  • Hey everyone! Once again I want to thank all of you for your immense support. It means everything to me to know I’m helping even one person. It means even more to me to read about how you help each other by giving advice or coping mechanisms that worked for you. PLEASE CONTINUE TO DO THAT! If there’s anything we can gain of value from this experience, it is that we inform those with only an outside perspective of the sickness of our own personal experience. Be honest. Be observant. Stay open minded and don’t be afraid to ask for help. For information on the current epidemic please visit the below website as well as doing your own unbiased research. It’s extremely important that we find out how to stop this from happening to others and to help those already hurt to recover.
    EDIT: Shoutout to Lex F (the girl who I mentioned in my vid) for giving her experience on CHS. I’ll put her channel link below!

    Hey bro, Ive had a few episodes to. Abstinence from cannabis is the only way, flower or any form. You've got this bro. Do a solid 3 months, then after respect the plant. 100% moderation. Then a t break before it gets bad. Once you notice you're smoking as a means to an end it's got to stop for a while. Don't smoke to calm your stomach, or to calm your anxiety, don't smoke x for y. Keep it recreational. And especially don't smoke before sleep. Your body fasts while you sleep, its not as active so your metabolism is significantly slowed down- meaning your body doesn't dispose of thc correctly. Everyday exercise helps to kick it out of your stored fat. Physical activity is amazing for your anxiety, health, and depression. Then you can enjoy smoking for what it is. Smoking, not depending. I love you brother. You have me hope through my journey. It's definitely anxiety related and high blood pressure too. That's where physical activity comes in. We aren't alone. You're a martyr. Love.

      Love this. Just found out I’ve had chs for over ten years so I know the pain… literally. I’ve got hernia at the top of my gut from to many bouts. Had cameras and all the tests done. I take omeprazole for that but I’ve honestly lost count of how many bouts I’ve had maybe 30-50 or more. Thc binds to our digestive track and causes it to contract and stress too much. I know it’s nasty but a laxative can help get some movement going and reduce some cramping. When I have episodes I go into shock a lot. Sweat all my fluid and shake uncontrollably. I’ll have hot sweats and will vomit for the whole duration until I can fall asleep. I’ve been sick too many times to even remember. I once went a whole year without a bout and I was smoking the whole time. From what I can tell. It starts with Radom bouts once in a blue moon and then over time it slowly fuck our digestive system up. I’ve found vitamin d and b12 helps. Creatine helps me maintain a decent weight. And now I know about chs and that I have it. I’m really gonna try to cut down and maybe stop who knows. Shout out to anyone suffering. I’m from the uk so don’t even know if I can get a real diagnosis

    I had CHS for 3 years. Thought it was "fixed" after 10 months of no symptoms (and smoking mostly home grown organic) and then BAM- sick. Starting over...again (again). Homie, every time we do this... it damages our kidneys. We gotta cut it out.
    Vape pens/concentrates are the worst thing you could do for CHS... instead of bud at most being 30% you go take a concentrate at up to 99%...you are fast tracking overloading your CBD 1&2 Receptors. Whatch out for black pepper, cocoa and coffee as these also have natural Cannabinoids and can trigger CHS.

But we can do it!

    To be fair the pain just got to much in the end and that was ultimately what made me completely stop smoking weed... I was in denial about it actually being the weed at first because I smoked for so many years with no problems and actually enjoyed smoking. But I read so many testimonies about the problems/symptoms being due to weed smoking. So thought let me really put this quitting to the test, so I did. I’ve never looked back, no more symptoms and ultimately no more of that disgusting/unbearable pain. As much as we all enjoy a good smoke, quitting is the only way

It sucks to come to the realization that we are basically Allergic to weed. Only cure for now is cessation of weed unfortunately. Consistent exercise and hydration is key. I hope you have stopped completely by now...your body is a temple, treat it as such. I just spent 3 1/2 days in the hospital and was diagnosed with CHS. It was easily the most pain I've ever felt in my life. The panic attacks are also real. Omw to the hospital my hands and feet were going numb, not sure if that's a normal symptom, either way I thought I was dying or suffering some sort of cardiac event because my heartbeat was skyrocketing, in reality I was just having a panic attack. CHS is no joke. Thank you for doing this though, you are a great soul I can feel it.

