  • Is the 2021 iPad Mini good for notetaking? As I've been using the 6th gen Mini over the past few weeks, I've realized the pros and cons of its smaller form factor in terms of notetaking. Whether you're a student looking for a new device to help you in the classroom or a professional looking for a device to accompany you out in the field, this video should help you find out if the Mini is right for you.

    For those just seeing this video like me, the review is a good one. None of these tools is perfect for every situation. Unless you can afford to have a lot of tools in the bag, you will have to decide what you think your needs are. For example, if the device is going to sit on a desk and you are going to use it to take long notes, such as in a classroom or meetings, then the larger iPads are probably best to start with. If your note taking involves quicker notes, especially while on the move, then the Mini will be of interest. Do choose a device that allows for using the Pencil 2d generation. It is far and away better than the earlier one.

    You logic is flawed when comparing it the mini to the pro. The topic stops a portability, that it. the pro is heavy and cumbersome when your moving around and taking notes on the move and standing up. You noticed whenever you were using the pro it was placed on a flat surface when writing your notes. The mini’s quick access to taking notes and move around as you do so is where it excels over the pro. Your issues regarding mini are myopic. I’ve seen first hand the benefits of the mini over the pro in real life work flow activities to where the size does matter and the form factor in the compact size in this scenario was a plus. Why would you need a keyboard everywhere you go, when the idea is less is more for working on the fly. You’re not taking into account work situations outside of your own for this comparison.

    • @pointthirteen2234
      @pointthirteen2234 Před rokem +12

      Very smart comment! Indeed portability is everything that matters when it comes to the mini, obviously so, otherwise you would go for a larger more powerful model.

    • @marklouieadame
      @marklouieadame Před rokem +2

      Very true even using a keyboard is not actually as good as macbook but for note taking for 12.9 is so annoying you need to remove the ipad pro bare in order for you to write and prone for dings and scratches. Mini and 11inch is the way to go

    • @rainbowrainbow8220

      It depends on person to person. As a lawyer I find the small screen to be an issue. I need to make a lot of notes daily and the 11 inch iPad Pro is what I love using. 12.9 is just too big. Other than note taking, any plus or pro max iphone would be better for viewing content rather than getting the ipad mini. I guess it all depends on your profession and how much or quantity of notes you need to take.

    I was in the same boat when I recently thought about getting an iPad for homework/note taking. I'm already near the end of my brand new notebook I got in November. Sometimes Physics homework takes 7-8 pages so an iPad was more ideal in the long run. I went with the 2020 iPad pro 11" and I haven't looked back. A lot of space to write notes while being comfy. Also really nice because it allows me to take pictures of diagrams and put them directly into my homework/notes.

    I think my iPad mini with GoodNotes is my perfect solution. Specifically, because you have a feature where you can have a portion of the screen zoomed in for writing, and it will offer you a box to automatically advance across the page and then onto new lines so you don't have to constantly be manually scrolling the page. THIS one was BIG for me. I now do almost all of my handwriting notes and markup on my iPad mini, and because of the zooming feature, I don't wish for a larger iPad at all.

    In no way should this be compared to the iPad Pro. I own a tab s 7 plus and never asked myself if I should sell the bigger or return the smaller. Instead they each have their own useful scenarios……yes for note taking as well.

It’s a real tablet, sth so light and portable with a big enough screen to play games, take notes with the Apple Pencil, watch movies while in bed and so on. Even iphone 13 pro max screen is too small for stuff like that (or can’t do it at all, like using the pencil). I have the ipad mini and i love the form factor, but for note taking, I guess Samsung tab S7 is better due to it's S pen which has a fine tip, which let you write smaller and more accurately.

      I have the Mini 6 and the Galaxy S7. The Samsung is far better for note taking and most productivity tasks. And it comes with the S pen. Mini is great hardware,but I find the UI poorly thought out with fonts too small and lots of wasted space only the Home Screen.

      S-pen is one of the main reasons I ended up switching from iPad to Samsung Tab and it was totally worth it. the S-pen is just so much nicer to write with than the Apple pencil. The S-pen is silent when writing, while the Apple pencil is very clicky-clacky. I love the smooth feel of it. And you don't have to charge the S-pen to be able to write with it. Plus the S-pen comes in the box with the tablet, you don't have to shell out an extra $120 for it lol

    The variety of uses that others have for the Mini demonstrates how versatile it can be. A Master of Non - but Good at a lot of stuff.
    I bought an iPad Mini Cellular 9 years ago. I do not browse with it - I'm an adult -so I use my 14" laptop to browse and an Apple TV for viewing.
    After 9 years of ownership, I use my Mini almost exclusively when I "TRAVEL" - to do the following - otherwise it sits in a drawer.
    #1- as a GPS unit in my vehicles - the best GPS ever (70%)
    #2 - as a Sidecar or mirror screen to view video paired with a M2 MBA (25%)
    #3 - as an eReader (4%)
    #4 - the odd miscellaneous task (1%)
    Since it is on its last leg (but not dead) - I will likely buy the new Mini 7 when it comes out later this year. BTW I would 'NEVER" buy a bigger iPad as the Mini is simply a great portable complimentary device.

    i use iphone and apple watch, but for notes taking, i still find out that Samsung Note is way better than Apple Notes or even 3rd party note apps.
    1) ability to record voice and the same time record handwritting. when i replay the voice recording, it will also play my handwritting. so i can see what been said during what i wrote
    2) unlike Apple notes which have anoyingly separated section between drawing, typing and scanned doc. Samsung notes is more like a real paper. there is no limitation except for the paper size of course. atleast it shows page separation so that your note is not cut in the middle on handwritting coz Apple note didnt show page seperation
    3) export to PDF also are excactly same as what you see in the note.
    also Spen tech are just way better, no need battery to handwritting. the battery only useful for bluetooth gesture/command. also that sharp pen nip instead of rounded like apple... i found drawing is much more accurate.
    lately i played CODM with bluetooth mouse and keyboard on my TAB S7... Demm i feel so cheating hahahaha

      I am with you on nothing touching the Note series for the reasons you listed along with Dex option for when you need a pocket computer. I am starting to turn though with that surface duo because of my ability to take notes in onenote while having an ebook or whatever else open. My mini gets here tommorrow but it is doubtful I will use it much as I have been glued to the Duo. My tab s7+ has issues with charging while in use now days which is why I do not use it as much and now that I got the smaller devices I think I will end up trading it in for the next Note series phone that comes out as while amazing I no longer need such a huge tablet.

    To be fair, note taking doesnt default to 8.5x11 and typing or while watching videos. I often go for my 5x7 paper note pads and even my sticky notes for...you know, taking notes. Lets be more realistic about what kind of notes we are talking about.

    Some of the reviews for this don't make sense. This czcams.com/users/postUgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA works as well as any power strip I've used. Plug in what you need, be sensible about it & keep it movin' The construction is plastic but it's a sturdy piece. It has a single toggle switch & the swivel jacks are useful as well. Plugged in next to Tripp Lite Isobar takes some of these reviews with a pinch of sumthin' - does what it says & functions properly.Had for about a month. Perfect no complaints will update if anything changes.

    Do not, EVER, everrrrr, buy that Logitech keys to go thing. The keys are like sponges, you have to slam down on it to make a keystroke happen. Horrible. When I first started with the Mini, I thought I would need a keyboard, but after using it for a month now, I find the keyboard is unnecessary, I’m typing this comment with two fingers because of the small size it’s so good, and you won’t be typing long essays on the Mini either - save those for your big laptop or IPad Pro.
