been looking for a simple to follow build guide for my companions, this helped a ton! im only level 5 but get stuck with so much choice, now i can just focus on the game and let you handle the builds. watching your bard build now!
Awesome, glad you're enjoying them! :D
Great video, appreciate the insight and level of detail on all your builds
Your build guides are very very good. Thanks for investing the time & effort to make them. Keep up the good work!
Thanks very much!
I'm enjoying these builds a lot.
Awesome, glad you're liking them! They're really fun to make :D
Nice build guide. Never made a fighter before but I think I will try out a Gith Fight my next char. I just wish you would of took a little extra time to go over some of the gear choices.
There's a tiny bug I've noticed in my playthrough with my wife, that if you have 8 str, on str checks the game will grant you a -1 to str checks and then add the +5 from the elixir of str so if your utilising an elixir fighter, make sure your base str is 10 until it's been patched.
I especially like Gith as a main character Fighter because you can use Astral Knowledge to give yourself proficiency in every CHA skill every long rest meaning you don’t need to take any of them for you background or class proficiencies. It just really helps keep you from spreading yourself thin.
Im starting the game soon and I have a similar build in mind, just instead of light cleric, I want to take war cleric for RP reasons. Does it matter if you add the second class early on, e.g. you level one class with warrior than chose cleric and than go back to warrior all through?
I like Rally for reviving downed teammate
Huh honestly amazing how my gf and mw didn't miss out on a somewhat optimized fighter build, got it mostly right. And this is like the first bg3/dnd experience for us.
Cant say that about our sorcerer build tho, such amount of options is painful for newbies
I would love to see the armor you use for these classes
amazing guide.
Thanks so much! Glad you liked it :D
Simple yet solid and concise information 🫡
Why is Savage Attacker not an option for a feat. It would seem to me that taking the higher of two roll on damage would be super effective to up your DPS output.
With a potion you can have +2 strength making into 22. Do you think is worth it have 22 with 1 less feat ?
I have GWP and Alert and in level 12 I can take 1 more or I can increase Strength from 20 to 22. What do you think ?
any chance you could do builds for strength based chars using elixirs of hill/cloud giant or gauntlets of hill giant?
I've done many! Try "The Immortal Tank" for one for example. I also usually include a section where I talk about them during the discussion of items.
Props to this build guide! Super informative
Just want to add my 2 cents and keep in mind this is pretty nitpicky (also minor spoilers ahead):
Towards the end of the video you recommend dumping STR to buff other stats because you can consume hill giant elixirs to net 21 STR (there is also a 27 STR elixir later in the game!). You claimed this was the "most powerful build" if you take this route however I kind of disagree.
If you were to consume auntie ethels hair for the +1 and put it into STR, there is also 2 other sources of permanent stat gains, of which +2 is only for STR and the other +2 can go anywhere. If you were to put both into STR, and starting from 17, with merely 1 +2 feat you are able to hit 24 permanent STR which isn't all that much weaker than 27 using the elixir (considering it's only a +1 more as you only gain bonuses on even numbers).
This also frees up your elixir slot which you can use the way more powerful Bloodlust elixir giving you a bonus action per turn and every other turn if you manage to kill something, which with how many extra attacks as a Fighter you get is very easy to do!
Thanks so much!
You're absolutely right of course! I'm simplifying somewhat in the video. My general assumption is that most people use Ethyl's hair for their main character, so if they aren't playing Lae'zel they won't be able to use it. Even without ethyl's hair or the drow's potion, bloodlust elixir will often be better than marginally higher strength, but also more frustrating to use because people hate missing even if it's more average damage. There's plenty of other ways to break bounded accuracy but many of them are pretty fiddly so I don't like to recommend them.
You can also of course use the act 3 STR gloves if you dump strength and get your elixir slot back for the end game.
ok yeah I didn't actually factor that in to my comment, which makes total sense for a Lae'zel build you're totally right there.
actually the more I think about it, the tradeoff on completely dumping STR and using an elixir gives you a lot of room to play around with other stats, which may end up being perhaps marginally weaker in combat but far more effective as a party face character with super high WIS and or CHA. if you use the 18 DEX gloves, this may be even better @@Cephalopocalypse
Wish youd show the gear
GWM at 4 gimps your character a lot on tactician. You get less than 50% hit chance. Also savage attacker brings much more value than sentinel
As I say in the video, you use precision attack, trip attack, and other sources of advantage to mitigate the hit penalty. I also highly encourage you to give sentinel a try - with good unit positioning it's extremely powerful!