    thanks for making this, your videos were the only thing that made me feel less alone when I was in the middle of a week of vomiting. I also believe the pens made me hyper-emetic and have stopped using them but still smoke daily (grown by me) and most mornings I wake up feeling at least a little shitty. What sucks is that smoking usually makes it go away immediately but if I do it in the morning it's pretty hard not to make it an all day thing that turns into a viscous cycle... I find that not smoking too late at night / too many x per day is the biggest help. It could also totally be placebo but ginger ale seems to help me a lot too, the one time I ran out I started throwing up again.

      @iPROxIAMROCK Před 4 lety

      Mason Newitt I’m in a similar situation yet I’m not sure if I have CHS I only had one 12 hour vomiting episode ever and it might’ve been a stomach virus, but I do wake up with morning sickness a lot just kinda sick to my stomach not very hungry, I don’t take anything for it as it’s not like painful or causing me to gag or anything but all my tests have come back clean on my GI side so I’ve just cut back a lot only using a small amount before dinner and a medium amount before bed

    • @thechsjournal3734
      @thechsjournal3734  Před 4 lety +1

      Mason Newitt Hey man, I really appreciate your input and it means a ton to me that at least something I say is helping you. I’m done with the pens and I’m gonna try to cut back significantly on smoking (especially on a daily basis) until I can eventually put it down or at least function like a proper human being regularly lol. But that’s the same for me with the morning routine. I wake up extra early and I feel awful. It usually starts to subside after I lay there and whine for like 15 mins or if I take a hit off the bowl first thing in the morning... which you would think would seem a bit counterproductive lol but it totally does help. Makes it hard to break that cycle you’re talking about. But I’m glad you mentioned it because it’s literally what I go through every morning and you nailed it on the head. I’ll have to give ginger ale a go. I was trying to get candy when I was hyperemetic. Good luck man! Hope things work out!

      @@Rjh0177 I ended up quitting thc altogether. The hyperemisis was too intense. The first few months after I quit I was drinking more than I should. I was diagnosed with adhd and apparently it’s pretty common for adhd people to want to be high all the time to deal with boredom. I’m in adhd medication and antidepressants so that has made it easier to be sober. I don’t really drink much anymore. I’ll drink some Kratom from time to time if I want to feel a buzz but overall I feel better. I am able to remember my dreams now and my memory is a lot better than when I was vaping thc all the time. Since I can pass a drug test now I got my CDL so I can get a driving job. So for the time being I’m not planning on going back to the thc. Maybe when I’m an old man if I don’t get hyperemisis I’ll start vaping again but I’m doing fine now so I don’t really feel a need to vape all the time. In retrospect I definitely was overdoing it and that’s why I got hyperemisis. If after 3 months you don’t get hyperemisis then you should be alright but if not you might just have to adapt to something. Humans are pretty good at adapting to different situations.

If you think you have adhd, even if it’s pretty minor, it’s probably worth it to be evaluated. I wish I had done it much sooner. Life is a lot easier now that I’ve learned some healthier coping mechanisms and I’m taking medication. If you’re in school it will almost certainly make you’re life a lot easier. Daily exercise is good advice for anyone but especially people with adhd. I work out every weekday and that makes a big difference as well. It’s good you’re not a drinker. The CHS Journal I’ve been pretty good! Stopped smoking for probably 2 1/2 weeks after my last “chs episode” (which was about 9 months ago) and then gradually brought it back up to normal(for me)/everyday.. haven’t had any nausea or vomiting at all since, despite smoking the exact amount i did before I was admitted to the ER&hospital. I got on an antidepressant/antianxiety called Lexapro and I wonder if maybe, all along, it was just bad anxious episodes bc of school and things. My episodes tended to always be RIGHT before an exam or job interview or something like that & now that I’m on the Lexapro (for like 8-9months now) I have not had an anxious episode or stomach issue like that SINCE. Every so often I’d go to your channel and see if you’d made any updates since then bc I wondered if maybe you were in the same position I was in

