length.
As a recovering stroke patient this is really a helpful video. Just proof that doctors don't know everything. I wasn't supposed to move or talk again. I'm moving and talking. It's not as good as it was but I'm getting there.
Thank you, Adriene, for helping us all "find what feels good" and, of course, thank you, Benji for being Benji. Namaste
I am in a wheelchair and it was great to do this, my first atempt at yoga. I might be hooked.
Thank you so much for this video I’m in wheelchair and I’m so grateful for you taking your time and making this for myself and others as our disability should not exclude us from doing what others can so again thank you so much really thoughtful of you and I also suffer with a lot of pain and found this really relaxing a simple video but with big benefits so thank you again x x
thanks Adrienne for this! I sprained my ankle really bad 2 weeks ago and I miss my yoga! now I can do some while my ankle heals!
also. I love that you are a dog owner ;) you can easily see how much you love your pupper Benji. it's awesome!
I live with chronic pain due to lower lumbar damage from a car accident - several damaged discs which means wheelchair use, and that is also electric wheelchair, as it is too painful to push a standard chair. Finally I can adapt something and get some yoga in. I used to love yoga prior to my accident over a decade ago. When one is in pain, one wars with one's own body, and it becomes the shell you are trapped in. This gives me a chance to reconnect with my body in a better way. I cannot thank you enough for giving me back something I thought lost forever.
I am not in a wheelchair, I just had to tell you how amazing you are, your videos make my life better & I am so glad I found them. Thank you for shinning so bright! Love from across the world, namaste
Thank you Adrienne! This video is so so important for the wheelchair community! And a shout out to benji for making his presence known :D
Works also well when sitting on bed while having your foot broken at 3 places ✌🏼 Thanks for the work out