@@Cephalopocalypse Use all your superiority dice just to be able to land hits in combat, or go barbarian and land hits for free while taking half damage from pretty much everything in the game by pressing one button you get 5 charges for that last for 10 turns. Just from my experience playing, fighter doesn't hold a candle to barbarian.
@@michealhubbard684I’m sure that information would be great for a barbarian guide, but this is about fighter my g
@@chillrendbeats7592 maybe he's pointing out that barbarian does this build better so maybe this build should be something else.
Then shut the fuck up and go make a barbarian lol … this isn’t a barb guide, it’s maximizing fighter. Clown
I built her around Gloves of Dexterity and used heavy armor trait to get her to 20 str.
Please do a Champion build
when you respec do you lose the anti ethel buff and the see invisible eye?
you dont lose it, however when you're respeccing it doesnt show the added stat on the interface. For example if you got aunt ethel +1 strength, you can leave the character level screen at 19 str and it should be 20 on your inventory screen.
Yep, as Romerinho said, you get to keep all permanent buffs when you respec your character, but they won't appear in your level up screen so you have to remember which ones you have. Also if you have skill expertise or proficiencies from other classes, sometimes that won't show up so you'll need to remember which skills you have if you're eg. a rogue /bard multiclass, so you don't accidentally level the same thing twice!
Nice build.. just wish it had a gear build too
agreed. But it is somewhat nice having it be wholly gear independent, freeing up important items for my other party members.
What equipments do you use for laezel?
This build is pretty gear-agnostic, but the most important thing is getting the best heavy armor you can find (early on, the adamantine splint from grymforge) and the best greatsword (the one the gith at the bridge drops will last a long time). Other than that anything that boosts AC, saves, or give you extra mobility is nice
Bae’ zel looking so good 🤤🦎👗
What's with the dislikes? Should I follow this guide? I just started bg3 5 days ago.
I have no clue what you mean by "what's with the dislikes" seeing as this video has only 6 dislikes to over 700 likes. But otherwise yeah, very solid guide and leaves a lot of space for you to change some things to your liking.
Fighter is easy and powerful. I don't think there need a specific guide to it.
But there're something to add. Get Athletics feat (and start with 17str) first, maybe even get the Athletics proficiency. Those long jump is very helpful on early game before you kill Nere for the boots, or if you want the boots to be on other party member. Also you actually miss a lot, and too many "high defense" enemies on early game. You really want to max out or at least have 18 str before you take Great Weapon feat. You can respec at act3 if you decided to take half-ceremonies.
BTW, Manacing attack is the best maneuvers. Simply b'cos most enemies in the game are dumb, low to neg wis check.
Athlete is a good feat if you don't mind losing some stats (or are using gloves of dexterity etc to get them back). We use precision attack, trip attack, and other sources of advantage to mitigate the hit penalty of great weapon master. Menacing attack very good! That's why I recommend taking it after the three critical ones :)
Great build out there. There is only one thing I disagree with. Great weapon fighting is a weak choice as a fighting style. At best, with a greatsword, it adds an avg of 1.3 additional damage per hit (and with other heavy weapons it doesn't even reach 1) with the base version of the weapon (and it doesn't work with extra sources of dmg), which is really nothing on the total. In my opinion, it would be better to pick protection. One point of AC if you fight without a shield is a lot more valuable.
You take great weapon fighting style because you’ll also be taking great weapons master, taking any means of increasing the odds to hit is made much more valuable because of this feat.
@@chillrendbeats7592 that's not how the fighting style works. It lets you reroll on your damage dices, not on the to hit dices. So nope.
Time stamps would be incredibly useful in your videos
My more recent videos have time stamps, and I'm slowly going through and adding them to these older ones
So if I wanted to do this for an archery fighter. I love her she is a wood elf
Definitely! Check out my archer build "The best archer in baldur's gate" for a more archery focused character
This build is great....She basically fucked up one of the Mage bosses in Act 3 in 1 turn
Nice!!