    • @thechsjournal3734
      @thechsjournal3734  Před 4 lety +3

      Jessica Lynn hey so recently I’ve actually been finding articles that say that anxiety is directly related to it and can often be the trigger for the hyperemesis part. All the reports are showing people are coming into ERs suffering from panic attacks alongside dehydration etc from vomiting episodes and all that. I guess it can also have something to do with blood pressure because high anxiety situations cause blood pressure to rise making your kidneys work harder to distil toxins from our blood. The theories are still just theories so I don’t want people to take it as fact without researching for themselves, but I’m sure anxiety plays a huge role..
      I’m so glad you’ve been doing well! I hope you continue to feel okay, try and keep me updated on how it goes. Let me know if you start experiencing symptoms again for any reason. ♥️

    I've smoked for over 20 years, and after I tried concentrates in general, I was diagnosed with CHS. I first tried dispensary BHO dabs and ended up in the hospital. The pain and vomiting lasted 2 days. After this my stomach was never the same. I then started using carts heavily and ended up with pain and vomiting for 7 days straight. Now if I even smoke a little piece of a regular joint I'm nauseous and taking hot showers for days, but no vomiting yet. I love weed. It helps me mentally but now destroys me physically. I hope they figure out what's going on, even if it really is just the THC, I want to know. Thank you for your videos. Much love.

I remember reading on a forum somewhere about Haldol but I’ve been reluctant to try it since others have claimed it’s a little harsh on your stomach and I have one HELL of a weak stomach after all this lol. But if it comes down to it, I think I’ll give it a shot. Thanks for the suggestion! Try to keep a log of how you’re feeling on a daily basis and how much you’re smoking. Like just jot some shit down in your phones notepad or something and see if there’s a trend. Worth a try and it’s a step toward figuring out whether or not CHS is the culprit. Hope you feel better man! Good luck, much love.

    I am 45 years old been smoking since I was 19 this vomiting started for me about 4 years ago, i discovered the research on this subject 5 months ago and decided to stop and see if it helped me cure myself, which it seems to. I see a lot of different opinions from people of different age groups etc on this and other videos/articles/discussions of this subject and it does make me wonder if this isn't occurring because of modern botany techniques related to growing pot, some say they grow their own and still have this illness. My question is where do they acquire their seed and has the entire seed stock become polluted (as we have heard Monsanto has done through genetically modifying the corn seed stock)?? Prior to the last ten years and the legalization and mass marketing of weed I have never once heard of these symptoms in anyone and that covers users of 2 years to long term users of 20+ years. In short I believe this is a real problem but not a naturally occurring problem. I think the powers that be are messing with the botany folks, not good!
    Incidentally I stopped smoking on the exact date this vid was published, today is Dec 3 all functions have returned to normal, however being in a home of a legal medicinal user, my wife, I do miss doing it and wonder how permanent these effects can be and if I will ever be able to smoke again. Sure been saving a ton of cash as a result I must say.

    I figured it out boys and I strictly smoked carts as well
    With a lot of research this is what I’ve found
    It’s the same reaction as when you take too much head ache medication to heal your head ache but then it just causes a headache
    Thc gets stored in fatcells and needs to be processed like everything else and when long term smokers put in to much thc over time with out a break our body’s can’t handle it, carts are way more potent so CHS happens faster then bud but if you give your body a full year or 2 completely detox the thc add extra enzymes to diet to process the thc. as of now your reciptors are broken and when u only wait a month after u feel good to smoke again but there not actually healed and you have to let them heal and you’ll never be able to smoke everyday or it’ll come back and it’ll have to be only on occasion but better then nothin

