- In today's episode of Newshour Agenda with Madhavdas G, we discuss the latest data where it was revealed that Muslims between 1950 and 2015, the Hindu population shrunk by 7.8%. In contrast, the Muslim population surged by 43%. Christian and Sikh population also saw increase respectively. While BJP has called the 'demographic' change a serions issue, on the other hand Congress has questioned the timing of release of data. We are joined by panelists to discuss the issue. No census has been done after 2011. Cooked estimation is being publicized out of some ulterior motives. According to the last census of 201, fertility rate among Hindus in BJP rule States of Hindi Block is higher to that of the Muslims of the South of (including WB). Muslims of India comprises of about 15%. Number of Hindus of Hindi Block is much higher to that of the Muslims of India. What does it signify? It is basically an election of BJP. But, hindu-muslim rivalry theory will not work this time. Increase or decrease of population is a social issue and not an issue of religion mainly.
