Man..just keep watching WHS and you'll find what works for you. I have same scenario here at my house.
I only have deer passing through along creek bottom here at home. The deer seemed to always cross through my little valley here at home in a kinda hurry. I've since planted switch grass to block view from road and line of sight to my house.
Helped 100%. Slowed the deer down alot by making it a little more private all around my dinky little food plots here at the house. I have 1100 acres I can hunt north of here on my wife's family farm. Just frost seeded switch grass around future food plots 2-19-23 for this upcoming fall.
I'm able to use my plots here at home to experiment, with what I have going on up on the wife's farm. To bad it's 85 miles north.
Anyway good luck..don't be afraid to try. Weed control and patience is key. Oh yeah sometimes it's hard to be a Tim... lol

I need to get you out to my 23 acres in Pa. I do food plots lots of cover. Neighbors property who is family plants corn, wheat, and grain. I plant clover and winter peas/ radishes. My problem is I see them all summer long as I feed them corn. But in Pa you can’t bait during hunting season so we have to stop 30 days before bow season. Once season is in bucks are gone. Have plenty of does and small bucks on property. Big ones I see all summer leave. I usually see a shooter every other year a buck chasing a doe.

Killed a 7.5yr old this year in Pennsylvania on 17acres. Watched him for 3 years n so did all the neighbors. What I did different then my neighbors was not going in the woods a hour before daylight. Instead I waited for grey light to stalk my way to my blind. Hunted 30+ days n didn't spook one deer. I also left 10 acres as a sanctuary n planted a .5 acre food plot on the edge

I used to do the same thing on a parcel I had in Missouri decades ago. The only access due to terrain and property lines was through the ridge top fields. That is where the deer were at night and you were sure to bust them out plodding through. My buddy killed a 160 5min after leaving the truck slipping down the edge slow working to his stand.
I use the same strategy here in south on public. I get "close" in a good wind direction before daylight but leave the last 200-300 yards for after I can slip in and see.
But another public I get there an hour before daylight cause everyone pushes the deer to me during the morning rush..
      Used the same

I basically have the same thing I am working on. I have 5 acres . 1 is hay out front by the road. And about .3 acrea as a fenced I'm backyard and the rest is thick woods that's attached to 1000s of acres ..I plan on putting in a late season plot kinda out front but screened from the road and also screened from the house ' my dogs go insane when they see them' but I have drainage from the Ag fields that runs through the woods and then goes into all the woods behind me and runs for miles..The big plan is to get more deer to use the drainage to access the fooplot and catch them in between. It's gonna be tough because the foodplot won't be much off my driveway but last season we had deer in the yard and in the spot I plan on planting ..And I look it at like what do I got to lose? Little money in seed and some time ..

I had a 5 acre parcel that I killed plenty of deer on. Not anything huge back then. About 1.5 acres of woods that backed up to 80 acres of woods. My neighbor had the same. We had a pond, pole barn and house as well.
My food plot was about a 20 foot circle of clover.
I also had a crazy neighbor. Would run over to my house anytime he was suspicious. Went out to the barn for a screwdriver at 10 pm. He was in the door in seconds. "Whats wrong? I saw the light on!!". One time he called one evening, "I see smoke coming from the tip of your house!!!" Yes, we have a fire in the fireplace. Sadly, the 80 acres was a land of poachers. We had 7 different people tell me they owned the land. One even told me that he owned my treestands on MY property! Regardless, you can certainly kill deer on smaller parcels. Nice now to be on 40 acres with larger parcels all around.