    I just got my diagnosis today. i had a lurking suspicion that it was CHS after being a daily smoker for 3 and a half years now. my dad even texted me a year ago about the potential of it being hyperemesis and i ignored him cuz I had been diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome a few years earlier. A year ago, I started going to therapy and really working on overcoming my anxiety, which helped a ton but didnt solve everything. funny enough, I havent smoked in a couple weeks cuz i realized weed was not helping at all while i was super stressed during finals. Glad i have a little headstart on quitting and Im not getting any withdrawal (physical or emotional), also ive found that Kratom is super helpful when i need a buzz or to self-medicate but dont wanna fuck up my stomach. sucks to give up weed when i have so many good memories with my best friends on it and when its gotten me through some of the toughest times in my life, but I know it will be best to stay off it and to develop healthier ways of coping. Hey, I watched your video several months back and commented. My son was diagnosed with this, so he was treated like shit in the ER's. Come to find out, he doesn't have CHS, he has Cyclic Vomitting syndrome and it looks pretty much the same. After he was put on medication for it, (amitriptilyne plus over the counter COQ10), the first night he took it, he woke up not sick the next morning after months of continuous sickness, vomitting, weakness and stomach pain. It sent him into acute kidney failure, so if there is anything you can do, drink a gatorade each day. But also talk to your doctor about cyclic vomiting syndrome.

      Amanda Exner Hey, thanks for your response! I will definitely be on the lookout for a CVS diagnosis but the docs need me to be completely THC free for 3 consecutive months which I haven’t quite gotten to yet. I hope you don’t mind if I ask a couple questions about your son. When and how did he initially find out he had acute kidney failure and what were his symptoms of it specifically? I know the vomiting and diarrhea can lead to it but once he advanced to kidney failure how was it detected? Did they discover through toxicities detected through blood work or were there other factors at play? Were you already in the hospital when they discovered this and also how soon after his initial CHS diagnosis did this happen. Lastly, what is his treatment plan for recovery and is he doing better now? Kidney health is something I worry about in this entire scenario so all the details you could provide around that whole situation would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks ahead of time and I hope all is well with your son.

      @@thechsjournal3734 Anything I can do to help I would be grateful to. So ask away.!!! I hate to see anyone with either, whether it's CHS or CVS. You remind me of my son so much and even look like him and act like him!! But anyway, the longer you have CVS, it can develop into coalescence, meaning you never have a break from the symptoms. (they don't stop and continue) That is what happened to my son, so he became malnutrioned and chronically dehyrated which is very dangerous and starts breaking down all body systems. He could be in "fair" condition and before you knew it, in a full blown state of vomitting and severe abdominal pain. You have to get your GFR tested, (his went down to a kidney function of 22) in an acute attack, and his creatinine levels were over 3.30 (I can't remember the specific number). The most important thing is to make sure you are getiting enough electrolytes which I know can be hard when you are always nauseated or vomiting. That doesn't mean just water, that means Gatorade, something with sugar in it or pedialyte., every single day even if you don't feel really sick, so that way your body is stocked up for the next episode. This is imperative to avoiding all kinds of very severe complications. EVERY doctor or ER Doctor that attended to him, blamed it on the weed and sent him on his way, and I really can't tell you the severe hell we went through trying ot keep him alive without proper medical care. IF they won't diagnose you there are steps you can take to try and help without any prescription medication and only taking the supplements needed. You can look up "Doctor Boles - the mitococktail" to get a list of the over the counter supplements you will need for cyclic vomitting. Those alone can work for a lot of people. But some people need a prescription, anti-migraine medication...the one my son is taking is amitriptiline, (whixh is also a tricyclic antidepressant but it works on the nervous system for migraines) and he takes it with the COQ10. You can also take L- Carnitine. But go to Doctor Boles site to get the exact doses. So anyway, my son could not stop smoking pot either, and he stlill does though he cut down....because ---- taga!! When he started on the right medications, he got a new life....now he has an episode every six months, as opposed to every single day!! The medicine worked miracles for him..I really don't beleive that he would have lived if just one doctor didn't write that script for him. So other signs, are paleness, weakness, confusion, lethargy, trouble concentrating, anxiety, panic attacks, My son also had fainting spells, abnormal blood pressure reading like 100 over 30, or high blood pressure during episodes. If you can, join this group on facebook. Both me and my son joined it and they have so much information, plus you won't feel so alone. www. facebook.com/ groups/cvsgroup/ It's a very active group. Just don't give up and stay hydrated with electrolytes not just water. Do you drink tons of water? That is a symptom of CVS during episodes of vomiting, but it can also hurt because water has no electrolytes in it anymore. Unless they are added in.

    • @motivationalmeditations2875
      @motivationalmeditations2875 Před 4 lety +1

      PS...Scolding hot showers are also a sign of cyclic vomiting, not just CHS. And ithere can be a lot of triggers, but the most common ones, are getting over heated, over tired, fasting, positive or negative stress, cheese, MSG, chocolate, dairy, and people have other food triggers. I'm trying to make sure I answer all of your questions...his other symptoms of kidney damage were blood in the urine and severe lower back pain. He was gaunt, his face sunk in, black under his eyes and looking like a skeleton. The bottom of his spine swelled out about two inches when he went into acute kidney failure. They finally admitted him into the hospital and he had to be on an IV drop for days with no food, because he was also in an acute episode of CVS. It wasm't until he was released that he saw a fill in doctor for his regular doctor that wrote the script that saved him. I think his regular doctor hates us now because she was wrong and someone else successfully helped him. Every doctor I brought him to was completely unethical, rude and dismissing of him. I lost my trust in any mainstream doctor at this point. I had to call hospital advocates, so do that if you have to! Do your research and advocate for yourself...becaisee we all basically have to be our own best doctors these day! They need to stop and relaly listen to you. Most doctors have maybe only read a pamphlet or a couple studies on CVS and it doesn't panit the entire picture at all. It was a month or two after I responded on your other post that he almost died before they took it serious.

    I'm an old fart and I never heard of anyone developing CHS over time until recently. But I've personally seen people react by vomiting the first time they try it, and those people react the same way every time. Also, if you experience paranoia, depression or anxiety, you won't suddenly have a good experience with repetition. Weed definitely doesn't agree with some people. But I also wonder about a lot of the products now available. The purity standards for legal weed as far as insect parts go may be ensuring that weed is instead contaminated by pesticides, which may be worse than the bugs. Other contaminants may be involved, and there are also products which have only recently been widely available that are incredibly concentrated. Vitamin E in pens has definitely killed people, and there are a lot of unregulated pens out there. Even the approved products may have poor quality control. Some of them are entirely counterfeit and contain no cannabis at all. Pens may also be vaporizing plastics, heavy metals or some other contaminant from it's components. It's fairly certain that there are multiple dangers in the current products and that they aren't well regulated. I'm all for legalization, but there has to be regulation and quality control.

    Hey, do you remember how severe your first episode was? Was it very severe? I went to the ER yesterday for slight nausea for the last 3 days. Not because I couldn't keep anything down I just wanted some nausea medication because the over the counter stuff around the house didn't do anything for me. My eating habits are equally as bad as yours though my eating patterns are better (i eat a small breakfast and I eat both lunch and dinner) I've taken the nausea meds this morning I woke up kind of early and couldn't get back to sleep I wasn't nauseous yet I just took it to make sure as I work today. I think it could be but also the doctor kind of shut his eyes to any other possibility as soon as I told him I smoke. Just made me kind of nervous that he might be jumping the gun a bit and I have a 13 month old son (so I'm not quitting unless I have to, but i am willing lol) idk kinda just feels like he had tunnel vision, they took blood and haven't told me really anything about my blood work although it was just yesterday. But today I'm feeling fine a slight cramp in my stomach (I think because I was afraid of making the nausea worse though only 1 of the 3 times I threw up was right after dinner on the first night. So I just think he was wrong

    yo I’m 16 years old, I’ve only been smoking for 2 months, I was smoking about 2.5 grams a day all day every day. Suddenly one morning I woke up vomiting at around 6am. At first I thought I was just sick. But then it continued for a couple of days. And I continued to smoke bongs. I then woke up on day 2 and vomited again. The pain was unbearable, so my girlfriend drove me to the hospital at 5am. They just told me it was gastro and sent me home. The next day I woke up agin but earlier around 4:40 it the vomiting was much was and the pain was also. So I went back to hospital they did some tests and seen I was severely dehydrated so they put me on a drip, later that day I had a CT scan, Ultrasound, Urine Sample, Blood Test. Nothing was found. So they discharged me, i then went home and was feeling okay that night, I then woke up again and had to go the hospital, I’ve been here for 4 days i it’s now Wednesday 2nd of October I haven’t smoked since the 28th and I’m still having the symptoms and pain of chs I was just wondering if there is any answers on how long this pain will last for. This is by far the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life and I just want it all to end. That’s what point I’m at. Just wondering how long it takes for symptoms to disappear, please I’m desperate for answers

    I was diagnosed with CHS yesterday. Don’t really know what to do or if it’s even CHS, I’m very confused, I was hospitalized three times this week with excruciating abdomen pain, and extremely bad nausea. The doctors told me to completely stop smoking, I smoked a little stinger yesterday, and felt completely fine. I guess I’m just wondering, how much weed can someone with CHS smoke before it effects their health continuously? Do I have to stop completely, and if so for how long do I have to stop?

      @@ExodusXXIV hey, I’m extremely sorry to hear you had to deal with that. Your situation is actually very interesting.. So it’s been about three years since my first episode. It really seems like research is pointing to this(please take this with a grain of salt and do your own research to back up the info): CHS causes some kind of dietary malfunction in the gut. Maybe an interference with receptors that are supposed to allow us to digest, or something else, nobody really seems to know yet. Somehow though, it has a tendency to cause gastroparesis. When I changed the way I ate, (and the time at which I ate), combined with a tolerance break. it got better. I don’t have any sort of ED, but I would go without eating most of the day quite often and then eat random junk or fast food late at night. I still kinda do that but not nearly as bad. Nowadays, I try to eat breakfast (which really sucks because I have zero appetite in the mornings) and then maybe sometimes have lunch but if I skip, then I eat dinner and I try to stop eating at least a couple hours before I sleep. I don’t always follow my rule and sometimes i still feel sick in the morning *prodromal symptoms* but I don’t vomit. I’m able to smoke, though. I don’t use any form of concentrates anymore but I do smoke flower on a pretty regular basis.

Symptoms hit me hard around that time, both physical and emotional. Do your best to remind yourself that the heaviness and exhaustion will go away with time. Try to keep your mind busy. When these receptors are blocked, this produces the same effects as being poisoned. This tells your stomach to vomit everything up as a defense mechanism. So how do we reactivate these TRPV1 receptors? With heat. That is why we are drawn to very hot showers. That is why doctors in the emergency room will recommend capsaicin cream. Capsaicin is the active component in chili that gives it it's heat. I'm not a doctor, im just trying to figure out what might help. In theory, eating more chili and spicy foods that are known to reactivate these TRPV1 receptors may help, But be careful of foods with pepper, as pepper is known to aggravate chs symptoms. Also, a slightly higher acidic diet can help reactivate these receptors, a keto diet, taking low dose aspirin, drinks with higher acidity such as kombucha, in theory these things may help. Again, I am no doctor, just a fellow sufferer of this horrible illness that would love to smoke again, even if it's only once or twice a week or so. My personal experience, stay away from concentrates. Minimize your use, if you have the willpower to quit, then by all means do so. In the mean time, I hope this helps. Only time will tell. I wish you all the best and give you all my love.

    Will CHS return if I smoke flower and not pen again , the cause of CHS for me was “Stiizy Pen” do I have to quit or will I be okay to smoke flower here and there ?

      I never smoked pens. Didn’t like em. I smoked flower everyday almost all day from age 15-23. I started feeling the symptoms at age 22. It was the flower that did it for me. It’s because of the THC. High THC use is what causes it whether it’s flower or concentrates

    Dude, be careful taking Benzodiazepines, that is a whole different world of pain you definitely don't want to experience if you become reliant. Are you still taking Valium?

    Stomach issues, anxiety, depression are all caused by the excess weed intake. One trick is to get rid of all of your smoking stuff that triggers smoking. Go clean and save yourself bro!

      Hi! Yeah, I’m doing much better but still have stomach and digestive issues. I do still smoke but it’s a lot more heavily moderated and I typically stay away from anything that isn’t just flower. I sometimes reach my prodrome symptoms but on those days I’m able to recognize it and cut my intake short and prevent it from escalating. Haven’t had to visit the ER in over a year

      Nah either way vaping has more then 7,000 chemicals so basically radiation in your lungs and stomach battery contaminates the oil that’s why u start having higher tolerance just straight up weed is good but now I drink it in tea it’s way better bro
